𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑 ─ A ROYAL WEDDING
❝ but its been 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 ❞

𝐓ime went on since the incident at Driftmark, and many things had changed. Vaenora's sister, Rhaenyra, married their uncle, Daemon, not shortly after the death of her sisters husband, Laenor Velaryon. And in their union their kids had been taken to Dragonstone. Leaving more of a divide between the greens and the blacks. The only thing she had heard from one of them was on she and Aemond's nameday when Aemma Velaryon sent Aemond an eyepatch as his gift.

It had been over a year and Helaena and Aegon's wedding came around. Helaena stood on a pedestal, wearing the final form of her wedding dress. Vaenora and their mother Queen Alicent sat on a cushioned bench, observing her as the seamstress made her adjustments.

"You're so beautiful, Hel." Vaenora gently said.

Helaena truly was beautiful in her wedding dress. Though to Vaenora, she looked beautiful in anything. The dress was pearl white, the color almost as pure as Helaena truly was. Jewels incrusted in the bodice, with a layer over the skirt that was a train, that wasn't rolled out to its full length, and, as per her mother's instructions to the seamstress, there were light green (as to not throw off the white color of the dress) details that could barely even be seen.

"You look gorgeous, my love." Queen Alicent spoke up from beside Vaenora in a tender voice. "Now, the jewelry. Vaenora, my love, bring one here."

Vaenora stood up and walked over to the table, picking up a necklace and one of the earrings that matched it. It was a a silver chain necklace with a pearl pendant, and it had pearl earrings to match. She brought it over to her mother who gently took them from her hands walking over to Helaena, holding the two pieces of jewlery in the places they would be if she were to have them on.

Alicent furrowed her brows, looking it over. "I don't quite like it." She said. "But there are other options, let me see the rest." Alicent backed up and walked over to the table, placing the jewelry back in their original places.

She looked over the jewelry and picked up one. It was a silver chain necklace with a tear-shaped emerald pendant. Alicent walked over to Helaena and placed the necklace by her neck, nodding approvingly.

"This will do."

Of course.

Vaenora and Helaena shared a look as they looked at the green jewel. "Mother," Vaenora spoke up. "The pearls match the color of the dress more."

Alicent paused. "The dress does have.. some green..." She traced her fingers over the small green threads. "Besides, emerald green is a beautiful color on Helaena." To that, Vaenora nodded. "And besides, this is the best looking necklace out of all of them." She turned to Vaenora, placing her hand on her face, running her thumb over her cheek, "Though the pearl one is a close contender."

The two girls sighed and nodded, watching as their mother placed the necklace back on the table, moving away the other pieces of jewelry. The seamstress came over to help Helaena out of the gown, as Vaenora sat back down on the cushions, fiddling with her fingers.

Even on a wedding dress, her mother always found a way to incorporate green.

𝐇elaena Targaryen's arm was locked around King Viserys' as he lead her down the aisle of the Sept of Baelor, towards the bored looking Aegon and the High Septon. Helaena was a vision to behold, beside the slightly hunched over King. Viserys' condition had slowly been worsening, his leprosy slowly spreading more. As he didn't have another arm to hold a cane with, he slightly leaned onto Helaena as they walked. Helaena's train was spread to its length, dragging on the grown behind her, showing off its intricate details of silver ivy-like vines and leaves climbing up the length of it.

Vaenora stood by Aemond, her mother, and her grandfather and watched as the two walked past them up the stairs to Aegon. Viserys gently unwrapped his arm with Helaena's and kissed her forehead before quickly reaching for a servant who passed him his cane, and guided him down the stairs to the rest of his family, where Alicent quickly went to help, guiding him to the pew the rest of their family was seated.

Aegon blew out air from between his lips and took Helaena's hand leading her up the rest of the way towards the High Septon, where he quickly let her go.

"We stand here in the sight of gods and men to witness the union of man and wife: one flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever." The High Septon started, giving them a look to place their hands together. "Let it be known that; Helaena of house Targaryen and Aegon of house Targaryen, are one flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever." The Septon continued, wrapping their combined hands together. "You may cloak the bride and bring her under your protection." The Septon said, unwrapping their hands. Vaenora fiddled with her fingers as Helaena turned and Aegon clumsily took the cloak with the Targaryen sigil, wrapping it around her shoulders.

The two turned around to the crowd, Aegon sighing as he leaned down, pressing a quick kiss on Helaena's lips, the crowd applauding as the two siblings slightly moved away from each other.

Vaenora softly clapped her hands together looking up at him, a hint of remorse in her gaze as she looked up at them, the two now placed in what would be a loveless marriage, nothing more but children abiding by their mothers instructions. Helaena would be taken by her bugs and Vaenora, Aegon would be washed away in his wine and sin, as it wasn't his time to love yet.

