Biscuits and Writing

The two went on their way, they walked silently, Peeves trying to pester them but only effecting Harry.

"SHUT UP!" Harry yelled at Peeves.

A door swung open and McGonagall emerged "what are you shouting about Potter?" Then she noticed Krystal, "why aren't either of you in class?"

"We've been sent here to see you." He acknowledged.

"Sent? what do you mean sent?" She questioned them.

Harry held out the note which she took from him, frowning she opened the pink parchment and began to read, her eyes zoomed from side to side.

"Come in here, both of you."

They followed her into her office.

"Well, is this true?"

"Is what true professor?" Krystal asked.

"That you, Miss Momtgomery stated that Professor Umbridge lacks manners?" She turned and faced Harry "Or that you shouted at her and called her a liar?"

"Yes." They said in unison.

"Why Krystal?"

"She continuously kept referring to me as 'the American' and even called me 'american' derogatorily, she said that she should have guessed considering we all lack manners. So I pointed out how that in and of itself could be considered bad manners." Krystal finished with a smile.

"And you Potter, you told her He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is back?"

"Yes." Harry responded.

She looked upon the both of them before instructing them to take a seat and have a biscuit. The two sat down and helped themselves to the cookies in her tartan tin.

Then professor McGonagall sat down behind her desk and grew serious.

"You need to be careful," she spoke to both of them, "misbehavior in Dolores Umbridge's class could cost you more than house points and detention."

The bell rang for the end of lesson.

"It says she's given you detention every evening of this week." She stated.

They began to protest.

"Only you Potter, Montgomery you have Three evenings starting tomorrow."

Krystal crossed her arms, "that fat old toad only said it'd be tomorrow evening."

"Even still." McGonagall pressed on, "she IS your teacher and has every right to give you detention...tread carefully around Dolores Umbridge." She finished as she offered them more cookies and then pointed them out of her office.

"That was odd." Harry muttered.

Krystal nodded. "I reckon we'll have to tell Sirius about this." Krystal sighed, for the first time she actually felt bad for what she had done. Krystal had promised to look after Harry and to keep out of trouble, she had failed at both.

Harry looked up at her a little sadly, he must've gained a guilty conscious as well. "A fine job of looking after each other." He stated.

"Sirius will understand." Krystal hoped.

They went down to the Great Hall for dinner and the Weasley twins clapped for them. Harry joined Ron and Hermione and Krystal took a seat with her friends.

Fred and George simultaneously hugged Krystal "we are so proud of you." Fred said beaming.

"Our little Krys is growing up right before our eyes." George added.

"Is it true then Krystal?" Lee asked. "Did you really get a detention on your first day back?"

"Actually it's an extended three day detention for basically telling Umbridge she lacks manners."

Once again the Weasleys clapped.

"She is completely ridiculous, she's pushing for a non-magic class in a magical school for young wizards, she's absolutely mad."

Krystal finally got some food and continued to talk with her friends, when she finished she got up to exit the Great Hall, she wanted to get Sirius' letter written so that Harry could add anything before she mails it first thing in the morning.

But on her way to the marble stairs she was stopped.

"Krystal Montgomery?"

She turned at the small voice, but her stomach fell upon seeing the face it belonged to.

"Yes."

The petite blond smiled "I'm Gertrude Yaxley."

"Nice to me you." Krystal stated as she held her hand out to the small Gertrude girl.

The blond stared at it and just continued, "I just wanted to notify you that you have been relieved of your Prefect duty for the week."

"Excuse me?"

"Which part do you need repeated?" Gertrude asked in the same fake sweet voice Umbridge used often.

"You can't do that."

"But I can, you see I am Head Girl so if I think a Prefect is unfit to perform their duties as an upstanding student, I have every right to remove them from their responsibilities." She stated, her smile still on her face.

"Cedric's Head Boy, doesn't he have a say as well, and what about Dumbledore I'm sure he has the final say so."

"The headmaster gives us complete control over all Prefects unless he personally cancels night patrols." Gertrude insisted.

Then her smile widened and seemed more maniacal, "as for Cedric, I will take very good care of Cedi in your absence, who knows, maybe even after."

Krystal wanted to punch this girl right in the face but the blond strode away before anything else could be said.

