Epigraph
Jack and Jill
Went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water;
Jack fell down,
And broke his crown,
And Jill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got,
And home did trot,
As fast as he could caper;
Now Jack bled,
To patch his head:
Now went Jack,
To hit the sack
He staggered to the bedroom;
Fell into bed,
Covered his head,
And on kept the day's costume.
Jill came in,
And she did grin,
To see Jack's paper plaster;
Now Jack vexed,
Railed on her next,
For causing his disaster.
Jack gave eye,
As Jill did cry,
But her tears did soon abate;
Jill yet pout,
And then ran out,
To the hill across the gate.
The old pail
Was on the dale
So, Jack did quickly follow;
Water still
The pail must fill
From yonder dank deep hollow.
Up again
To now attain
The needed pail of water;
This their fate
Co-operate
Jack and his mother's daughter.
The next thing,
They both fell in,
And Jill set up a big cry,
All was seen,
Like flash of green,
Topsy-turvy to the eye.
If you heard
Like Wind-up Bird
In book by Murakami;
Where they fell
Was no mere well
But Alice-tear Tsunami.
Jack unhurt,
was all over dirt,
righted himself and then sat,
all he saw
was far well's maw
like a great smiling bobcat.
In light pale
They saw the pail
A pestle and mortar dour;
A mini-hat
A wooden bat
Black hare and silver flower.
Jill did moan
How to get home
They may as well ask the hare;
To the shop
Munchausen hop
Buy a balloon for a fare.
Where is that
Jill eyed the hat
How can we now find our way;
Jack did stare
A talking hare
And with what funds can we pay?
You will find
If you use mind
Before you are things to trade;
Off you go
I must pound zo
Before you wish you had stayed.
A venture
In adventure
A strange home-coming quest;
Jack and Jill
To reach the hill
Took one friend and left the rest.
Now all three
Went home to see
And to put the place to right;
When done sup
Then drink a cup
And to you all a good night.
