Ringo thought a lot about not going. In the end, however, he decided to go to his ex's wedding. He'd talked about going with George endlessly. George never told him to stop, and instead let him make up his mind on his own.

"Attending my ex's-wedding, uh, I dunno," Ringo would begin. George would look up from his phone, and shift his attention towards Ringo. "Yes, but, Elliot needs me. She asked me to come as a friend. Why can't I be a bloody good friend?"

"Elliot needs you," George would repeat the words back.

"She does, doesn't she? She was just looking out for me when she warned me my relationship with Elise would end badly!"

"She was just looking out for you," George said. Ringo nodded his head, yes, Elliot's intentions had been good. "You know how the rest of the song goes, don't ya Rings?"

"What song?"

"It won't be long."

"Huh?"

"She kept saying, it won't be long...according to McLennon it won't be long until you belong to her."

That was the single conversation that made Ringo think George was mad. Belonging to Elliot seemed so absurd...yet she was the only one that had foreseen what was going to happen. She'd tried to stop him. When things did in fact end badly, Elliot listened to him. After two weeks of contemplating this, Ringo decided to go to the wedding.

No one asked George to come as support, but he did anyway.

Once they landed in Vegas, Paul for his date, John to see his girlfriend, George and Ringo for the wedding, Ringo let out a sigh. He needed to get all of them through another trip in Vegas, that last time that had happened, it'd nearly been a disaster. Ringo texted Elliot, not expecting a reply any time soon.

George and Ringo headed downstairs to the casino. They were just passing the time until the wedding. Ringo's phone went off, he brought it out of his jacket pocket and read the message.

Did I tell you what happened the last time I was in Vegas?

Elliot Calderon:

No. Elise mentioned the trip, though

Paul planned the whole thing. He didn't involve Brian at all

Elliot Calderon:

The first sign the trip was doomed

Right?

Elliot Calderon:

He's a genius

So Paul planned the trip. Because he planned the whole thing, he wanted to be in control. So he told us we were banned from texting any birds, or seeing any birds

Elliot Calderon:

Okay, that rule is a little odd but I'm right there with you

Paul ends on getting drunk, falling down some stairs. He loses his phone. He ends all miserable. John kept pretending he was having the time of his life. All of the pretending made him miserable too. George missed his girlfriend, so he was also blue

Elliot Calderon:

What about you?

Watching everyone be miserable? It rubbed off on me. I kept saying Vegas doesn't make a miserable man happier, it only make him more miserable

Elliot Calderon:

One more reason to stay off Vegas, I suppose

Ringo stared at his phone. He quickly wished Elliot good luck, then put his phone away. He decided not to over analyze everything Elliot said. He played with some of the slots machines for a couple of hours. He watched George play poker. Then, he left to get ready for Elise's wedding. When he came upstairs to the room he was sharing with George, he meet with Paul on the hallway. Paul had just been stepping out of the room he was sharing with John.

"Off to your date, then?" Ringo asked.

Paul nodded his head. "I've got a car waiting downstairs for me."

"Best of luck to ya."

"I don't know," Paul said. "I don't know if I need luck. I think I've been plenty lucky so far."

"Ain't that the truth," he muttered. After losing his phone on the trip, Paul had found it. His phone had been saved by no other than the cocktail waitress he'd been eyeing all night. All of that, Ringo thought, surely required luck.

. . .

It didn't hurt as much as he thought it would, seeing Elise marry Cam. His whole relationship with Elise had been a mess to begin with. All of the sneaking off from both of their parts had cost him a lot of energy. Ringo couldn't remember being more tired than he had during the length of their secret and forbidden relationship.

It'd been lust, Ringo realized. It'd been lust and not love that had drove him to Elise. Of course Elise was beautiful, of course she looked like a princess straight out of a Disney movie, standing there marrying Cam.

But Elliot was something different. She was smart. She was witty. She could speak for hours about all of the things she knew, but she choose to listen instead. She was kind. She was different from any other type of girl Ringo had been with. If at the beginning that had drove him away, it now pulled him towards Elliot.

(Ringo had meet Elliot first, but instead of realizing what was right in front of him, he'd asked for Elise's number.)

Ringo saw Elliot standing by her sister as one of the bridesmaids and couldn't help think she was beautiful. When ceremony was over, he made his way towards the bar where Elliot was standing. He tapped her shoulder. She sipped her white wine, nearly finishing it all in a gulp, before turning.

"Ringo?"

"Elliot."

She put her glass of wine down. "I didn't know you were coming."

"Oh," Ringo said. He could see how he'd been misleading. He hadn't spoken to Elliot since she'd asked him to come. She'd taken his silence as a no, and that made sense. "Sorry. I wasn't sure if I was, y'know. I didn't want to say yes one day, then no the next day."

"Yeah, I know. I'm sorry—"

"No, no," he stopped her. "My relationship with Elise was wrong," Elliot said nothing at that. "Seeing her dressed in white, I felt nothing. It was lust, is all it was."

Elliot looked at him, as though trying to make sure if he was lying or not. "I'm happy you came to this realization."

"Me too," Ringo felt the question he wanted to ask at the tip of his tongue. He took a deep breath. "After this is over, do you want to get something to eat?"

There was a brief silence, as Elliot finished her wine and frowned. "It'll probably be breakfast."

"Scrambled eggs it is," he replied. She smiled at him carefully, and he returned her smile. It really was just breakfast, Ringo told himself. He wanted to spend sometime with Elliot, more so than he wanted to be with anyone else.

He knew it'd be a slow process, the two of them fully trusting one another. But if there were sparks, Ringo welcomed them.
