Hokage's POV

I sat at my desk behind piles of paperwork. I sighed and sat back in my chair. As Hokage I love my village and job, but the paperwork is a real toll on me. I took out my pipe from my mouth and puffed out a small cloud of smoke. I then leaned forward and began signing some more papers. As I read a mission report for an A rank mission, a puff of smoke appeared in front of me. I glanced up from my work to see an ANBU kneeling before me. I stared at him for a while before nodding. The ANBU stood up and cleared his throat.

"Hokage-sama, we have successfully captured an Akatsuki member. The shinobi is now in the torture and interrogation building being interrogated by Ibiki Morino." The ANBU informed me.

My eyes widened slightly when I heard that we have captured an Akatsuki member. I have heard many things from the other shinobi villages about the Akatsuki. The Akatsuki is an organization of S Rank criminals who have grouped together for unknown reasons. They were said to be very difficult to capture and spot, as they were ruthless shinobi who have astounding skills and very bloody pasts. All come from different shinobi villages, have turned rouge, and were shunned by their villages. They were keeping a low profile for a while and haven't been heard of or seen until now.

"And who is this member Takashi?" I asked the ANBU.

Even behind his mask I knew this specific shinobi was Takashi Morizuko. Although all members of the ANBU black ops wore the same uniform, they each had their own distinct mask. Takashi's was a white mask in the shape of a hawk that had eccentric designs on the cheeks and three vertical lines on the forehead.

"We do not know sir as the Akatsuki member is still being interrogated and has not disclosed any information on herself or the organization." Takashi stated.

My left eyebrow rose when I heard that the member they have caught was a female. I have always thought that the Akatsuki only consisted of males.

"Oh? Well, it shouldn't take long for Ibiki to acquire information from the girl. Is there anything else you need to inform me of, Takashi?" I inquired.

"Well sir," Takashi began to say a bit hesitant, "The member we have caught appears no older than 8-years-old."

My pipe fell out of my mouth as I digested the information I was just given. I stood up immediately and teleported both Takashi and I in front of the torture and interrogation building. I ran through the halls towards the cells where the prisoners were questioned. I stopped when I saw a shinobi with long blond hair standing in front of a cell with a pitiful look on his face.

"Inoichi, where is this Akatsuki member being interrogated?" I asked quickly.

Inoichi was one of the members of the interrogation unit and was the head of the Yamanaka clan. This clan specializes in mind-centred techniques, which made them perfect for collecting information. Inoichi had long blond hair reaching unto his back, which is wore, spiky on top and ending in a long ponytail, blue-green eyes and strong facial features, which included a well, defined jawline. He wore the standard outfit of the Konoha Interrogation Unit, complete with a long black overcoat.

"Hokage-sama, she is currently being interrogated in this cell sir," Inoichi stated as he pointed to the cell that he was currently standing in front of, "Ibiki has not obtained any information about the Akatski member of the organization."

I nodded and opened the cell. My eyes widened as I saw what was in the room. Cabinets were open displaying poisons and weapons, a cart was standing by the side carrying an assortment of torture devices, but what caught my attention was what was in the middle of the room. In the centre of the room, was a young girl who looked no older than 8, tied up in a chair with chakra seals around her wrists, ankles, and neck. Her long raven hair was disheveled and her pale skin was masked with cuts, gashes, and bruises. Even though such damage was inflicted on the young girl, no signs of struggle or pain were expressed on her face. I heard both Takashi and Inoichi gasp behind me. Ibiki stood in front of the girl holding a kunai and was about to stab her.

"IBIKI, STOP!" I commanded.

Ibiki stopped, as the kunai was only a centimetre away from the girl's face. The girl didn't even flinch as her eyes glanced in my way. My breath hitched when I saw her eyes. No words would describe the pain the child's eyes held. Her silver and gold-flaked onyx eyes held all the pain and suffering that her face would not express. This one thing made me feel like I was about to cry.

