MJ was standing on the sidewalk outside a bakery. She sighed as she put her phone on silent and slid it into her pocket. Evie and Ned were "grieving" over the gelato that had spilled. Maybe Ned and Evie weren't concerned now, but they'd see what she was seeing eventually.

She hoped.

Something had been off about Peter ever since his future self left. But she didn't think it was just being locked in a closet. It seemed as if the experience had not unlocked new fears, but old ones.

A few years ago, when Ben was still alive, before Peter had gotten bitten by the spider, for a time he had been like this; jumpy, afraid almost. And not just him either; Evie had seemed nervous too, although not as much as her twin. Both MJ and Ned had noticed bruises in some spots, but Peter seemed so self-conscious about them they had agreed it was better not to ask, and Evie never brought them up.

At that moment, she actually saw Peter and ran towards him. "Boh!" He turned quickly to look at her and put his hands behind his back. "What?"

"Boh," she responded as they walked together. "It's the most perfect word in the world, the Italians created it and I just discovered it."

"What does it mean?"

"What does it mean? It can mean a million things." She was talking at a million miles per hour. "It can mean 'I don't know.' 'Get out of my face.' 'I don't know' and 'Get out of my face.' It's the best thing Italy created, except for maybe espresso."

Peter smiled slightly. "Oh, so you've been drinking espresso." MJ shrugged. "Eh."

A man holding roses ran up to them. "Hey! German? American. A rose for you." 

MJ smiled and looked at him. "Boh." The man stared at her with incredulity and walked off. 

"Woah," Peter said, staring as he walked off. MJ smiled again. "'Boh' is my new superpower. It's like the anti-aloha. I was born to say this word." She looked down at Peter's hands. "So what's in the bag?" 

Peter looked down too. "Oh, uh..." he shrugged. "Boh."

She looked at him in approval. "Nice." 

As the continued walking, MJ noticed a bunch of spiders crawling from underneath the dock. She bent down. "Whoa, cool. Look Peter, it's you!"

Peter rolled his eyes but smiled. She looked back at him and saw him tilt his head at the water draining from the sidewalk. He jumped as a giant wave burst out of the river, and MJ jumped up and ran back from the edge. 

A boat with Ned and Betty in it crashed onto the sidewalk beside them, and the two of them helped them out. A giant water monster had burst from the river, and MJ looked over to see Ned and Peter clutching each other's arms. 

"What is that?"

"I don't know!"

"What are you gonna do?!"

"I left my suit in the hotel!"

"Why?!" Ned's voice cracked.

"Why? Because I'm on vacation Ned! Everyone will see my face just get them out of here!" MJ pulled Ned away and the three ran. Peter helped the last few people before turning towards the thing.

MJ looked back but Ned pulled her forward, and she followed, still glancing back at him.

Peter shot a web at the monster and watched hopelessly as it did nothing. He looked around and saw Evie running towards him. "Evie!"

"Peter, I can't help!"

He stared at her. "Why not?!"

She rolled her eyes. "Maybe your powers are less obvious, but I can literally freeze stuff. I doubt that people won't connect two and two."

He sighed. "I guess you're right." Evie's eyes widened and Peter whipped around. "It's heading for the bridge!"

"Oh no you don't," he responded, and ran after it. As Evie watched, green laser beams were suddenly shot at the monster.

She glanced around and, seeing no one in close proximity, froze the bottom of it. It didn't affect it at all, and she frowned. A man with green smoke flew up behind Peter, holding out his hands and making some sort of Doctor Strange symbols.

Evie, frowning still, left to help more people get away. She heard Peter faintly yell, "Excuse me, sir! I-I can help! Let me help! I'm really strong, and I'm- I'm sticky!"

As Evie continued to run, the water monster came up towards the plaza she was in, flooding it with water. She was pushed under but managed to freeze it, getting back above the surface. She saw Peter webbing up a building, keeping it from falling on top of the orphanage, and her classmates running in her direction. 

"Evie!" Mr. Harrison called. She sighed but joined them, keeping an eye on Peter behind her as they hid.

As they sat, she saw the monster crash into the bell tower and gasped slightly. It began to fall as she stood up, but then she saw two webs shoot out and it stopped falling. She sat down again with a sigh of relief, and MJ looked over to where she was watching.

