The Shah mansion gleamed with royalty as the beautiful high arched windows beamed in sunlight; the rose gold chandelier above the high ceiling illuminated the pearl white marble floor. While the grand lounge remained silent, awaiting Noor's pivotal response.
Noor remained spellbound by Irtaza's proposition; she never knew meeting him could drastically change her life. However, whatever Noor chooses would be a choice she had to live up to, and the only thing she had left at stake was herself, so she made a final decision.
"Mr. Irtaza, I'm sorry, but I'm declining your proposition. I'm not saying no because I'm scared to join the mafia because, trust me, nothing in this world can compare to the horrors I have witnessed.
But I'm saying no because this is my battle, and I don't want anyone to get hurt or waste their valuable time on me, and I have gotten this far on my own; I think I can fight that monster myself."
Irtaza's intense orbs remained on Noor's petite figure absorbing every word she just spoke; he understood her point of view because, from the moment he met her, Noor portrayed traits of nothing but a confident and badass young woman.
He knew somewhere in his heart that convincing her for this proposition would be difficult. And now, when he got Noor's final verdict, Irtaza knew he had to persuade her even harder because he would be damned if he let her fight that heinous monster herself.
And so he said.
"Noor, I said I would respect whatever choice you make, but your decision is a death sentence. Why would you want to fight Mihir alone, knowing how dangerous he is?
And If we work together, then I would be a peace knowing you're safe. So Tum, please meri baat sun lo."
(So, please listen to what I am saying)
But no matter what Irtaza said, Noor was determined to tell him her decision.
"I'm sorry, I can't risk anyone's life besides mine, and how can I trust you all? Even though you all took care of me, protected me, and have not given me any reason to question your integrity.
I can't blindly rely on you or anyone to bring my sister justice. So, thank you so much for your proposition, but now it's time for me to go my own way."
Noor wasn't trying to sound rude or arrogant; she was just used to fighting life's most brutal battles alone. And now, when she was so close to finding and destroying her sister's accuser. Having an unknown man offering to fight her battle along with her left her surprised in many ways.
But no matter what, Noor couldn't let anyone risk their life for her revenge. Because she has lost too many people in her life, and she wasn't ready to lose or sacrifice anymore.
Making up her mind and thanking everyone, Noor turned around and headed towards the main door exit but halted at her steps upon hearing the booming voice of Irtaza Shah.
"Six months, work with us for six months. Mihir Rizwan will come back to Canada in a few months, and so until then, let's work together and find every piece of evidence against him.
Then, when he finally returns, we will destroy him just as he has everyone close to us. I just want you safe, but I promise you, after seeking our revenge, you are free; I won't stop you anymore."
Irtaza hoped and prayed in his heart that Noor accepts his condition; he didn't know why he was so persistent in making her oblige to his wishes.
But all Irtaza knew in his heart was that he had to make sure she was safe; he had to make sure she was not alone in that monstrous man's clutches.
And Irtaza Shah, the most feared mafia leader known, would go to any lengths to protect her.
Noor was rooted at her spot, unable to comprehend Irtaza's persistent request. She couldn't grasp the fact that someone as powerful and feared as Irtaza Shah could care so much for a mere girl he just met.
But Noor knew there was no going back now; she wasn't going to fight this battle alone anymore; she was going to fight it with him.
And so, turning around, Noor spoke her final decision.
"Okay, Mr. Irtaza, we will work together for six months, but I have a few conditions. As far as I am aware, working together with you means that I have to follow strict rules as your a mafia leader, and I also know that I have to live with you and everyone here in your mansion.
And no matter what, I will follow all your rules and live here, but I will continue to do my job; I am a music teacher, and I don't want anything to get in the way of the only thing that has kept me sane; and secondly, I will also do everything I did before. So, if you agree to all the following conditions, we can work together."
Upon hearing Noor's response, Irtaza finally felt at peace. He knew this decision was tough for her to make because, from what he has learned from Noor, she has always fought her battles herself, but now no matter what, Irtaza wouldn't let her be alone, and so he agreed to her conditions.
"Noor, I agree to all your conditions, and I promise you won't regret the amount of trust you have shown me. Now, let's get you settled; Ahaan will take you to your room, and even though you will find everything you need here, please give me your address so that I can ask someone to bring over all your essential items."
With a slight smile on her face, she gave Irtaza her apartment address.
Ahaan and Noor made their way to her temporary room; she had entered the same luxurious room she woke up to that morning. And as she made her way into the room, her cognac doe brown orbs scanned her new home for the next six months.
Looking back at her room entrance, Noor noticed Ahaan standing rooted at his spot, dazed away into another dimension. So breaking his trance, Noor called him in and initiated a conversation.
"Ahaan, why are you standing by the door? Why don't you come in."
Upon entering the room, Ahaan asked Noor the question he has been craving to ask her from the moment they met.
"Umm, can I ask you something, please? Kya main apko di kay sakta hoon? You remind me so much of my older sister, and from the moment I met you, I felt as if I found my sister again."
(Can I call you my older sister?)
Noor's eyes brimmed with fresh tears upon hearing Ahaan's innocent request; his mere words brought back many emotions and memories that Noor had buried within her heart.
At that moment, Noor missed her baby sister, her Ayla, the most, but hearing Ahaan's words had put a balm on her aching heart, and so she said.
"Tum Mujhe di bola sakte ho Ahaan."
(You can call me your older sister Ahaan)
Noor said with a bright smile and continued talking to him.
"You remind me so much of my Ayla too, but you know what? She never called me di, I was always her Noorie, and the only time she would call me di was when she wanted something or was in trouble.
And she has always told me that I'm only her di and no one else's, and if she heard our conversation today, she would've fought you so hard, but don't worry, Ahaan, from now on, you're my baby brother."
Irtaza had witnessed the sweet little moment the duo shared from afar; his own eyes brimmed with tears while his heart ached to see the most beautiful souls he has ever known be crushed entirely by a heinous monster who did nothing but destroy lives.
But Irtaza had enough; he was the most feared mafia leader known, and now he would show Mihir Rizwan why he has been given the title because no one messes with his family and lives in peace.
Irtaza Shah would destroy the mere existence of Mihir Rizwan, and that was a promise.