I ran to the girl's side and with a flick of my wrist, all of her bindings were off. The girl slumped forward as I caught her in my arms. I heard the girl breathe in and out as she took gulps of air to try and slow down her heart rate.

"A-arigatō..." The child whispered hoarsely in my ear as her body suddenly went limp.

I carried the girl in my arms as I laid her on the ground. A green chakra enveloped both Inoichi and Takashi's hands as they began to heal's the girl's wounds. But before the two could begin the healing process, silver like wisps floated around the girl's body. Each wound the strands of silver touched would heal instantly. Ibiki, Inoichi, Takashi, and I stared in awe at the phenomenon that was happening in front of our eyes. When the last wound on the child's body healed the threads of silver spread across the room and slowly faded into nothing. Takashi was the first to snap out of the trance and picked the girl up in his arms. He turned towards me and awaited further orders.

I cleared my throat, which caused both Inoichi and Ibiki to snap out of their daze.

"Takashi, take the girl to the hospital and keep watch on her until she wakes up. Report back to me once she has awakened." I ordered.

Takashi nodded and teleported to the hospital with the child in his arms. I turned to the two interrogation members and told them to go and watch the young girl as well and to report to me every now and then about her condition. They nodded and teleported to the hospital after bowing to me.

I sighed and walked out the building and onto the streets of Konoha. Villagers and shinobi waved at me as they passed. I smiled and waved back as I thought of what happened. I felt guilt consume me as I remembered the look on the young girl's face. I know that Ibiki would go through any type of torture to obtain the needed information. That girl went through such torture at such a young age. Grown men would have immediately yielded and give the information that was needed, but the girl didn't. She endured the torture and showed no pain as to not satisfy Ibiki.

I sighed and walked back to the Hokage building to complete all the paperwork I haven't finished yet. Hopefully, the child will wake up soon.

Emiko'sPOV

Pain.

That's all I felt as I floated in darkness.

Why did I have to be kidnapped by the Konoha Nin? Why did I have to be tortured for information on the Akatsuki? I was only 8-years-old. Just because Papa was a traitor in their eyes, must they make him suffer more by taking me away? I was all Papa had left. I was the only thing that kept him alive besides uncle Sasuke's revenge for the clan. They may not know about me, but they're already indirectly making Papa suffer.

I forced my eyes open only to be blinded by bright lights. I blinked before the scenery became clear. I stared up at the white ceiling and sat up after a while. I groaned as I felt a jolt of pain come from my abdomen where the interrogator stabbed me with a poisoned kunai. I took in my surroundings and noted I was in a hospital room. I lay on a white bed, wearing the regular hospital gown, with a needle in my wrist, which was connected to an IV that stood by the side fo the bed. I sighed again. I didn't like being in the hospital. It was always so boring or sad in here. I sighed once again and plopped on my back with my forearm on my forehead. I tensed as I felt a chakra signature coming towards the room. I sat up and watched as the handle of the door turned slightly and opened. I stared at the ANBU member as he stared back at me. The ANBU wore the standard uniform and a hawk shaped mask with strange designs on the cheeks and three vertical lines on its forehead.

"I see you are up. Please do not make any attempts to escape as I get the Hokage. He would like to speak to you." The ANBU informed me.

I nodded slowly in understanding as the ANBU left the room to fetch the Hokage. I leaned back into my bed as I stared down at my hands. I glanced up when I heard the door open again. I stared at the old man who had just entered and taken a seat beside my bed. He was a light-skinned man of below average stature with grey hair. As Hokage he wore the official uniform, consisting of the customary hat and haori, along with a red full-length kimono that was tied using a white sash. A pipe was placed in his mouth as he puffed out small clouds of smoke.

"I see you are finally awake. My name is Hiruzen Sarutobi. I am the 3rd Hokage of Konoha. Is it alright if we speak in my office?" The Hokage asked.