"Who is that guy?" One of their classmates asked. The girls turned around to see the man who appeared to be wearing a fishbowl choking the monster.

"I don't know, but he's kicking that monster's butt," Dave replied. Evie shook her head and looked back over to the tower, which was slowly dropping. She nodded at MJ and ran, freezing the webs in place. 

As the monster exploded, Peter flew back and Evie forward, sending Evie directly towards the falling tower. 

Peter's eyes widened as he saw her and shot out a web, pulling her away just enough so she wouldn't get the full blow.

As their class cheered, Peter pulled out the necklace, and, seeing it wasn't broken, pocketed it again as he ran over to his twin. She glared slightly at him. "Really. A souvenir being broken is more important than your sister being broken. Peter blushed as she held out a hand and he helped her up.

The two looked over at the mysterious man and he saluted them as he flew off.

"It's aliens, it has to be," Ned said, looking at his computer screen. 

"BuzzFeed says there's a sailor named Morris Bench who was exposed to an experimental underwater generator and got hydro powers," Flash put in, walking around as he looked at his phone.

"Yeah, you should definitely believe everything you read on the Internet." MJ was sitting on the stairs.

Flash glanced at her, then back at the tv. "Spider-Man could take him."

Evie listened as Peter talked to Aunt May on the phone. "No no no, we wanna stay, we wanna stay." He paused. "Yeah." 

He smiled slightly. "Doctor Strange, May. Doctor Strange. And, no, I don't know who that was." Evie shook her head. Peter paused. "Happy's there?" Evie rolled her eyes, knowing where this was going.

"Hey, Happy... what are you doing?" Peter looked at his twin and mouthed 'a leaflet drop?' Evie shrugged and waited for him to be done talking. When he was, she put an arm around his shoulder, still half leaning on him for support.

"Who is that guy?" Betty asked. "He's like Iron Man and Thor rolled into one," Dave responded.

Flash scoffed. "He's all right, but he's no Spider-Man."

"What IS it with you and Spider-Man?" MJ asked with a hint of exasperation. 

"What? He's just awesome, okay? He protects the neighborhood and he's inspiring. He inspires me to be a better man." Flash looked over at the twins. "You good Parker? I saw that building crash really close to you."

Evie nodded, smiling.

As the reporter talked, Dave spoke. "It sounds like his name's Mysterio." 

"'L'uomo del misterio' is Italian for 'man of mystery', they don't actually know who he is," MJ responded as Evie sat next to her. Dave listened to her, nodding, and Peter narrowed his eyes at him slightly.

Ned looked at the tv. "Mysterio."

"Cool name," he and Betty said at the same time. They looked at each other. "Babe!"

Peter looked at MJ. "Do you think anyone suspected anything?" 

"No, I think you're fine," she responded. 

"So... Paris tomorrow? Go to the Eiffel Tower. Should be great." MJ nodded. "I read it was secretly built as a mind-control antenna to create an army of the insane."

Peter blinked. "Oh."

MJ looked up at him. "Which is why it's my favorite destination on the whole trip." He laughed and she did too before they both turned back to the tv. Evie rolled her eyes.

Operation Spideychelle is back on

"Three? But everyone else almost has two!" Evie stared hard at Mr. Harrington. "Well I'm sorry Evie, but we have an odd number." 

She sighed exasperatedly. "So then why can't I be in MJ and Betty's room?"

"Because these were already assigned."

Evie was doing her best not to full-on glare at her teacher. If they had been assigned before the trip, why hadn't she been told?! Evie blew her hair out of her face. "Fine." 

As Evie entered the room and saw three beds; one lay horizontal on the wall across from the door, and the other two were vertical, lining the walls on the left and right. Tami was already sitting on one bed, and a girl who must have been from Mr. Dell's class was sitting on the one opposite it. She had blue eyes and raven black hair with purple streaks in a bob cut.

Tami looked up. "Hey, Evie. This is Kaisa," she nodded towards the girl. Kaisa gave a quick and timid wave, and Evie noticed she was wearing fingerless gloves. 

Evie sat down on the bed against the wall, sinking slightly as she heard the springs creak. She sighed. "Questo sarà il momento della mia vita."
