Ch.9: Introductions

DISCLAIMER TIME

Me: Since I don't have anyone to do the disclaimer for me, I'll be doing it. I do not own Naruto the plot or any of the characters that are in this fanfic except for Emiko Uchiha, Kyoko Uchiha, and Kou-kun (Emiko's teddy bear) and more characters that I have added. They belong to Masashi Kishimoto and TV Tokyo. Man that was troublesome. *Eyes sparkle and fist pumps* HELL YEAH! Shikamaru moment!

DISCLAIMER ENDED

Emiko's POV

My cheeks puffed as an annoyed expression took over my face.

Sasuke left the classroom after telling me he needed to go and grab his lunch since he forgot it at home. Sakura, being her usual loyal fangirl self, followed Sasuke wanting to join him for lunch. Naruto, having a crush on Sakura, followed her, hoping that if Sasuke rejected Sakura, she would go to Naruto instead. Leaving me alone to eat my lunch.

I sighed and grabbed my bento in one hand and Kou-kun in the other. Walking out of the class and into the yard, I watched as I passed by groups of different teams talking and getting to know each other. I sighed and hugged Kou-kun to my chest.

Baka teammates. Leaving me all alone.

I grumbled to myself as I looked around for a place to eat my lunch. I stopped in front of one of the trees in front if the academy. The tree was fairly tall. It was probably 20 metres high. From the shape of the leaves the tree was an Arborvitae tree. I smiled and climbed the truck of the tree without using my hands with the use of my chakra.

Once I found a nice study branch in the tree I sat down with my back against the trunk and my lunch and Kou-kun in my lap. I sighed with a blissful smile on my face as I watched the view from my place. I was probably 3/4 up the tree, making me about 15 meters above the ground. I watched as villagers ran through the busy streets of Konoha continuing their usual routines of the day. My gaze lifted to the sky where only the sun and a couple birds occupied.

I looked back to my hands where my homemade bento laid. Smiling to myself, I opened it, making sure I had a tight grip on Kou-kun so he wouldn't fall. Inside the bento was rice, tempura, octopus hotdogs, and rabbit shaped apples. Grinning at my work, I plucked the chopsticks that were taped onto the lid and ate my lunch.

My eyes sparkled as I ate and I gave myself an imaginary pat on the back.

Another bento success!

I guess you're wondering how I know how to cook when I'm only 8. Well, back at the Akatsuki, no one but Konan knew how to cook. The food they made was inedible, poisoned, burnt, or we couldn't even define what it was. I swear that one of Kakuzu's meals actually moved once. It was a good thing that Hidan was immortal. We forced him to eat all the food to see if they were edible enough to eat, seeing as Konan would be out for a mission and Kakuzu wouldn't use his money to pay for take out.

Papa was glad to know that I was able to cook, but he wasn't too fond of the idea of me being near a burning stove.

I sighed in content once I finished my food. I placed everything back in their rightful place and just sat, relaxing into the moment of peace. I closed my eyes and remembered all the times that I would climb the trees outside the base with Deidara, since he was the only one who would be willing to play with me.

I let the image fade away and looked up at the sky. From the position of the sun, it should be time to meet our new senseis.

Grabbing my now empty lunch and Kou-kun in my arms, I jumped off the tree. I smiled as I left the feeling of the wind brush through my hair as I free fell through the air, towards the ground. Before I landed and broke a leg, I placed chakra into my feet to break my fall. I landed gently without a scratch. Too bad the ground didn't have the same predicament. The ground that was surrounding me no longer had grass and was dented, creating a small crater.

Oops... I guess I used too much chakra.

Using an earth jutsu, I fixed the ground. I frowned when I saw that people would still notice the circle of soil in the middle of a lawn of grass. Slowly, I moved my head from side to side, surveying the area and making sure that no one was around. Once I saw that the coast was clear, I placed my hands in a strange hand sign.

"Nature style: restoration"

After I whispered the jutsu, I watched as the grass grew in the barren area. I smiled as the area looked good as new. As if I never destroyed it in the first place.

I made up that jutsu after finding out I was had all chakra natures. After I read a book about how certain chakra natures can be used together to make a kekkai genkai, like lava release and ice style.

I smiled to myself once the grass looked good as new. Making sure I had everything with me, I walked back towards Iruka-sensei's classroom. I hummed to myself but stopped when I heard a thumping noise.

Cautiously, I placed my ear against the wall and followed the noise. I stopped in front of one of the empty classrooms of the academy. With a hand against my weapons pouch, I slowly opened the door. When no treat popped up, I entered the room and searched for the source of the noise. My eyes widened when I saw a familiar tuft of raven hair.