I simply nodded and swung my legs to the side of the bed. I noticed that I had no external wounds as they have already healed and that the pain was only an after affect of the little poison that was still in my system. I grabbed my clothes that lay at the foot of my bed and changed in the washroom. After changing I glanced at my reflection in the full-length mirror that hung on one of the walls of the washroom. I was wearing a red kimono with black and gold flowers on the bottom and ends of the sleeves. The obi that was tied around my waist was black with a gold string around the middle to match the flowers and on the back of the kimono was the kanji character for fire written in gold. My hair was tied into two high pigtails and was held with red ribbons. On my feet was a pair of black shinobi sandals.

I smiled at my reflection and stepped out of the washroom. The Hokage smiled at me and took my hand in his.

"I knew that outfit would look good on you. You could be the princess of the Land of Fire when you wear that." The Hokage complimented.

I blushed and gently smiled as the Hokage's eyes softened. I looked around the village as we walked down the streets to the Hokage building. I saw many villagers smile and wave at me. I smiled back and gave a small wave. I stopped in my tracks as I felt a small body collide with my own. I fell on my bottom as the small body groaned on top of me. I blinked as I picked up the small girl that was lying on my stomach. The girl stared up at me in awe as I smiled at her.

"Are you alright?" I asked lightly.

The little girl smiled and nodded.

"Thank you for breaking my fall. I'm sorry for bumping into you. I didn't look where I was going. It's nice to meet you Hime-sama." The girl said.

I blinked again and chuckled lightly.

"I'm not a princess. I'm only a couple years older than you as well. You should go now; your mother must be looking for you. But before you leave, I'll give something to you to remember me by." I said softly with a smile.

I summoned a necklace out of thin air and placed it around the girl's neck. The necklace held a red stone that was wrapped with four pieces of gold metal that imitated the appearance of string. The string knotted on top of the stone before connecting to a leather cord. The stone hung from a cord that twisted itself like a rope. The stone itself had a small light flickering from within, that if you looked closer you would think a small fire was lit inside the necklace. I wouldn't normally give something like this to someone else but I had already taken a great liking towards this girl.

"This is a chakra stone. If you are in trouble or need me, use this to call me. To do so all you have to do is place a bit of chakra into it and say 'Honō' meaning blaze. Once you say that I will appear by your side. My name is Emiko by the way." I said.

"Wow, thank you Onee-chan! I'm Kasai Amarante! Mama said it means fire flower that never fades." Kasai said happily.

"Kasai huh? Then this necklace will suit you well."

I picked Kasai off my stomach as I was still sitting on the ground and told her to go to her mother. Kasai nodded and waved goodbye to me as she ran to her mother. I waved back with a small smile on my face.

A cough from behind me got my attention as I turned to see the Hokage waiting for me.

"Gomen'nasai Hokage-sama. We should be on our way." I said gently.

The Hokage chuckled lightly and nodded. He grabbed my hand once again and led me towards the Hokage building. Once we were there, we climbed up the staircase that led to his office. We stopped in front of a pair of mahogany doors and glanced at each other. The Hokage opened the door and pulled me inside with him. As I was playing with the hems of my sleeves, I didn't notice the other shinobi that were in the room. When I looked up I saw that many eyes were on me. I blushed slightly from all the attention I was receiving and hid behind the hokage and grabbed the back of his haori. I heard him chuckle as he glanced over his shoulder to look at me. He walked towards his desk with me following closely behind. After sitting in his seat, the Hokage lifted me up on his desk where my legs hung over the side. I stared at him questionably as to why he took me here.

"Now little one, please tell us about yourself and why you were with the Akatsuki." The Hokage said.

I heard gasps erupt around the room as they heard this. Whispers about me being the captured Akatsuki member resounded throughout the whispers.

"My name is Emiko Uchiha." I introduced myself with a soft voice.

"WAIT YOU'RE AN UCHIHA!" The shinobi in the room yelled.

