Legends

The story of Fred and George's antics was talked about for days on in, and much to the satisfaction of the students as well as some professors, Neither Umbridge or Filch could undo the portable swamp.

In transfiguration they were working with teacups and discussing the same subject as well.

"I'm going to be in deep trouble." Ron complained of his mother possibly blaming him for the twins actions. "She'll say I should've stopped them leaving, I should've grabbed the ends of their brooms and hung on or something...yeah it'll be all my fault."

"Well if she does say that it'll be very unfair, you couldn't have done anything! But i'm sure she won't..." Hermoione tried to assure him. "I mean, if it's really true they've got premises in Diagon alley now, they must've been planning this for ages..."

Krystal bit her bottom lip and looked over at Harry, she knew he's given the boys his share of the triwizard tournament winnings, and she herself had fronted them the rest as a silent investor.

"It's a bit dodgy, isn't it?" Ron sounded suspiciously, "they'll need loads of galleons to afford the rent on a place in Diagon Alley."

"It's occurred to me as well." Hermione put in."I've been wondering whether Mundungus has persuaded them to sell stolen goods or something awful..."

Krystal laughed at the ridiculous notion and Harry spoke up, "he hasn't, they got some of the gold from me." he admitted silently. "I gave them my triwizarding winnings last June."

"Oh Harry, you didn't!" Hermione chastised.

"I also gave them money at the beginning of the year." Krystal added, "as a silent investor of course."

When she saw Hermione trying to speak on the subject further Krystal cut her off.

"And before you say anything it is my money, that I made, so I can choose to do with it what I want. Other than that, whether anyone cares to notice at all, the twins are bloody talented when it comes to their 'craft' and I genuinely believe it will be a wise investment."

Harry nodded, "they'll be great at a joke shop."

When they finally received their examination schedules everything had begun to become all to real for some of them.

"As you can see your O.W.L.s will be spread over two successive weeks." Professor McGonagall announced as the student looked down at their schedules.

"Two weeks?" Krystal whispered horrified.

Professor McGonagall continued explaining the schedules and time slots, as well as the little matter of trying to cheat.

Hermione raised her hand, "please professor, when will we find out our results?"

Krystal and a couple more students perked their ears up sharply, they had been studying feverishly day in and day out, of course they wanted to know if all of their hard work had paid off.

"An owl will be sent to you some time in July."

While some were excited about the news, others (like Hermione, Neville, and Krystal) were a bit let down, they would have to silently worry until July to find out if they did well or not.

As their first exam was scheduled for Monday everyone crammed as much Charms knowledge they could into their cranium.

Krystal had made it a point to practice the different incantations as much as she could during the weekend, and when she was suppose to be eating or sleeping, she always had a Charms book open, her eyes scanning the pages as if to make the words ingrain themselves permanently into her brain.

That Monday morning the fifth and seventh year stood about the entrance of the great hall whilst the other student went on with their lessons.

At half passed nine the doors opened and each class was called forward one by one, the four house tables had been removed and in their place were many desks.

Krystal took a seat and looked down at the blank paper in front of her, her heart beating furiously from anxious nervousness.

"You may begin." Professor McGonagall announced as she turned over an enormous hourglass.

Krystal turned her paper over and her eyes scanned the entire paper, she didn't wast anytime, she answered all of the questions she knew from heart and skipped the ones she didn't know as well, to answer later.

...

"How do you think you did?" Katie asked Krystal over lunch.

Krystal sat with her friends at their usual house table for lunch, it felt so strange not to have the twins there.

She shrugged, "I think I did alright, I feel like I knew a lot of the answers but I guess only time will tell."

"I'm sure you did fine." Alicia tried to calm her down as she could sense Krystal beginning to second guess herself. "Have you talked to George since he's left?"

Krystal shook her head, "No...but I know he's fine and they've settled in nicely at their new shop, but I suppose if he had written it hasn't passed the fat old toads inspections."

Angelina chuckled, "I can just imagine them trying to mail us stink pellets or something explosive."