Sasuke was had his wrists and ankles tied behind his back and a gag around his mouth. From the way he was positioned near the wall, I'm guessing he was the one creating the thumping noise. Taking out a kunai, I ran towards Sasuke and cut off all his restraints.

Sasuke stood up and looked to the side as he patted my head.

"Thanks, Hime-chan." Sasuke muttered.

"No problem Sasu-oji!" I smiled, grinning, as I saw the small tint of pink in his cheeks. He probably was embarrassed.

Taking my hand in his, he led me out of the empty classroom and towards Iruka-sensei's. Along the way we stopped as we saw the pink haired fangirl. I looked up at Sasuke and heard him mutter something about annoying before sighing and walking again, dragging me along.

"Sasuke-kun, you're such a shy guy!" Sakura squealed as we walked closer.

I stared at her like she grew two heads. What was she talking about? Looking up at Sasuke, I noticed that he must have been thinking the same.

"Are you emotionally prepared? I am," Sakura asked, "W-wait... Sasuke-kun?"

Sasuke simply ignored Sakura as we walked passed her. Stopping, Sasuke turned his head slightly and stared at Sakura.

"Where's Naruto?" Sasuke asked.

"Changing the subject again? Forget about Naruto," Sakura said, "All he does is pick quarrels with you. It's probably because he's had such an irregular childhood. Oh yeah, you know how he doesn't have parents, right?"

My eyes widened. I felt Sasuke's hand tighten around my own as Sakura continued to speak.

"He's always doing selfish things. My parents would scold at me if I do such things. If you were alone, your parents wouldn't get mad at you. That's why he's so selfish."

I watched as Sasuke clenched his fists. I felt my eyes water as Sakura spoke. She doesn't know how it feels to live without parents. I looked at Sasuke again and saw that his head was bowed, causing his bangs to cast a shadow over his eyes as he spoke.

"The solitude..." Sasuke muttered.

"What?" Sakura asked confused.

"You can't even compare it to the level where your parents get mad at you."

"What's the matter?"

"You're annoying." Sasuke turned to Sakura with narrowed eyes.

Sasuke tightened his hold on my hand as he turned and walked back towards Iruka-sensei's classroom. I glanced over my shoulder and stared; Sakura stood frozen in the place we left her.

Stopping slightly, I let go of Sasuke's hand.

"I'll be at the class soon. You go ahead." I mumbled.

Sasuke stared at me for a second before nodding and continuing on his way. I watched as he walked away. Turning around I ran to Sakura and hugged her, wrapping my arms around her waist.

"Sakura, I'm sorry about Sasu-oji, but you have to understand that you're words had a great affect on him. Naruto wasn't the only one who grew up without parents, remember?" I watched as Sakura stared at me in confusion, "Don't you know Sakura? Sasu-oji doesn't have any parents also. They all died the day of the massacre four years ago. His family.... his clan... they all died. They died by the hands of the person her admired the most too. His own brother... my father. Ever since I came, he's life became just a little bit brighter. He has something to look forward to. Sakura, you have to understand that you have a life many people would kill to have, myself included. I grew up without a mother Sakura. The scolding of a parent is something I would love to have instead of the loneliness. Please understand Sakura. Do not take the things you have in your life for granted."

Without another word, I unwrapped myself from Sakura and walked back towards the classroom.

She will never understand the solitude of being alone, to live without any parents. Sasu-oji lived alone since the massacre. No one was there to comfort him. No one would have understood him. Naruto never even knew his parents. He grew up being hated and ignored for the beast he held inside of him. As for myself... I grew up without a mother, living in a base full of S-rank criminals. My life wasn't normal. Papa would constantly go on missions, leaving me to in the hands of the others. Sakura has her parents. She has the life that Sasuke, Naruto, and I would die for. She has to learn... for the world of the shinobi is a cold, dark place.

Sighing, I continued on my way, hugging my teddy bear towards my chest. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath, smelling the sweet aroma of lilacs and roses that came from Kou-kun. It was a scent that I loved for Papa always told me that it was what Mama used to smell like. I always wondered, that if Mama were alive, would she smell like this every time she hugged me.

Shaking away the blissful thoughts, I ran towards the classroom.

Time Skip - Hours Later

"He's late." Naruto muttered as he peeked his head through the doorway, searching the halls in hope to spot out sensei.

