Annabeth
I ran my hands over my jeans, desperately trying to smooth them out. I was nervous about meeting Percy's mom. I had liked Percy for a couple months now, and I was scared. I know Percy didn't return the feeling, but still. A little piece of me still had hope.
Hope.
I hadn't thought of that since I ran.
SCREEEDCH
I banged my head against the window.
"We're here!" Percy said cheerfully. I shot him a small smile. "Great." He slapped my arm playfully. "My mom will love you. I don't bring girls home often." A warm tingle came. He didn't have a girlfriend. "Oh.." I said, trying to hide my excitement.
Percy stepped into the door, and the house was cozy. It had pictures everywhere. I picked one up, and saw that it was a seven year old Percy, on the beach with a boogie board. He was grinning, and I laughed. Percy turned around and his face flushed.
"I...ummmm"
"Awww, don't beat yourself up seaweed brain!"
"Seaweed brain? Where did that come from?" He questioned.
"Well, almost every picture of you is at the beach, so.."
"Well, whatever you say, wise girl."
I smiled, liking my new nickname. Before I could dwell on it, a woman who I assumed was Percy's mom brought me into a rib crushing hug.
"Oh, Annabeth, I've heard so much about you!" Mrs. Jackson exclaimed.
"Hopefully good things."
"Why, nothing but the best! He always babbles on about the way you dress, all the conversations-"
"Okay, we're good." Percy interrupted. I chuckled under my breath.
"Well, Mrs. Jackson, I'd love to hear about what he gossips about me another time."
"Well, anytime! By the way, please call me Sally."
I nodded.
"Well, me and Annabeth-"
"Annabeth and I," I corrected.
"Whatever, wise girl. Annabeth and I are going to work on homework upstairs." He grabbed my hand and pulled me upstairs. His room was actually kind of clean. The walls were amazing, with a mix of blue and a green. It mixed well. My eyes swept over to his desk. Something caught my eye.
It was a picture of me and Percy. We were at school, and at my old locker. He had his arm casually slung over my shoulders, and I was in the middle of a laugh. I guess Percy had caught me staring, and spoke up.
"I remember that picture. I told you a-"
"A corny knock knock joke, and yet it was stupid enough to make me laugh."
Percy grinned. "Yeah."
I smiled even wider.
"Anyway, our plan," Percy said.
"We just have to make a big appearance. A few dances, then leave."
Percy nodded, a bit disappointed. "Yep." Just then, my phone went off.
Text from Piper: Annie, party at Leo's! Come over!
I will.
"Percy, what would you say about going to a party?"
