Ch.3: Meeting a Nara
Re-cap
A tall man walked out of the crowd of shinobi and bowed down to the Hokage. Gai was a well-built man with high cheek bones, thick eyebrows and black hair cut into a bowl cut style. He wore a green jumpsuit, orange striped legwarmers and the standard Konoha flak jacket. His forehead protector was on a redcloth and was worn around his waist, like a belt.
"Gai, can you go and get..."

Emiko's POV
"Gai, can you go and get Kakashi Hatake as he is late for this meeting." The Hokage instructed to the now known Shinobi, Gai.
Gai nodded and disappeared in a puff of smoke. I awkwardly stood there with the other shinobi staring at me in silence. I started to fidget in my place in front of the Hokage's desk. I looked down and fiddled with the fabric of my kimono. As if one cue, many of the shinobi awed at the sight of me. I blushed slightly in embarrassment from all the attention and hid my face in my hands to hide my blush. This caused many of the kunoichi who were present to squeal. I peeked at them from behind my fingers and saw the girls squealing in front of me with their hands clapped together and hearts in their eyes. The men in the room looked away with a small tint of pink on their cheeks. My blush darkened when one of the shinobi couldn't help but pinch my red cheeks. Many awed at the sight once again which caused my blush to darken even more if that was possible. I swear that my blush was as red as the kimono I was wearing.
I quickly ran away from the hands that were pinching my cheeks and ran to the Hokage's side. I was shorter than the desk so I tiptoed to peek at what the shinobi were doing now. They were still squealing and blushing when they saw me, so I quickly ducked down under the desk and hid my face in my tucked in knees. I gave a small squeak when I felt arms wrap around my waist and lift me up. Soon enough I landed on someone's lap with a hat over my head.
The hat was too large for me so it covered my eyes slightly. I lifted the hat up a bit and saw that I was sitting on the Hokage's lap with his hat on my head. I stared up at him with curious eyes as he stared at me with wise and happy eyes. Smiling up at him, I took off his hat and placed it back on his head. I jumped off the Hokage's lap and ran to the group of kunoichi. They immediately began to coo at me. I smiled shyly at them and looked down at my feet.
"Awww, aren't you a cutie. I bet once your older a lot of guys will be asking you out." A random kunoichi commented.
I blushed again at this comment and heard many of the man in the room growl.
"She will not date anyone until we all approve." Many of the men said in unison.
The kunoichi and I sweat dropped.
'They're so overprotective already and we (they) haven't been with her (me) for very long.' We thought.
All of the shinobi turned when the doors opened. In came Gai and an unidentified shinobi. He was a fair-skinned, fit and relatively tall shinobi. He had gravity defying silver hair, and dark-coloured eyes. The shinobi's posture seemed lazy but if you were observant you could tell that he was tense and guarded. He wore the standard attire of a shinobi and wore metal-plated gloves. He wore a mask, which obscured the lower half of his face, only revealing his right eye. His hitai-ate was worn on a simple blue band, tilted to the left to cover his left eye that held his Sharingan.
I smirked when I saw his covered eye. This man was Kakashi of the Sharingan or the Copy Ninja, as he was known in the bingo book. Kakashi Hatake, son of Sakumo Hatake, also known as "Konoha's White Fang." His mother died at a young age leading his father into a state of depression. After his father fell into disgrace, he suicide. Minato Namikaze led the team that Kakashi was assigned to. He was teamed with Rin Nohara and my long distant uncle, Obito Uchiha. I have a full report on Kakashi that was sealed in a scroll that I had on me at all times.
Kakashi stared at me strangely with a raised eyebrow.
"You summoned me Hokage-sama?" Kakashi asked.
"I summoned you to this meeting two hours ago Kakashi." The Hokage sighed.
I chuckled lightly. I haven't met Kakashi in person before so I never thought he was the tardy type. He reminds me of... my eyes widened slightly as I stared at Kakashi with sad eyes. That's what Obito used to be like. He was always late to meetings even if they were important and gave some dumb excuse. I guess you're wondering how I know this, but I won't tell. All secrets will be revealed soon.
"Gomen," Kakashi said lazily as he rubbed the back of his head, "I got lost on the path of life. So who's the kid?"
"You need to come up with better excuses Kakashi. You've used that one over a million times already. As for the child, this is Emiko Uchiha." The Hokage said.
