After we visited Johnny and Dally, we walked Ponyboy home so he could rest, he said he wasn't feeling well. Two-Bit walked me home. We were standing on my porch.

"Is your mom home?" Two-Bit asked.

"Nope, she had to work today."

"She works mornins at the Dingo right?"

"Yep."

"You mind if I visit for a little while?"

"Sure."

We walked in the house.

"You want anything to drink?"

"You got any beer?"

"Yeah."

I got one of my mom's bottles of beer out of the fridge and gave it to him. I walked to the radio in the kitchen to put on some music. I turned to a pop station.

"This is blah blah blah. Blah blah blah, blah blah blah. Here are The Ronettes with their hit single, Be My Baby!" The announcer said.

As the song came on, Two-Bit sat the beer down.

"Jackie?"

He slowly walked to me.

"You wanna dance?"

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!

"Sure."

We danced to the song. It was so romantic! I loved him since I first met him. We danced until the end of the song. We kissed! Keith "Two-Bit" Matthews was my very first kiss!

"Oh my goodness!"

Mom was standing in the doorway! I ran to turn the radio off.

"Mom, you're home!"

"Hi, Ms. Turner," Two-Bit said.

"Hi, Keith!"

"I was just getting ready to leave."

I could tell he felt awkward. I felt the same way. He grabbed his beer.

"See ya tonight Jackie."

"See ya!"

He left. Mom closed the door.

"You kissed that boy."

"Yeah. I like him."

"You two make a cute pair."

What the hell was she saying!?

"Really?"

"Yeah. It matches you perfectly."

"You don't have a problem with this?"

"Nope. I saw you two dancin' and kissin', it must've been so romantic. I am so excited for you, you got your first boyfriend."

"Did you have a good day at work?"

"Yeah, until a preppy lookin' boy came up to me and tried to make a move on me. Soc?"

"Yep."

"Anyway, he made a move on me. I smacked him in the face. He got scared and asked me if I was your mother. Seems like you got a name for yourself here in Tulsa. The Soc Slayer, you can kick those Socs' asses. And a couple more things, I know what really happened to you and those boys in Windrixville and before that too. I have to go along with Darry and Robert Sheldon's parents to a juvenile court thing. Johnny Cade's being charged with manslaughter."

"That was self defense. Bob was drowning Pony, I was knocked out by one of his friends. Johnny didn't mean to kill him."

"I understand. One more thing, I had an epiphany this mornin'. I realized a very common parentin' mistake."

"And what is that?"

"I was always judgin' you and criticizin' you for being you. Come here."

She gave me a hug.

"You can listen to your music, wear your Greaser clad, and you can put those posters from those teen magazines in your room."

I started crying. Could this really be happening!?

"Aw, hun'."

She hugged me even more.

"I also know about that rumble tonight. Make me proud! You hear me?"

"Yes ma'am."

"And I will help tend to you and the boys' injuries."

We both were smiling.
