Deep in the Oregon forest... were the remains of a laboratory. Pushed back from prying eyes, it never had the chance to be completed. The worn sign across the crumbling building, most of the words missing, read "Hawkins Lab" faintly. An experiment gone wrong years ago left the place unused, and because of the evacuation it was forgotten. Now, amidst the rubble, someone was watching. Always watching.

A faint hum could be heard, muffled by some rocks. A piece of rock had been wedged over what used to be a round structure, an attempt of a portal perhaps? The being that watched was intrigued by the humming, and watched as a stray squirrel scampered among the bits of metal littering the floor. It paused near the hum, taking a wary sniff before squeaking and fleeing in terror. The rocks rumbled and in a flash of light, the rock exploded.

The air grew colder, and soon what appeared to be specks of dust started to emanate from the huge hole in the wall now. From deep within the hole a low growling came, followed by an otherworldly shriek. The being that had been observing was absolutely fascinated by this new arrival. "Fascinating. Looks like my game just got a little more interesting..." He warped away, and all that was left was the shrill echoing of his laughter as an alien claw gripped the entrance of the tunnel.