"Uchiha?" Kakashi asked with a raised eyebrow as he stared at me with interest, "Weren't they all killed in the massacre?"
"They were Kakashi, but Emiko is a special case. She was hidden from our eyes for four years even though she lived in the Uchiha compound. She was then taken to the Akatsuki where she was raised until now."
"The Akatsuki? Why would the kid be living there?"
I smiled as I ran to Kakashi and hugged his legs. Since he was fairly tall, my head only reached up to his thighs.
"It's nice to finally see you again Kakashi-oji. My name is Emiko Uchiha. Papa told me many stories about you and your team." I said.
"Oh, he did? Who is your father Emiko-chan? And why do you call me oji?" Kakashi asked.
"My papa is Itachi Uchiha. I call you oji because you used to watch over me when I was in Konoha."
After saying that, I climbed onto Kakashi's back and started to flatten down his spiky hair. I heard many of the shinobi, chuckle at my antics but I ignored them and focused on the task at hand. After a few minutes of trying to flatten Kakashi's hair and failing at it, I became tired. I tiredly rubbed my eyes and laid my head on Kakashi's. Giving out a small yawn, tightened my hands a little on his hair. I was currently sitting on his shoulders as he was holding on the calves of my legs so i wouldn't fall.
Kakashi-oji wouldn't mind if I fell asleep on his shoulders right?
Soon enough, I fell into a deep sleep.
Kakashi's POV
I felt Emiko's hands stop in their task and heard her give out a small yawn. Soon I felt her head on my own and her body slowly relaxing. Chuckling, I grabbed her off my shoulders and carried her in my arms. Almost immediately, she curled up into my chest. My eyes softened as I watched her sleep peacefully in my arms.
"Kakashi, do you know what Emiko meant when she said that you used to watch over her?" I heard the Hokage ask.
I looked up and shook my head.
"Not that I could re-" I stopped myself when I suddenly remembered something.
Flashback
I walked down the streets of Konoha reading my Icha Icha Paradise book. Sighing, I came to a stop in front of the Uchiha compound. I rubbed the back of my head sighing once again.
'Why did I agree to do this again?' I thought.
I walked inside and towards the address that was written on the piece of paper in my spare hand. I glanced up when I stopped in front of a small one-story house. The house wasn't anything bad. It looked like it would only fit about four people and it seemed comfortable. I walked forward and gently knocked on the wooden sliding door. I waited for a while and looked back at the address.
I'm sure I got the address right. Maybe Itachi wrote it wrong.
As I was about to leave, the front door slid open and out came a very tired Itachi Uchiha. My eyes widened when I saw him. Not once have I ever seen Itachi like this. He's seventeen and looks like he's already growing out white hair. He had bags under his eyes and his hair was messed up. Itachi yawned and glanced up at me.
"Oh, Kakashi-sempai, thank you for coming on such short notice. I hope it wasn't a bother." Itachi stated tiredly.
"It wasn't a problem Itachi. Now where's the kid you want me to watch?" I asked.
"She's inside playing with her teddy bear."
I nodded and walked inside. The house was small but welcoming. I turned my head to the left when I heard a small giggle. I walked to the living room where I saw a small girl playing with a giant teddy bear. The girl was dancing around with a charming smile on her face. The small girl was wearing a blue kimono with the Uchiha crest on the back. The girl stopped dancing when she saw me standing by the door. Smiling at me she walked towards me with pose and grace. I could tell that she was raised to act like a princess but wasn't spoiled like one.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Hatake-sama. I am Emiko Uchiha. I have heard many stories about you. Are you the one who will be taking care of me this afternoon?" The girl bowed as she introduced herself.
I was surprised by the girl's use of words and her manners. You don't see many kids her age with such manners. She only appeared to be around 3-years-old too.
"Yeah, I'll be taking care of you kiddo." I responded.
Turning to Itachi, I gave him a closed eye smile.
"No need to worry Itachi, I'll take care of the kid for you. I understand that your long distant aunt wanted you to take care of her, but you don't need to be here. You seem tired. Go home and rest." I said.
Itachi hesitated at first before nodding. He walked passed me towards Emiko and gave her a small kiss on the forehead. I was a bit surprised at the affection the young Uchiha prodigy was showing towards the child. I have never seen Itachi act like this, not even to his own brother Sasuke.
