Chapter 5 - Conviction

More to come! :)
**INAPPROPRIATE FOR YOUNG READERS**

Chapter 5

Dr Brady sat with his back against the couch in his living room with Veronica's case file in his hands.

It jad said that she'd been bullied by her school peers from the delicate age of five, about the small things such as her small size, to her light weight; to her strangely coloured eyes.

He'd read numerous reports from teachers about her behaviour in class - she was quiet with potential - and from neighbours. They'd all regarded her as a bright, cheerful young girl who never caused any trouble.

Her parents had been loving towards her and had given her gifts and much their time - which he supposed was partly done to make up for her situation at school. Everything about her parents screamed that they'd loved their daughter; there had been no signs of abuse physically and she'd been thoroughly examined by many of those in his profession, and she'd displayed no other signs of being sexually, emotionally or otherwise psychologically abused, - at least the signs which were usually displayed at her age.

They could never rule abuse out for sure because although she'd not displayed any of the signs, she was still an individual who perhaps had her own ways of dealing with the abuse, if she'd ever suffered from any.

Staring at the autopsy and crime scene photos he honestly tried to imagine how a young girl who was small for her age had managed to stab both of her parents to death without any signs of stuggle and without an obvious motive.

He supposed the trauma of being bullied could have had something to do with it, but heck, loads of kids were bullied at her age - he'd been bullied quite badly at her age, he knew.

It was a sad occurence, but not many children killed their parents because of it. Especially not parents who'd supported their daughter throughout and had done all but moved away from the area to resolve it.

They hadn't gone peacefully either.

Her parents had both been stabbed in areas containing their vital organs such as the heart, lungs and stomach, ensuring a quicker but much more painful death, and her mother had even been stabbed in the neck shortly after death for good measure.

He shook his head. Not a single witness. How did that work?

They'd lived on a subarban street; surrounded by a lot of neighbours, how could it be that no one had heard them being killed?

And then there was the inconclusive report.