I raised my head off the table and mumbled some incoherent words. I sighed and rubbed my left eye as I yawned. It's been hours since all the senseis have picked up their assigned teams. The only sensei that hasn't arrived yet was our sensei. After an hour of waiting I fell asleep only to be awakened by Naruto.

"Naruto, why don't you sit still." Sakura suggested.

Sasuke glared at Naruto for waking me up and tried to coo me back to sleep. Mumbling an 'it's okay' to Sasuke, I stayed awake and waited for our sensei with the others. Placing my arms on the table, I crossed them and placed my head on them. I listened to the Naruto complain, while gazing out the window.

"But why is the sensei for team 7 the only one late? All the other groups went somewhere with their new senseis already, and Iruka-sensei already went home!" Naruto whined.

"That's not very important," Sakura looked up as she heard a clatter of noises, "Hey, what are you doing, Naruto?"

I turned to see what Naruto was doing. He was standing on top of a chair, wedging a chalkboard eraser between the door and the frame. I sighed. Was he really going to pull a prank on our sensei?

"It's his fault for being late." Naruto defended.

"Geez, it's your own fault if you get in trouble." Sakura said.

"A Jōnin isn't going to fall for a plain old booby trap like that." Sasuke scoffed.

I turned to him and giggled slightly. Sasuke may be right, but if I'm correct on whom our sensei is going to be, then he'll be too lazy to dodge Naruto's plain booby trap.

"Yeah! Naruto, you're so stupid." Sakura said, immediately agreeing with Sasuke.

We all turned to the door when we saw a gloved hand reach to open. We all waited in anticipation to see who was our sensei and if they would fall for Naruto's trap. The door opened and the eraser fell on a familiar tuft of silver hair. The dust from the eraser dissipated into the air revealing the face of our new sensei. Or at least whatever his mask didn't cover.

"Kakashi-oji!" I yelled as I pounced on the Jōnin.

I wrapped my arms around his waist as he held me hanging due to his tall height. I watched as Naruto pointed at Kakashi and laughed.

"He fell for it! He fell for it!" Naruto laughed.

"I'm sorry, sensei, I tried to stop him, but Naruto-kun didn't listen to me..." Sakura apologized.

Sasuke just sat there as he stared at Kakashi in disbelief. Probably wondering if he truly was a Jōnin. Kakashi didn't say a word as he picked up the chalkboard eraser and placed it back where it was supposed to be. I continued to stay latched onto him. Kakashi grabbed his chin in thought as he looked up slightly.

"How should I say this..." Kakashi said, "My first impressions of you guys are... I hate you."

Everyone sweat dropped. I whimpered and unlatched myself from Kakashi and stood in front of him.

"Even me Kakashi-oji." I whimpered as I looked up with him with puppy dog eyes.

I saw Kakashi take a few hesitating steps back as he tried not to crack under my gaze. For even greater effect, I forced my self to cry. Whimpering, I fisted my hands and tried to wipe away the tears. I could feel the glares pointed towards Kakashi. Panicking, Kakashi took me into his arms and hugged me.

"Okay, okay! I'm Sorry! Just stop crying! I hate it when you cry Emiko!" Kakashi said.

I stopped crying immediately and smiled.

"Really? You don't hate me? Yay! I love you too Kashi-oji!" I yelled.

"Kashi-oji?"

"Yeah, my new nickname for you!"

Kakashi sighed and nodded. He looked over at the others.

"Meet on the roof." Making a hand sign, Kakashi poofed himself and I onto the roof.

I sat myself on Kakashi's shoulders as he leant against the railing of the roof, waiting for the slowpokes to arrive.

Once the others arrived they sat themselves on the stairs in front of us, with Sakura on our left on the second top step, Naruto on our right at the same level of Sakura, and Sasuke in between the two on the top step.

"Let's see, why don't you introduce yourselves." Kakashi instructed.

"Introduce ourselves? What should we say?" Sakura asked.

"What you like, hate, your dreams, and hobbies. Something like that."

"Hey, hey. Why don't you introduce yourself first, Sensei." Naruto suggested.

"Me?" Kakashi said as he lazily pointed at himself, "I'm Kakashi Hatake. I have no intention of telling you my likes and dislikes. As for my dream... I have few hobbies."

I chuckled as the others mumbled to themselves about Kakashi's introduction.

"Now it's your turn. You first, in the orange." Kakashi said.