"Be good Emiko, and don't gave Kakashi-sempai a hard time okay? I'll come and see you tomorrow morning." Itachi said.
Emiko smiled and nodded. She waved goodbye to Itachi as he left.
Flashback Ended
I snapped out of my thoughts when I felt someone shaking me. I slapped the hands away and made sure Emiko was still asleep in my arms.
"Baka, are you trying to wake Emiko up?" I asked the green blob of so called 'youth'.
"Of course not. But are you okay Kakashi, you spaced out there." Gai asked.
I sighed and nodded, "I'm fine Gai, just remembered where I met Emiko before."
"Oh, so you have met Emiko before. Tell us Kakashi where?" The Hokage said.
"Itachi would be stressed out a lot when he was still in Konoha. He said that his long distant aunt would constantly ask him to watch her daughter. Itachi asked if I could watch Emiko for him and I gladly did so when I saw Itachi. He was really out of it. I never saw him like that before. It looked like he hadn't slept for days. I think Emiko was three the first time I met her. She was extremely polite and had a vast knowledge on a variety of things." I explained.
"Is that so." The Hokage said.
I nodded at him and stared down at Emiko.
"So what are we going to do with her?" I asked.
The Hokage sighed and stared at Emiko's sleeping form.
"We will put a seal on her that will let us know where she is. When the Akatsuki come and retrieve her, the seal will lead us to where they are located, but the seal will have to be redone every 2 months or so. For now, she will live with you Kakashi, as Sasuke knows nothing about her right now."
"Yes Hokage-sama." I said and bowed a little as to not wake up Emiko.
Soon all the shinobi in the room were dismissed and we all left. I used a transportation jutsu to transport Emiko and I in front of my house. Sighing I walked up the staircase to the guest bedroom where Emiko will sleep. I laid her in bed and tucked her in. I smiled slightly when I saw her snuggle up to the bear she was holding. I kissed her forehead and went downstairs to cook something for when she wakes up.
I think I think I might have just gotten too attached to her.
Emiko's POV
I opened my eyes to feel an empty space at my side. I tiredly opened my eyes to see that Papa wasn't beside me. He always slept with me when I took a nap. Then I remembered being kidnapped and taken to Konoha. I was no longer with my family and Papa would no longer kiss my forehead goodnight or train me. I felt my eyes water slightly as I remembered this. Sobs slowly escaped my lips as tears began to flow down my cheeks. I covered my mouth to stop the sobs as I felt a chakra signature approaching the room. I watched as the door opened and a familiar silver haired man enter. We both stared at each other until he walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. That was all it took for me to let out all of my sadness. Kakashi said nothing as he just sat there on the bed and hugged me. I didn't mind the silence for all I needed was him to be there for me.
After a few minutes, I stopped crying and released Kakashi.
"Thank you for helping me, Kakashi-oji." I said.
"Why are you thanking me for Emiko?" Kakashi asked.
"You comforted me when I needed it. You said nothing to me, but I was okay with it. After all, actions express more than words could ever say."
"Wise words from a kid. Are you alright now?"
"Yes, thank you again."
"No problem Emiko. Now let's head outside. I'm gonna treat you to dinner, since there were some technical difficulties in the kitchen."
I stared at Kakashi strangely but nodded non-the less.
I jumped out of bed and ran to the front door. After slipping on my shinobi sandals, I stood there waiting for Kakashi. After 10 minutes, Kakashi finally came down with his orange book in hand. Smiling down at me, he took my hand in his and led me to Yakiniku BBQ.
TimeSkip - 30 minutes
I was walking down the streets of Konoha after convincing Kakashi to let me explore the village. I visited many shops and was currently holding a couple of bags. From a kimono shop, I bought a variety of traditional, regular, and training kimonos using the money Kakashi gave to me. I bought some kunai, shuriken, senbom needles, and a lot more from the weapons shop. I also bought a pair of twin katanas that were now strapped onto my back in an X formation. The katanas were sheathed in black cases that had different symbols imprinted in gold. The hilts of the katanas were black, wrapped with gold leather giving it a diamond pattern. The tip of the hilts held chakra seals that would allow me to place my chakra in the katanas so that I could summon then when needed and enhance damage on my opponents by surrounding the blades with my chakra nature.
