Keeping Tabs

As Krystal told Madame Malkin goodbye for the day She couldn't help but notice the large black dog sitting just outside.

She looked around nervously to see if anyone else noticed Sirius in his animagus form.

"I'm guessing we can't go home." she spoke.

The large black dog simple turned his head from side to side indicating a 'No' was his answer.

"Well I suppose we can get a room at the Leaky Cauldron for the time being."

Krystal and the dog made their way and once inside immediately asked for a room.

"Fine, but keep an eye on yer dog, housekeeping won't take too kindly to the creature if they enter your room to clean." Tom the owner said.

"I won't require cleaning while I stay here, as for my dog, he is very kind to those that show him the same respect." Krystal voiced.

The man gave her a key and she turned to make her way to the room.

"My darling what are you doing here?"

"Crap," she whispered knowing fully well it was Cedric. Krystal turned her head only to see her suspicions confirmed. "Hey Love, what are you doing here?"

"I came to pick up something to eat for my boss, what about you?" He asked her once more, "I thought you were staying with your Aunt."

"Oh, I uh-"

"Cool dog, is he yours?" Cedric cut off her rambling.

"Yes, and that's why I had to get a room, my aunt doesn't really care for dogs much so I thought i'd give her a few days to think things over and hopefully she'll change her mind."

Cedric reached down to touch Sirius.

"Oh, please don't." Krystal got out quickly, "he doesn't like to be pet, actually he doesn't like to be treated as an animal entirely."

"Well that's cool, but you know if you need a place to stay you can come to my house, I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind."

She tiptoed and kissed him, "thank you Love, but truth be told I should be heading that way soon enough anyways, the Weasley's have invited me to visit them for a couple of weeks and I wouldn't want to impose on you parents."

He nodded his understanding, then the two kissed once more before he left.

Once they reached the room she let Sirius go in first so he could transfigure himself back into his human form and cover up, he knocked once to let her know to come in.

"You're being watched." Sirius rushed out as he paced the room in nothing but an old patchy robe someone must've left behind.

"Me, why?"

"All of you, Dumbledore said the ministry's starting to keep tabs on all of you to see if anybody puts one toe out of line Harry included."

Krystal's heart raced, she figured since Voldemort hadn't come back that the books would change, that the ministry wouldn't be keeping tabs on Harry. But if that was the case then she knew what would happen next.

"I had to fill you in before you were seen going back into the house." Sirius said, "from this point on you will have to apparate directly into the house, meaning you will have to get your apparation license, if you need the money I can give it to you."

"No, no I have money especially since you refuse to let me pay you anything for staying their." Krystal pointed out.

"Your presence alone is payment enough, you don't know how hard it is to not have human interaction without having to be a dog." He chuckled. "Speaking of, thanks for not letting that guy pet me, I'm guessing that was the elusive Cedric Diggory?"

Krystal nodded her head, "yes, that was Cedric." She sighed, "so I guess I won't be going to the Burrow then."

"Why not, I'm sure the Weasley's will still have you over."

She shook her head and sat down.

"The visions that I had long ago showed Harry and Cedric in the Tri-Wizarding Tournament with a death eater posing as Madeye, in the vision the trophy was a port key, and when Harry and Cedric both touched it, it took them to an old cemetary where Voldemort's father was buried." Krystal filled him in without stopping.

"It was a trap, on the orders of a frail and dying Voldemort, wormtail made this evil potion that called for the bone of Voldemort's father and blood from his enemy, Harry's blood. Basically it restored Voldemort fully bringing him back. Harry escaped but not before Cedric was killed by Voldemort. Of course the ministry had a field day with the death of a boy at Hogwarts right under the watch of Dumbledore and during the summer Dumbledore proceeds to assemble The Order causing 12 Grimmauld Place to become the new headquarters for the new Order of the Phoenix."

She paused only to make sure he was still listening.

"But last year when I told Dumbledore about the future i'd seen, it changed the course of everything, as you saw today my boyfriend is alive and well and we all know Voldemort is still out there but not restored. Unfortunately it didn't change everything, it seems that the minister is still trying to sink his claws into Professor Dumbledore and with this I can tell you Harry needs us now more than ever but we MUST maintain our distance or the ministry will see it."

"What about Harry?" Sirius asked more than a little concerned.

"He's as impulsive as his father was and extremely hotheaded when pushed far enough, and with his 'family' they push him to the brink almost daily."

Sirius let out a frustrated sound that resembled that of a dogs bark.

"I mean it Sirius, you have to write to him before the ministry starts intercepting his letters. Tell him to stay levelheaded and whatever he does he needs to keep his nose clean." She told him fiercely. "If he uses magic once, even for his own protection the ministry will jump on him, they need a scapegoat to enter the school and they will use Harry's 'rebellious rule breaking' to do so."

"That's a lot to ask of a child."

"More than a lot especially with a fifteen year old who feels like his friends and godfather abandoned him over the summer." She said a little sadly.

"But I didn't do that, Harry my godson, I could never abandon him." Sirius argued.

"That's how he's going to feel, I've seen it, and there isn't anything we can do because the ministry will be watching him 24/7 as well as intercepting his letters to see if he or anyone else he's communicating with, is doing anything they deem unacceptable."

After their conversation Krystal went straight into the ministry to pay to have her test done, there was a line and when she finally did it she didn't pass.

"When can I retest?" She asked the woman administering the apparation test as she dropped some Dittany on the the tip of her pinky to heal the splinched finger.

"Whenever you'd like but you'll have to pay again of course."

"Can I just try again really quick and pay when I leave?" She pleaded with the woman.

The lady sighed, "fine but if you don't pass this time you'll have to wait a week before you can try again."

Krystal took her spot once more next to the hoop on the floor, she closed her eyes and breathed then thought of being inside of the hoop over and over again. The lurching feeling was nothing to her anymore but she opened her eyes when her feet made a small tap sound. She remained unmoving while the lady examined the area behind her and then her body.

"Seems like you just had a batch of nerves the first time around," the woman smiled. "You passed, and i'll even wave the second fee since you performed it perfectly."

Krystal was elated, but unlike the muggle world a license only meant that you were now registered in the ministry to apparate, not that you get an actual card with your picture on it.

She exited the building and apparated back to number twelve Grimmauld Place, she had a feeling Sirius would be there.

"I knew you could do it Krys." He Beamed proudly. "Now per your suggestion, we are expecting company."

"Excuse me, but what suggestion?" She asked more than slightly confussed.

"You said this house would be the new headquarters for The Order so I've talked it over with Dumbledore and one thing led to another and everyone and their families are coming over sometime tonight."

"Great." Krystal said happily, she was anxious to see some of her friends again, "what about Cedric, could he come too?"

Sirius rubbed the back of his neck, "Krys, Cedric seems like a standup guy, one who would definitely be part of The Order of the Phoenix, but do you think he would accept me, an ex-con who escaped Azkaban?" Sirius asked, "we have to be able to trust everyone who comes into our home for who we really are."

"You're not a murderous con man." She replied.

"And I trust your judgment and also respect Dumbledore's wishes." He said softly, "with that being said, talk it over with Dumbledore, but before you do, make sure this is something you want for Cedric."

And with his parting words Krystal went upstair to clean her room just in case she would have to share with anyone.