Krystal stomped up the stairs angrily, just what she needed, yet another thing to worry about.

Krystal made it to the Gryffindor common room and pulled out some parchment and her quill and ink set.

'Dear Padfoot,
As promised here is me attempting to keep you informed. My first day could have gone exceedingly better to say the least. Due to the professors, I have been placed in with the Fifth year students and shall be taking my O.W.L.s this year, on the upside I have every single class with Harry. We got a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor as well, her name is Dolores Umbridge, she is a Fat Old Toad from the Ministry of Magic who is having us "learn about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way" completely through text book, we aren't even allowed to have our wands out during class. Other than that everything is going pretty well, I even got a compliment out of Snape on my Draught of Peace in potions. Anyways hope all is well on your end.
-Krys

P.S: Did I mention Harry and I got about a weeks worth of detentions for standing up to the Fat Old Toad, miss you loads though, Bye.'

As Krystal scribbled down the last bit Harry and Ron walked into the common room with Hermione behind them, Krystal waved Harry over and asked Harry if he wished to add anything.

He chuckled as he read the end of it, but didn't have anything to add so he handed the letter back, "want to borrow Hedwig?"

"If you don't mind." Krystal smiled.

Harry went to retrieve his owl and when he got back they opened one of the windows and Hedwig flew off into the night.

"I hope he isn't too disappointed with us." Krystal said as she put the lid back onto her bottle of ink.

Harry shrugged, "what's done is done, all we can do is face the music come tomorrow."

"You ready to go Krystal?" Ron asked. "It's time to meet up with Gertrude and Cedric to get our patrol schedules for the week."

"Gertrude is pulling my prefect duties."

Ron's eyes went wide, "can she do that?"

"Apparently." Krystal grumbled.

"You should come anyways, you'll want to make sure she isn't just trying to mess with you." Hermione insisted.

With a sigh Krystal agreed and the three of them went back down the marble steps and retuned to the Great Hall.

Cedric and Gertrude stood in the front waiting for everyone to arrive, but as Cedric saw Krystal he walked over to her and pulled her a little away from everyone else.

"What's this I hear about you getting a three day detention my darling?"

She sighed, his words made her feel bad. Krystal didn't like the feeling of possibly letting Cedric down.

"I'm sorry, that Umbridge woman is just... she's so-"

"My darling she is a professor, no matter what you must keep your temper."

"I know Love." Krystal sighed.

"I'm serious Krystal." He said a bit stern, he hardly ever called her Krystal so she knew he was serious.

"I got it Cedric." She snapped back, "you don't think I feel like crap over the entire situation? But how would you react to someone putting you down for being different?"

"She did that?" He asked much softer this time.

Krystal nodded silently, she could feel a prick of tears threatening to come forward. "She called me an American as if it was a slur, like it's something to be ashamed of."

"I'm sorry." He hugged her, "what she did wasn't right my darling, but she IS a professor here so no matter what we all must endure and there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to you, you are utterly perfect in every way darling." He said before he took the moment to kiss her.

In truth Cedric hated seeing his girlfriend so upset, even more than that he couldn't do anything to ease her sadness and it made him feel like a bad boyfriend.

Krystal sighed "thank you."

"Gertrude and I also have to ask you to step away from your Prefect duties for the next three days." He said a little louder.

"Oh Cedric." Gertrude spoke up as she made her way over, "I believe we spoke about this and agreed her punishment was to be for the whole week."

"Trudy it isn't a punishment, just a bit of a lesson and we never agreed on an entire week." He stated, "three days is long enough, I'm sure Dumbledore will agree."

"You're right." She said, trying to stay in Cedric's good graces. "We will see you on Thursday Kristin."

"It's Krystal." Krystal smiled as she held out her hand to the evil little blond, "Krystal Montgomery."

"Oh I'm sorry about that." She shook Krystal's hand this time, "well then, we will see you on Thursday Krystal."

The two let their hands fall.

"Trudy, hand out the schedules and then go ahead and start patrols, I'm going to walk my girlfriend back to her dorm."

"But-"

"You can manage right?" He challenged.

"Of course."

Cedric kissed Krystal's forehead before he grabbed her hand and laced his fingers with hers as he walked with her out of the Great Hall.

Gertrude watched on seething and biting down on her back teeth as she watched the young couple go.
