"Lionpaw, your mentor will be Timberstripe. You are quick, brave and have courage. I hope you will pass on all these qualities to Lionpaw." Sunshine announced.

"Lionpaw! Lionpaw! Lionpaw!" The Clan cheered for the new apprentice as he touched noses with his mentor, Timberstripe. Ivykit could just hear Lionpaw whisper, "I will be the best apprentice ever." Timberstripe purred in response, which was drowned out by the cheers of the Clan. Raggedwhisker padded over to him. Ivykit, Raindrop and Lynxkit followed.

"I'm so proud of you my son." Raggedwhisker purred as she nuzzled her kit.

"Congratulations, Lionpaw." Raindrop meowed and Lynxkit nodded, her eyes betraying her jealousy. Ivykit let out a mrrow of amusement and congratulated him.

"When we are apprentices, we will be even better than you!" Ivykit  mewed.

Lionpaw nudged ner shoulder, "Not if I can help it!"

"Hey, Ivykit!" Lionpaw called to his old denmate. Ivykit turned her head. "Lionpaw!" She greeted him with a purr.

"Do you want to share a vole?" He asked. Ivykit nodded and they walked to the Fresh kill pile together.

"This tastes weird." Lionpaw wrinkled his nose. Ivykit sniffed," because it's a mouse! You mouse - brain! Hey, I think it's your long lost littermate!" She teased. Lionpaw growled half amused half angry. He leaped at her. They wrestled on the ground then stood panting. "Hey!" Lynxkit yowled, tumbling over.

The two kits turned and blinked at her. "Yes?" Lionkit asked.

"Me and Ivykit will be made apprentices soon!" She meowed excitedly.

"Cool! When?" Lionpaw asked.

Ivykit stared at her sister. " but we are only five and a half moons!" She protested.

Lynxkit shrugged. "Duskfall said the leaders kits should be apprenticed at five and a half moons."

"Yay!" Ivykit squealed, bouncing up in excitement. Lionpaw purred, "It will be fun! Dragonpaw, Mistypaw and Rosepaw never talk to me."

"Oh wow, there will be six apprentices!" Raindrop trotted over, her tail waving in pride. "And it will be tomorrow so get a good night's sleep you two!"
