"Krystal Dear, please have a sweet." Dumbledore said as he held out a bowl of candies toward her.
She took one and then took a seat as she popped it into her mouth.
"So you may not have thought twice about it but I must inform you that my intention for making you a prefect is of course completely with reason."
"And what may I ask, would that be?" She asked curiously.
"Well I was under the impression that you wanted to join me whilst searching for Horocruxes." He said with the smallest glint of wonderment in his eyes.
"Of course I do." She said excitedly.
"Well, it would be much easier to explain you being seen out of bed after curfew now that you're a prefect."
"We have to include Harry as well, but he has to get his Occlumency down. He and Voldemort have a connection, a link sort of that can allow the other to see every deep dark secret, neither of them knows about it yet but I can assure you the quicker we get our hands on the prophecy the smoother everything will be."
Dumbledore looked at Krystal, "I don't like the idea of taking it."
"The prophecy was made to you professor, I dare say it should belong to you but if you feel better about it then we can just move it to a safer place."
"But where?" He asked knowingly. "There truly is no 'safe' place when it comes to a being such as Voldemort who will stop at nothing to obtain whatever it is that he wishes."
His words were true.
If they actually managed to moved the prophecy, Voldemort and his death eaters will just come after them, inevitably hurting more than the book entailed.
"You're right headmaster." Krystal acknowledged, "and if it's to stay there then we may have to leave Harry's mind open."
He silently looked up at Krystal and she continued.
"Well of what I remember quite well, Arthur Weasley will be attacked a couple of days before Christmas while on guard protecting the prophecy." She stated, then her face grew sullen with despair. "I would never want to subject Harry as a tool in all of this, but as things have been happening out of order and unexpectedly I don't think we can rely on my knowledge for much longer."
"Your knowledge is a gift despite how it came to pass." He assured her. "We will face all obstacles together as a team, now off to bed as you still are first and foremost a student." He smiled.
She left the office and went straight up to bed, Krystal found that she couldn't help but smile as her body comfortably rested against the familiar four poster bed. Krystal found sleep easily despite the fact that a world of chaos was just waiting to strike.
. . . . .
"Krystal Montgomery?" A small Gryffindor boy had approached Krystal at breakfast.
"Yes?"
"Um, I'm to inform you that Professor McGonagall would like to see you as soon as possible."
Krystal nodded and the student walked away.
"Wonder what's up?" Angelina said, "oh there's Harry, I gotta go talk with him." She said jumping out of her seat.
"Seems like I gotta go too." Krystal stated as she wiped her mouth, grabbed her daily prophet and her bag then went about her way to find Professor McGonagall.
"You wanted to see me Professor?" Krystal asked as she entered the class room.
She instructed Krystal to take a seat and then she walked over to her.
"As you might imagine Miss Montgomery your arrival has caused somewhat of a dilemma for us as a school."
Krystal felt badly, she had never wanted to cause duress to anyone.
"I mean it in the sense of placing you in the proper year. While your 16th birthday has just passed and you have already gone through your 5th year classes you should be in sixth year with the rest of your classmates and friends, unfortunately we all feel that you aren't quit ready to advance."
She looked about the space carefully before continuing, "I have been practicing with Sirius all summer." Krystal stated slightly pleadingly. "And like you said I-I've taken the 5th year classes already."
"I'm sorry Miss Montgomery it has been decided that you will be joining the fifth year students againthis year, plus it has been determined that you will also be tested for the O.W.L.s this year, so if you need any extra tutoring please feel free to approach any of the professors for help." She stayed with finality. "It was easier last year to sweep the O.W.Ls under the rug for you last year since the Tri-Wizarding tournament was a large distraction for all of us...but now we must buckle down and take your school much more seriously."
Krystal was crushed, but there was no point in arguing "Yes ma'am."
"I truly am sorry Krystal." Professor McGonagall said as she offered up a small smile. "Here is your schedule for this year."
Krystal took the schedule and excused herself. As she readied herself for her classes of the day she noticed her books. Mrs Weasley had gone shopping for the lot of them, Krystal hadn't even bothered to look at them, but seeing them now she saw that they were the exact same ones as last year.
She left the Gryffindor tower and found Cedric waiting for her.
"What class do you have first?" He asked.
"History of Magic." She grumbled then she made slight whining sounds, "oh Cedric, the most embarrassing thing happened to me."
"What happened?"
"I've been placed in Fifth year classes again." She confessed sadly.
He smiled at her and hugged her tight before he kissed her forehead, "my darling, there is no shame in learning properly even if that means being held back."
He walked her to her fifth year History of Magic lesson. Everyone stared at the two of them upon their arrival, then a few of the girls even giggled when Cedric stole a quick kiss from Krystal before he left for his own class.
"Hey Krys, is something going on?" Harry asked her.
"I've been placed in fifth year again." She admitted, still cross with the situation entirely. "As if I don't already have enough to worry about with The Order" she whispered, "now I have to worry about the gossip of being 16 and having to retake fifth year as well as O.W.L.s."
The three gave her looks of sympathy.
"I can help with whatever you need." Hermione offered sweetly.
"Thanks." She said as they all entered the class room, Harry and Ron sat together and Hermione joined Krystal.
First class went smoothly and then they went on to their stint of Double Potions with Professor Snape.
Snape told them to "settle down" and then went on to inform them of their upcoming O.W.L.s "after this year, of course, many of you will cease studying with me."
He rested on Harry and his lip curled.
"But we have another year to go before the happy moment of farewell." Said Snape softly, "so whether you are intending to attempt N.E.W.T. or not, I advise all of you to concentrate your efforts upon maintaining the high-pass level I have come to expect from my O.W.L. students."
Professor Snape went on to give them their assignment for the day, creating a Draught of Peace, a potion to calm anxiety, he also warned of side effects of creating the potion wrong. "You will find everything you need in the store cupboard, you have an hour an a half...start."