𝐕aenora sat at the high table, playing with the food in her plate as she watched people crowd in the middle of the room, their bodies swaying and dancing to the music that filtered around the room. Lords had been coming up to Helaena and Aegon, who sat in the middle of the table looking uncomfortable, offering gifts and their congratulations.

Aegon had been nursing multiple cups of wine, while Helaena took small bites of her food and nervous gulps of her wine. Aegon suddenly got up, causing his family to look over at him, watching as he swayed slightly in a drunken haze, his hand moving to hold the table to keep himself up.

Aegon ignored him, and began to walk off from the high table, body swaying as he made his way into the crowd. His family watched, their gazes filling with embarrassment, as Aegon began to hit on multiple other ladies and servants, to which some servants had to nerve to feed into his lust, placing their hands on him and pulling him closer.

Alicent sneered beside her, her fists clenching in anger, her knuckles turning white. Vaenora looked over at Helaena who shrunk into her seat, looking down at her lap. Vaenora frowned, a look of sadness appearing on her face at her sister's expression. Alicent looked over at her father, to which Otto Hightower got up and down from the high table, walking through the crowd to where Aegon was. He pushed the servant girl off of him, and pulled Aegon's hands from her, as he grabbed him by the arm, pulling him back up to the high table, to which Aegon let out a 'ow' due to the tightness of Otto's grip.

Alicent stood up as he approached.

"You drunk fool." She sneered, making sure to keep her voice low. Though people had begun to look over, she didn't want them to hear.

As Alicent chastised Aegon, Vaenora looked over the empty seat, where her mother once sat, over to Helaena. The music began to liven, and Vaenora stood up, walking over to Helaena, tapping her shoulder. Helaena looked up, a small smile growing on her lips at the sight of Vaenora.

"Do you.. want to dance?" Vaenora asked shyly.

Helaena had already been on the dance floor, not of her own will, with Aegon to do their first dance. She looked out at the crowd, before looking back up at Vaenora, hesitantly nodding.

Vaenora knew of Helaena's dislikes for crowds, so it surprised her that she agreed to dance with her in one. Vaenora held out her hand, and Helaena took it. The two girls got down from the high table and went to the crowd. Multiple people looked over at them as they approached, moving out of their way, letting them through to the middle of the room.

Helaena moved closer to Vaenora, looking around nervously at the crowd. Once they got to the middle of the room, they turned to each other.

Vaenora looked at her sister's nervous expression. "Just keep your eyes on me. It's only us here."

Helaena softly smiled at her words, and the two began to dance to the music, the people around them cheering them on as they danced with them, thought the two girls didn't notice them as they only looked at each other. The two girls jumped and laughed and twirled around as the music swelled, and they took each other's hands and spun around, the crowd moving to make room for them.

The two spun around until they got dizzy, and quickly held on to each other as their vision swayed, though they continued laughing all the while. The two continued to jump and dance around for the duration of the song, the two clapping as the song finished and the crowd cheered.

Vaenora took Helaena's hand and walked back up to the high table, the two of them laughing giddily. Their family, that had been watching on while they were out on the floor, gave them smiles and claps, Aegon just sat slumped in his chair, his wine privileges being cut off by Alicent, though he was still drunk as ever.

As they approached their seats, Alicent turned towards them. "You two danced beautifully, my loves." Vaenora and Helaena grinned as they sat back down, still letting out small giggles.

The night carried on and the hour turned late, and the moment Vaenora dreaded for Helaena slowly approached. Most people were back at their seats, their feet hurting from dancing so much, multiple voices causing a murmur throughout the room as multiple conversations were held.

Viserys suddenly stood up, leaning on the table for support, causing a hush to fall over the room. "The hour is late." Viserys started, causing Vaenora to look up at him with slight fear in her eyes. "And it is time for the marriage to be consummated." Vaenora looked nervously at Helaena, who was already looking over at her, a look of fear and nervousness in the poor girls eyes.

"But there will be no bedding ceremony." Vaenora let out a sigh of relief at her father's words, though a slight look of disgust crossed her features as she heard the sound of disappointment come from some people across the room. "My children may take their leave for the night now." Helaena nervously stood up, Aegon stumbling onto his feet beside her. Viserys motioned them over and kissed Helaena's forehead and patted Aegon's shoulder before the two moved from the high table and walked through the room to the front doors, Aegon drunkenly looking over at some of the servants and ladies that he had been messing with earlier.

Vaenora followed Helaena's figure as the servants opened the doors for them to walk through, and as the girl walked through them, she looked back at Vaenora, keeping their eyes connected until Helaena walked from her view.