Kakashi's POV

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki," Naruto introduced himself as he fiddled with his forehead protector, "I like cup ramen. But I like the ramen at Ichiraku that Iruka-sensei bought for me even more. I also like hanging out with Emi-chan. I hate the three minutes that I have to wait after I put the hot water. My hobby is to eat and compare cup ramen! And my dream is to become greater than the Hokages! I'm going to make all the villagers recognize my existence."

I stared at the blonde in mild surprise but kept my expression impassive.

I see. He grew up in an interesting way.

"Okay, next." I said.

"I'm Sakura Haruno!" The pink headed kunoichi introduced, "I like... well, the person I like is..."

I raised an eyebrow as the girl took a discreet glance towards the raven-haired boy.

"And my hobby is... well, my dream is to..." I mentally cringed as the girl squealed.

Hopefully, Emiko won't grow up like that.

"And? What do you hate?" I said.

"Naruto!" Sakura growled out.

I raised an eyebrow at the defeated look of Naruto.

Girls at her age must be more interested in love than ninja training.

"The boy with raven hair." I said a bit interested.

"My name is Sasuke Uchiha," The raven-haired said into his folded hands, "There are many things that I hate, and I mainly have only one particular person that I like."

I saw the boy glance at Emiko with a caring gaze. I smirked under my mask.

It seems the Uchiha really does have a soft spot for Emiko.

"Also, I have an ambition that I have no intention to leave as just a dream. The revival of my clan, and to... kill a certain man."

Just as I thought...

Silence overcame the area. I narrowed my eyes as I felt the hate and pain rolling off of the boy. I glanced up at Emiko who was sitting on my shoulders and saw her glancing at Sasuke with worried glances and biting on her lower lip. Her eyes held love towards her uncle, but pain and sadness knowing that the man her uncle wants to kill is her own father. I sighed.

Emiko's future is for sure going to hold a lot of pain. Her own uncle wants to kill her father, her last living parent. When the time comes will she begin to hate Sasuke or understand that her father's fate was written the day he massacred the Uchiha clan?

"Okay, Emiko, you're up." I said, breaking the silence.

I glanced at Emiko and smiled as she played with my hair as she introduced herself.

"My name is Emiko Uchiha. I like my family, Konoha, Hokage-sama, Kashi-oji, Sasu-oji, all the rookies, my teddy bear, everyone back at my other home, sweets, art, music, singing, training, and practicing my swordsmanship. I don't hate anything because I think hate is a really strong word. Although, I do dislike it when the people I love get hurt, bitter and sour food, when Papa goes away, being alone, and having to hurt the ones I love to protect them. My hobbies are drawing, training, singing, and cooking. My dream for the future is to become a great kunoichi and to bring peace to five great shinobi nations."

We all stared shock at Emiko as she finished. We all knew that she was one for all those things, but what got us was her dream. For someone so young, her dream was something that no one her age would usually dream about. Not unless you knew the dangers and darkness that lay out in the world.

"Alright, you four all have unique personalities. I like that. We're going to begin a mission starting on Monday. So you'll have the weekend off." I said.

"What kind of mission is that, sir?!" Naruto saluted.

"First, we're going to do something that we five can do."

"What what what, what is it?"

"Survival Training."

"Survival Training?"

"Why are we going to train when it's a mission?" Sakura questioned, "We had plenty of training at the academy."

"This is no ordinary training." I pointed out.

"Then, then what kind of training is it?" Naruto asked.

I chuckled.

"Hey, what's so funny, Sensei?" Sakura inquired.

"Well, if I say this, I'm sure you four are going to be surprised." I replied.

I watched at they stared at me questionably. Glancing up, I saw the small smirk that was playing on Emiko's lips.

Did she already know?

"Out of the 28 graduates," I began, "Only nine or ten are going to become Genins. The other 18 or 19 will be sent back to the academy. In other words, this training is going to be a very hard test with a dropout rate of 67%."

I watched as their expressions changed and smirked.

"See? You three are surprised!"

"No way! I went through so much trouble... Then what was the final exam for?" Naruto panicked.

"That? It just picks out those who are qualified to become a Genin."

"What?!"

"Anyway, I'm going to determine whether you pass or fail on Monday at the training grounds. Bring your shinobi equipment and meet at 5 AM! Now then, meeting over." I turned around, may back facing the Genin. I glanced over my shoulder as I remembered something. "Oh yeah, don't eat breakfast. You're going to throw up if you do."

With that, I hopped onto the railing, made a hand sign, and poofed outside of my house with Emiko on my shoulder. Walking towards the house, we both held a smirk on our faces. Before we entered Emiko said only one thing.

"You're evil Kashi-oji"
