Chapter 8 - Holi!
"Happy holi.." screamed Khushi as she was about to throw colors at Arnav's face, when he step aside and looked away.
"I don't celebrate this.." he said seriously.
"Kyun?" she frowned. He said nothing and walked away to his room.
"He stopped participating in festivals when his mother died.." said Maya.
"But this time he will play holi with us!" Khushi said determined. Dadi and Maya smiled hopefully.

Arnav's room:
Khushi silently tip toed inside the room hiding colors on her back, with a naughty smile on her face. She raised her hands and prepared to apply colors on Arnav from behind but he turned just at the right time.
"What are you doing? Didn't I tell you that I don't play with all these?" Arnav frowned.
Khushi's face fell as she put her hands down, "But.."
"Khushi just go outside and play with others.. don't trouble me!" he said curtly and sat on the couch taking his laptop to his lap.
"Laad governor.." Khushi pouted sadly, she went back thinking another idea to have him outside and play holi with others.

At kitchen..
Arnav walked out of his room and head to kitchen to drink water. He was pouring water on his glass when a man patted his back from behind, "Kya hua son? Why aren't playing holi with us outside?"
Arnav turned to see him, and the man raised his eyebrow with questioning look.
"I don't want to.." Arnav replied curtly and took his glass ready to leave, but that man held his shoulder, "Where are you going son? Now you have to play holi with us.. On this day, no one stays angry with each other.."
The man forcefully took Arnav to the garden side where everyone is having fun, playing with colors and drinking bhang and dancing with each other.
"What the.." Arnav muttered frowning.
"Oyee leave this what the.. what the.. now.. and enjoy holi!" the man said laughing and doing some dance steps.
"What the.." Arnav frowned.
"From where did you buy such bakwas dictionary ahn? Don't you have anything else to say other than What the..?" the man giggled.
Arnav gritted his teeth; he walked near the man and removed his fake moustache.
"What did you do? You removed my moustache? Are these your hands or trimmer?" he widened his eyes.
"Just shut up Khushi.. What you thought.. you would such bakwas acting and I wouldn't know that it's you.. I got suspicious on you when you said that movie dialogue.." he said glaring at her.
"Why are you doing this? Wasn't I clear when I said that I don't want to play holi? Do I have to explain this all and all over again?" he shouted.
Khushi looked down, "I just.."
"What? I just what?.. You're just a stubborn girl who doesn't understand other feelings.. I stopped participating in all these festival when my mother died.. Do you know how much I used to play holi with her when I was a little kid? And how am I feeling right now? She isn't here with me.. so there is no fun in this day also.. I don't feel like enjoying this day without her.. when I see these colors.. I remember my days with her.. those days which are never going to come back.." he shouted with moist eyes.
Khushi gulped feeling guiltily, "I know Arnav ji.. but this is the rule of life.. we all live and will die someday.. you can't stop living your present because your mother isn't in this phase of life with you.. What do you think? I don't understand your pain.. I do because I also went through the same, my parents aren't with me anymore, they left me when I was just 2 years old.. I'm also an orphan.. but I never stopped living because my parents aren't with me anymore.. I know they're watching me somewhere and they wouldn't be happy to know that their daughter is crying everyday for them, they daughter isn't celebrating holi because they're not there with her.. that's why I always try to be happy, it doesn't mean.. I don't have problems in my life.. I do have.. I also feel pain.. but I always smile.. there's no point in living your life upset or let the pain win over you.. because neither your mother is happy seeing you like this and neither you're happy.. she left you but it doesn't mean you should stop yourself from being happy.. no mother wants to see her son in pain.. I'm sure yours doesn't want also.. and if still you think that I'm wrong.. then it's okay.. I won't force you to come and play holi with us.. and I won't play also.. because I wanted you to apply color on me first.. and since you don't want.. then I will also not play holi with anyone else.."
They kept looking into each other's eyes lost in their thoughts.
Rabba vee.. Rabba vee...
Khushi walked to leave from there, taking the turban off her head and wiping her tears away.

"Listen.. Give this to Khushi ok.." Arushi ordered the servant to serve bhang to Khushi.
Arnav snatched the glass from Arushi's hand and threw it away, "I told you to stay away from my wife.."
"She only said that she wanted bhang.." Arushi looked at him innocently.
"I know what she wants or not ok.. you just stay away from her.." Arnav glared at her. Arushi left from there fuming in anger.
Flashback..
Arnav's room..
"Do you know tomorrow there will be bhang? I want to try it once.. I never drank it.." said Khushi excitedly.
"I suggest you don't even try then.." he said chatting with Aman on whatsapp.
"Kyun?" she pouted.
"Because you're already mad, you want to drink bhang to not even recognize me then.. Being mad you already came here without money or anything, just with your bakwaas brain which is not sufficient to stay in an unknown place and now if you drink bhang, who knows you will return to Delhi by train alone.. and this time, I won't be there!" he said.
"Oh yes!" Khushi nodded thinking, "It's better I stay away from bhang then.."
"So you're accepting that you're mad?" Arnav chuckled. Khushi threw a pillow to him, understanding now he was making fun of her.
Flashback ends.
"I know you won't drink bhang today.." he smiled softly reminding their yesterday night conversation.
He walked to look for her, but found Dadi on his way.
"Dadi where's Khushi?" he asked.
"I don't know.. I thought she was with you.. it's been some time she left party here to convince you to participate.." Dadi said.
Arnav nodded, "Okay.. I will go and look for her.."

"Laad governor.. he only knows how to scold.. how could he call me stubborn girl.. I don't understand his feelings.. I only love to spread happiness, I forgot they're others who love to spread hate also.. and one of them is Arnav Singh Raizada.. hmphh.. I'm not going to talk with him now.. also today is our last day of this fake marriage.. from now on, I will be free from seeing his kadoos face 24/7.." Khushi walked here and there in a corner complaining with moist eyes.
She stopped walking and gasped when she felt someone touched her cheek, "Who is it?" she asked placing her fingers on her cheek and realized the person applied colors on her.
She turned behind and saw him, she was shocked and happy at the same time. He listened to her words.
"Happy holi.." he said huskily.
Khushi's eyes lit up in happiness, "What did you say? Phir se kaho.. (say it again).."
"I'm not saying I love you that I should repeat it again.." he rolled his eyes.
Khushi shook her head in disbelief.
"Happy holi.." he said again looking away. Khushi giggled happily, she pulled him into a tight hug, "I can't tell you how much happy I'm today.. not only me, your mother as well.."
Arnav smile a little, he looked up in the sky hoping his mother to be watching him.
Khushi broke the hug and ran to the crowd; she danced her heart out while Arnav watched her, his gaze was only on her ignoring the guests dancing like crazy.
She looked at him and signaled him to join her, he nodded sideways.
Khushi made puppy face asking him to come. Arnav melted, he walked slowly joining the energetic crowd who was pushing him here and there and the bhang effect was clearly visible here.
Khushi giggled, she ran to him and pulled him close to her, "Happy holiiiiiiiiiiiii..." she shouted.
"You really don't need bhang!" Arnav murmured rolling his eyes. Khushi looked here and there trying to spot colors but she didn't see, she shrugged and rubbed her cheek on him.
Rabba vee.. Rabba vee..
