Sooooo I have or may not have done A LOT of research on native american tribes for Anya-

And yes I know it is my ten THOUSANDTH time changing her tribe- but now I decided to go the Moana way, making it a fictional yet mostly accurate version of the culture.

Sooooo I haven't found a name for the tribe but I'm going to find one!

But for now here is some examples of their hair and their pow wow regalia.

So in many tribes, long hair  represents self- esteem, self-respect as well as a growth of the spirit as some articles say. It also represents your family, how you are as an individual and a community. Many children are taught not to cut their hair unless they are mourning.

This is why you sometimes see Anya with short hair in my later drawings.

Like this one! Its Because Anya is mourning because of the loss of her father.

I also have a character design for the Pow wow regalia that Anya and her father wears.

Keep in mind that not all of these are extremely accurate, but if there are things that you would like to add in or critique me on, I would love to hear it!♥️♥️✨

This is Anya in the Women's fancy shawl regalia, which includes a shield. This represents both physical protection and spiritual protection in Pow wows! The Shawl is supposed to represent a butterflies wings.

Both Anya and her father have the same headdress, its a way to respect her father after his death. And as you can see, the poncho her father is wearing is the same one Anya wears currently.

Lastly this is my character design for Anya's dad! Finally! This man is a literal HIMBO, a very sweet man that happened to mess with the wrong dudes. Anya's father had some relations to the plague doctor's goons in order to take care of Anya. And when he didn't have the money to pay them back, the Plague doctor sent his goons after him. And that showdown in their house caused a series of trauma in Anya, which is why she cut her hair.

So yeah, I've been doing research on these things for probably 2 1/2 years now! It is very hard but worth it!

And this was totally not a excuse for me to learn more about my roots-