"How romantic." Alicia teased.

As lunch ended Krystal's friends hugged her tightly and wished her good luck.

Everyone was instructed to wait in a small chamber near the Great Hall until small groups were called forward in alphabetical order.

Hermione was the first out of Krystal's friends to go first.

Then she and Neville were called into the same grouping to begin their practical exam.

Professor Flitwick showed Krystal to one of the examiners and per her usual she smiled her brightest and introduced herself.

"Very nice to meet you Miss Montgomery." The very old and balding man smiled back. "Now, if I could ask you to take this eggcup and make it do some cartwheels for me..."

Krystal confidently performed every task asked of her, and while she did slip up on a couple of things she felt that she gave it her all.

That night after her initial day of exams, Krystal decided that she wasn't going to cram her head with the same stuff she had already learned.

"Why aren't you studying?" Hermione asked horror struck when she noticed Krystal actually enjoying a cup of hot chocolate in the common room.

"I've decided that I'm going to go into the rest of my exams with the confidence that I've paid attention in class so I should decent." She acknowledged, "if I don't do so well it won't be the end of the world, I'll simply change up my career goals."

That night the Gryffindors took a page from her book and Krystal had become a legend in her own right, the girl who refused to study for her O.W.L.s.

But the next day as she stood waiting for her transfiguration practicals she regretted every minute of not studying.

She went in and performed her best, as she walked out she could've sworn Professor McGonagall winked at her, which gave her hope.

Wednesday was Herbology and Thursday came Defense Against the Dark Arts.

With Harry's DA lessons Krystal soared through both the written and practical portions of her D.A.D.A exam.

On Friday She, Harry, and Ron had off while Hermione had an ancient ruins exam, this meant she had a three day rest from exams.

On Sunday morning at breakfast people were complaining about the upcoming school day.

"Oh thank god the mail is here," Angelina sighed, "I hope my mom finally sent me some treats, I've been dying for her brownies."

Krystal was shocked to actually have mail other than her daily prophet and (now her usual) Quibbler subscription as well.

But upon opening it Krystal found the piece of parchment blank. she flipped it over to examine the back for anything and when she turned it three words were no scribbled onto the parchment.

'I Solemnly Swear...'

The words then vanished and within a few seconds a couple more words in it's place.

'Your Name.'

Krystal smiled but quickly put the letter away, it was obvious that this was a private letter, one clearly from George who was clever enough to mimic the magic behind the marauders map.

"If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna head up to the room, I didn't get enough sleep last night." She announced to her friends.

They all wished her well and she took off.

Once in the confines of the girls room she released the thick curtains to her four poster bed and illuminated her wand. "Lumos." She pulled out the letter from her back pocket and opened it once more, before reciting the famous line every Potter fan knows.

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."

She smiled but it fell when the parchment remained blank.

"What the hell George?" She cursed out loud. Then the next two words revealed themselves, 'your name.' Krystal literally shook her head and smiled at how much if a ditz she was, she cleared her throat before she spoke once more, "Krystal Montgomery."

And just like that the parchment filled with words.

'If you are reading this then you are just as smart as I remembered you were.
With that being said, Hello Krys.
On the off chance that some dimwitted Inquisitorial Squad vermin is reading this, I will keep this short and to the point.
Fred and I are settled, after we left Hogwarts we waited a while to go round and visit mum, she of course yelled then cried then yelled some more but essentially got over it. I also made sure to swing by yours and see your dog, I can tell he misses you as much as I miss you. But without getting too mushy I hope your O.W.L.s are going smoothly, I know you'll do well and I know you'll become a great healer when you've finished with Hogwarts, meantime try not to miss me so much and give Ginny a hug from Fred and I. - George'

Krystal smiled lovingly down at the letter, she was overwhelmed that he and Fred had told their mom and of course Molly would support whatever her children wish to do, but she was also happy that he had gone to visit Sirius.

George was smart to write in partial code as well, as he mentioned, one of Umbridges lackies could very well have gotten passed the initial barrier of the letter.
