Review: Sue me, the first thing I noticed (after the cover) was the similar first name to one I've been writing. But aside from my bias towards a guy with the same name and similar appearance, I really did enjoy this story for its own credits. Although it delves into a backstory for its protagonist, it does do so in a boring or long winded way. Only what is needed for the story to be understood is added and some of it you learn by inferring. There are even a bit of a cliche in the Pokémon being his by the end, but is done in a unique way. All of it is very realistic and believable, which creates more interest in readers to know what happens next. I found myself unable to stop reading the further in I got and stayed up late to finish it, something I don't always find myself doing in stories very often now. While I did have some questions at the end, they weren't unresolved ones that the story led me to think, merely curiosities I wanted to know more about at the end. Although this has no need of a sequel, if there were one about what he does next, I would wholeheartedly read it and be obsessed with. Also, the cover is amazing and it's no wonder Imber was nominated best cover artist. Even though I could say more, it would approach spoiler territory and this review is getting long. If you like OC trainer journeys that are concise then try this story (if you haven't already).
