Chapter Twelve

The drive back home was so much better than the drive to the lake house. But I am so excited to be going home. The lake was full of drama. It was like an emotional roller coaster. I mean, I had fun of course. Defiantly what Matt and I did. But the other stuff is what was crazy. I am actually happy with Matt. I have not been this happy in so long. Even though he drives me crazy. Also gets under my skin so easily, and I said I hated him. I still am happy. Do not ask me how that happened. But I guess love happened. Possibly fate happened also. If I had a chance to go to a party sooner, and we did the same thing, I would so go to my first party sooner. But maybe what is happening now, would not have happened if I had changed it. We pull into the front driveway of my house and Matt grabs my bags from the back. “That is ok. I got it.” I smiled. “Please, don’t be stupid. I got it.” Matt gestured and carried the bags up to my door. Well that was offensive. I think? I unlocked the door and my mom was sitting on the couch. As she seen me, she jumped up and hugged me. “I missed you too mom.” I laughed. “Was everything ok? Did… You know.” She said and looked up at Matt and looked back at me. “Mom it is ok. He knows.” I pointed at Matt. “And to answer your question, he did not show up.” I lied so my mother wouldn’t worry. “Are you lying to me?” She asked me. “Mom… Everything is ok. Don’t worry about it.” I kissed her cheek. She sighed. She looked at Matt and raised an eyebrow. “Who is that?” She asked. “This is my... I mean Matt…” I said. Oh my god…. I did not just say that. OLIVER! I shouted at myself. “Good save.” Ana said as she walked into the kitchen. “I am Oliver’s mother. And I take it that you are his boyfriend.” My mom shook Matt’s hand. “I am Matt… And yes ma’am I am.” He smiled at her. “Well you should stay for dinner so I can get to know you. I don’t let my son be around just anyone.” Mom pointed at Matt. “MOM!” I shouted. Matt and Ana started laughing. “Such a bone kill.” Ana laughed. “ANA!” Mom shouted at her. Liv came through the front door. “Hello hottie.” Liv smiled at Matt. “That is Oliver’s boyfriend Liv.” Ana informed her. “WHAT?!” Liv shouted and looked at the both of us. “I don’t believe this. You are straight…. And you are unpopular… And he is rich and popular.” Liv said still in shock. Ana walked up to Liv and pulled her back into the bedroom. “Please stay for dinner. Even though this family is crazy, just ignore us.” Mom said and walked into the kitchen. “I would love to stay for dinner ma’am.” Matt smiled at my mom. “Why are you saying ma’am for?” I asked Matt. “Because he is a gentlemen. Unlike someone.” Mom yelled at me. I pulled Matt into my room and shut the door. “Uh… Sorry about her… Them…” I said nervously. Matt chuckles. “It’s ok. I like your family. Way better than mine.” Matt explained. I never met his family before. I want to meet his so badly. I wonder what they are like. I don’t want to ask because what if he gets all defensive. I don’t want him to hate me because I asked about his family. I just nodded and started unpacking my bags. “You can ask what they are like if you wanted too.” Matt stated the obvious. “What are they like?” I asked sincerely. “My parents own this big investment company in Chicago. Plus they have one in New York City and Paris. They are about to open one up in Los Angeles also. I have one older sister and her name is Rachel. She is 22 and lives at home. My parents aren’t around much because they always work. They missed all my birthdays since I was twelve. So they just give me money and other things to make up for it. But to be honest, I do not care about money or anything else. I just want to be a family… Act like a family. Not just someone they pay off to feel better. So that is my family. They don’t care about their kids.” Matt informed me. I can’t believe his parents are like that. I couldn’t even imagine myself doing that to my kids. Why don’t they care? They had kids for a reason. They should be happy they have kids and be there for them. There is people out in this world that want a family. But they can’t have a family because they can’t have kids. “I’m sorry Matt… I don’t see how they can act like that.” I responded. “It’s ok. I’m used to it. People just use me for money or they just throw money at me. It doesn’t really bother me anymore.” He explained. I walked over and sat down next to him’ grabbing his hands so he could face me. “I am not the person who would use you. You should know that I don’t care about money or anything. You have nothing to worry about with me.” I said while smiling. He nodded and gave me a kiss. “That is the first person I ever dated who said that.” He frowned. “How many people have you dated?” I asked sarcastically. He started to laugh. “A few but I never loved them. I didn’t know what love was until now. It’s something that drives you insane…. You get so angry and irritated with a person who you are in love with. They get under your skin so easily. But every time you think about them, you get butterflies and feels like you stomach his upside down. That is what love feels like.” Matt explained. I started to blush. “When can I meet your family?” I asked. He froze. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked that… “You can come over tomorrow… But my sister will only be home. And maids.” Matt told me. “I would love to come over.” I smiled and went back to unpacking.

“Dinner is ready!” Mom shouted. Matt and I walked into the dining room and sat at the table. Liv and Ana sat down in front of us and Mom sat at the end of the table. “God, I am so hungry.” Ana said and reached for her fork. We started eating and Matt keeps playing footsie with me under the table. “So Matt, what does your parents do for a living?” Mom asked. Matt turned to mom and began to talk. “My parents own Sparks Investors.” He informed mom. “Really? That is a huge investment company. You must have really good parents.” Mom said. “They are not that great ma’am.” Matt chuckled. We went back to eating and I slipped my hand under the table. I put my hand on Matt’s lap and kept getting closer and closer to Matt’s package. He jerks in shock. “Is everything ok?” Mom asked. “Yeah. Everything is fine.” He slapped my hand away. “OLIVER!” Mom shouted at me. Ana, Liv and I started laughing. “Way to embarrass your boyfriend.” Liv laughed harder. Matt’s face started to turn red. We finished the rest of the dinner and Matt volunteered to help clean up. Matt and I started washing dishes and he dried. “That was embarrassing you know.” Matt said awkwardly. “I know. I was just messing with you.” I giggled. “You know I don’t like to be teased.” He informed me. “Really? What are you going to do about it?” I asked seductively. He scooted closer to me and pulled me against him. “I can show you what I would do about it.” He said and kissed me. I giggled as his lips crashed into mine. He cupped my ass in his hand and I let out a soft moan. “Whoa! No PDA when I am home!” Mom said as she walked into the house. Now that is embarrassing. “I am going to work. So I will see you tomorrow.” Mom said and gave me a kiss on the cheek. “Nice to meet you Matt.” Mom says and walked out the door. “Your mom works all night?” Matt asked and raised an eyebrow. “Yeah. She is a nurse. Sometimes she has night shifts and morning shifts. Then she is also a technician when she is not a nurse.” I informed. “So your mom has two jobs?” He asked and I nodded. We finished up the dishes and went into my room. “I have to go. It’s getting late.” Matt said. I smiled and walked over to kiss him. “Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I said and walked him out. Once we walked up to his car, he leaned me against it and began to kiss me. “The whole world can see us right now.” I mumbled through his lips. “True.” He mumbled back. He leaned up and kissed me goodbye and drove off. I walked back inside and locked the door. Matt has me feeling all crazy inside. I can’t believe I have someone like him.