I nodded and chuckled, "My Papa is Itachi Uchiha and my Mama was Kyoko Uchiha. I was born on March 14th and was hidden from civilization for 4 years. After the clan massacre, Papa took me with him to the Akatsuki where I was raised for another 4 years. I was taken on a mission with Papa and my uncle to steal a scroll from Konoha. Leader sama said that the scroll would help the organization in the future. Before you ask, I will not go against the Akatsuki and give you the information you want. You can torture me all you want, but I will not give in. The Akatsuki is my family and I will not be a traitor to them." I said strongly.

I could tell that many of the shinobi in the room were surprised by my words but I ignored it as I stared at the Hokage for his final answer.

The Hokage sighed as he stared at me with soft eyes. "So young but so wise. Are you sure that you would not enclose us with any information?"

I nodded with a smile. "I'd rather be tortured in front of millions of eyes than to be a traitor to my family."

The Hokage smiled slightly at my words.

"Then I have a proposition for you." The Hokage said as he leaned back in his chair.

My eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

"Why don't you stay here in Konoha to become a shinobi? After all, this is your home village." The Hokage said.

My eyes widened slightly when i heard this. I always wanted to become a real shinobi and protect my village like Papa and Mama once have. These people were willing to take me in as their own even though I wouldn't give them any information about the Akatsuki. My eyes watered slightly as a smile graced my face. I jumped off the desk and into the Hokage's arms.

"Arigatō." I whispered into his ear.

The Hokage chuckled lightly and hugged me back. I pulled away from the hug when I heard someone grunt in disagreement.

"Hokage-sama, are you sure we can trust this brat? For all we know, she could run away once she gains all our trust." A random person said.

I felt my anger heightened at this remark. Soon the office was shaking from my anger.

"I AM NOT A BRAT!" I yelled.

"Is this child doing this?" The shinobi shrieked.

I tried to clam down but it wasn't working. The Hokage took out my stuffed bear Kou-kun from under his desk and placed it in my arms. Immediately, I calmed down and snuggled into the fur of my bear.

"She is so cute!" A woman squealed.

I turned and smiled lightly at the shinobi who said. She was a fairly tall and light-skinned woman of slender build. She had long, black, shoulder-length untamed hair, and very unique eyes that are red in colour, with an additional ring in them. She wore make up consisting of red lipstick and purple eye shadow. Her outfit consists of a red mesh armour blouse with only the right sleeve visible. Over this was very broad material that resembles bandages with a pattern on it similar to those of rose thorns. Her hands and upper thighs were also wrapped in bandages and she wore the Konoha forehead protector and regular shinobi sandals. Over all she was very pretty.

I smiled at her and ran in front of her.

"Your very pretty miss. What is your name?" I asked.

The woman blushed at my compliment and kneeled so she was at my level.

"I'm Kurenai Yūhi. It's nice to meet you Emiko-chan." The lady introduced herself.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Yūhi-sama." I bowed.

Kurenai blushed again and pulled me into a hug.

"Awww!!! You're so cute! You can call me Kurenai-oba if you want. I could be your aunt." Kurenai suggested.

I nodded and hugged her back.

"You know, in that kimono you could be the princess of the Land of Fire." Kurenai said as she stared at my outfit.

I heard many agree to Kurenai's statement. I smiled at my clothes.

"A little girl I bumped into and the Hokage thought so as well. Umm... Hokage-sama, not to be rude, but where am I going to live? I'm kind of tired right now." I asked.

Many shinobi shouted that I could live with them. This caused them to yell at each other that I was going to live with them. The Hokage and I sweat dropped at this. The Hokage quieted everyone down and called for someone named Gai. A tall man walked out of the crowd of shinobi and bowed down at the Hokage. Gai was a well-built man with high cheekbones, thick eyebrows and black hair cut in a bowl cut style. He wore a green jumpsuit, orange striped leg warmers and the standard Konoha flak jacket. His forehead protector was on a red cloth and was worn around his waist, like a belt.

"Gai, can you please go and get..."