Smiling to myself I began humming a familiar tune. I felt the wind flow at the pace of the melody and the leaves move at the sound of my humming. from the corners of my eyes, I could see many shinobi looking around, wondering about the sudden change in the winds and trees. Other shinobi were staring at me and wondering if the change was my doing. I chuckled and closed my eyes, still humming until it was time.

As I ended the song with some more humming, I opened my eyes to see many of the shinobi and villagers standing still with their eyes closed. This was one of the perks of my singing. In that small amount of time of me singing, I was able to let this entire village have a feeling of safety and serenity. But my songs can also have dangerous affects as well. I can make someone feel pain or make someone fall asleep. It all depends on the song. I smiled and continued onward, ignoring the confused stares I was receiving from the shinobi who were staring at me.
"That was a beautiful song you sang," I heard an unfamiliar voice say from behind.
I twirled around and saw a boy who looked about 12-years-old. He was slouching with his hands in his pockets with a bored expression on his face; kind of reminding me of Kakashi. The boy had shoulder length dark brown hair tied in a spiky ponytail, and narrow brown eyes. His attire was rather plain, consisting of a green lined mesh t-shirt under a short sleeved grey jacket with green edges, adorned on both the sleeves and the back with a circle with a line through it, brown pants, and blue shinobi sandals. He also wore silver hoop earrings.
Smiling up at the lazy boy, I asked, "Thank you, who are you mister?"
"The name's Shikamaru Nara." The boy introduced.
I remembered having a report on the Nara clan in my scroll with Kakashi-oji's report. The Nara clan or Nara family was known for their intelligence, ninjutsu that entails the manipulation of shadows, and tending of deer such as Rikumaru, which graze in a large area of the Nara Clan Forest. Shikaku Nara was the most recent head of the clan.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Nara-sama. My name is Emiko Uchiha." I said politely and bowed slightly.
"An Uchiha? How is that possible? I heard they were all massacred. Oh and no need for formalities. Just call me Shika or whatever. I'm no one special." Shikamaru said.
"Then I'll call you Shika-kun. Oh and I'm an Uchiha because I was kept hidden by my Papa who is Itachi Uchiha."
Shikamaru nodded at me and stared at the bags in my hands.
"I'll just call you Mi-chan since it would be too troublesome to say your whole name. Need a hand kid?"
"It's alright. The house I live in is just around the corner so I'll be fine. Thank you for the offer though."
"Your extremely polite for a kid your age you know."
"I get that a lot. Well I should go now, my guardian will ask me where I've been once I get home."
"Okay, it was nice meeting you Mi-chan."
"Same here. By the way Shika-kun, do you know anyone named Sasuke Uchiha."
"He's in the same class as me. Why?"
"Well, I have never met him before, and I'd like to meet the only other family I have besides my father."
"I'll let you meet him tomorrow. Just go to the academy and meet me in my class, kay?"
"Okay, bye for now Shika-kun. See you tomorrow." I said as I waved goodbye.
"Bye Mi-chan." Shikamaru said bored, giving me a lazy wave.
Smiling I ran towards the house I staying at with Kakashi. Once I was inside, I was immediately bombarded with questions.
"Where have you been? Do you know how late it is? I've been waiting for two hours for you. Do you know how worried I was? I thought you were attacked by drunk men."
I glanced at the clock and saw that it was only 7:00 in the afternoon and the sun was still out; no one would be in the bars at this time to get drunk. I left at 6:00 meaning I was out for only one hour. I sweat dropped at Kakashi then smiled at him.
"I'm sorry Kakashi-oji. I finished walking around the village and met a new friend. His name is Shikamaru Nara. I'm sorry for making you worry. I promise I won't do it again." I explained with puppy dog eyes.
Kakashi tried to resist but I knew that with one look of these eyes, even the most murderous of criminals would give in. Sighing, Kakashi rubbed the back of his head and nodded, meaning he forgave me. I grinned and glomped him. Kakashi chuckled and hugged me back. After placing me back on the ground, I told him that I'd be going to sleep early since the Hokage said that I'd be attending the academy tomorrow. Kakashi nodded and placed a small kiss on my forehead and pushed me towards my room. I waved at him before entering my room and getting ready for bed. I stared at the ceiling before falling asleep with only one thought on my mind.
I guess I'll finally meet the one who will take my Papa away.
