There I was again tonight

Forcing laughter, faking smiles

Same old tired lonely place

I sighed, sitting in the corner of the party hall that my brother, Lysandre, had hired. I was bored and lonely but I would rather be bored and lonely than forced to chat with some scientist I didn't know. My peace didn't last however, as I felt a hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off and turned around to see Xerosic, a man I had only heard about from my brother.

"Hello Colette. You must be the Sl- Lysandre's sister" The greasy haired, overweight man said leaning over to me. I took a step back, disgusted. "I'm Xerosic, but I bet you already knew that" he sent a wink my way as he tried to flirt with me and I put on a fake smile, internally killing my brother for hiring such a sick, and probably drunk, man.

"Nice to meet you" I lied, not even daring to shake his hand.

"What? Not even a kiss on the cheek, you're going to be seeing a lot of me in the future so you better warm up to me soon baby" He told me and I paled, walking away instantly before I could be sick. I could see my brother's flame red hair so I wandered over, ignoring the whistles I got from various men. When I got closer I could hear his forced laugh and see as he turned away from some male scientist, grabbing his arm I pulled him away into a doorway.

"Look Lysandre. I know you're obsessed with your 'perfect world' but for Arceus' sake stop hiring creeps" I hissed, glaring upwards at my very tall brother.

"I'm sorry Colette" Lysandre told me not sounding very apologetic, his eyes on some girl the whole time.

"I'll be at my apartment, I'll see you tomorrow" I replied icily, glaring at him as I huffed and stormed back into the party, grabbing my coat.

Walls of insincerity,

Shifting eyes and vacancy

Vanished when I saw your face

I rolled my eyes when I saw Lysandre dancing with the girl he was staring at throughout our insincere convocation. As I walked to the door, I could feel everyone's eyes shift to look at me, probably thinking how immature I was being. I was so focused on getting away I didn't look where I was going meaning I crashed right into the most handsome man I had ever seen. I gasped and wobbled backwards, expecting to hit the floor with a thud and earn a nasty bruise on my back but instead I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me.

"Are you alright Madame?" He asked me, concern flooded his features. I could tell he was a native Kalosian, unlike some of the scientists, which comforted me. He didn't dress like them either so I didn't mind being in his arms.

"Oui, merci. I wasn't watching where I was going, desole" I apologised to the tall man in a lab coat.

"Don't apologise chere" He smiles, the pet name not bothering me as it usually did, I had a feeling he didn't mean it in a cruel way. Carefully placing me on a chair and as he checked me over, I could tell he was a doctor of some sort.

"It's Colette, by the way. And thank you" I said admiring the way his hair fell over his right eye a bit.

"No problem, I'm Augustine Sycamore. Pleasure to meet such a belle femme and even better to know you're not hurt" Augustine told me.

I was frozen, he call me beautiful. Nobody had ever called me that before, a blush coated my cheeks as I stood up and looked into his warm grey eyes. All I can say is:

"It was enchanting to meet you Augustine" I stuttered and he laughed looking at me curiously.

Your eyes whispered, "Have we met?"

He dropped the gaze as soon as I noticed it, leading me back into the party. I wasn't going to tell him that I actually wanted to leave, seeing as he had just arrived. I turned back to the coat stand and placed my jacket back on the hook it was previously on and when I was done I turned to find that my saviour had disappeared.

I looked around frantically, I only stayed here because he led me back in, otherwise I'd have been long gone. I glanced around, sighing in relief that his figure was only across the floor.

Across the room your silhouette

Starts to make its way to me

"C'mon ange, I lost you there for a second" Augustine held my hand and pulled me back to where he was standing; great more people I didn't know.

The playful conversation starts

"I might have to put a Poke Radar on you if you keep vanishing like that ma belle" He joked. I sent a half-hearted glare his way and he chuckled.

Counter all your quick remarks

"Never mind a Poke Radar, I'll have to get my Ralts to use trace on you!" I teased and he laughed once again.

Like passing notes in secrecy

I was sure my brother wouldn't approve of who I was staying with all night so every time he looked to find me I turned away from Augustine and started to chat with a different person, thankful Lysandre didn't turn around to check that much. I whispered to Augustine to explain why I was doing this and for some reason he laughed and shook his head, not telling me why.

All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go

I could tell Augustine didn't really like parties either so we left not long after he arrived. When we got outside into the chilly Kalosian air, Augustine called a taxi to take him home.

"Can I pay for you to get home, ma chere?" He asked when the car pulled up at the venue.

"Non, my apartment is only a short walk away, I'll be fine" I told him, giving him a nod.

"Bien, but take this and put it on. Stay safe Colette, I'll see you soon" He shrugged of his lab coat and passed it to me, and with that the cab door closed and the car sped off into the dark night.

I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home

I strolled home, thinking about the night, blushing every time I thought about Augustine and how I immediately took to him which was very rare for me. I smiled as I saw my apartment building and let myself inside, making my way to my room. The building was in one of the nicer parts of town which meant it wasn't the cheapest, I didn't mind that however as I was friends with the landlord, or rather landlady, and could afford a nicer residence as I owned one of the most expensive boutique stores in Kalos' shopping district.

I changed from my dress into a pair of lounge shorts and a t shirt I had been sent from my best friend Wallace in Hoenn and lay down on my bed trying to sleep, but to no avail.

The lingering question kept me up

2 AM, who do you love?

The thoughts of Augustine kept me from sleeping, it was stupid and could almost laugh at myself. I knew almost nothing about him, hell all I knew was his name, that he could afford a cab ride, he knew my brother, was some kind of scientist and was really handsome. I hoped that I hadn't gotten too excited, fell for a taken man and had broken my own heart; for all I knew he called every girl he met belle and chere. No, he called me 'beautiful' and 'darling', surely that meant something?

I wonder 'til I'm wide awake

And now I'm pacing back and forth

Wishing you were at my door

I'd open up and you would say,

"Hey, It was enchanting to meet you, All I know is I was enchanted to meet you."

I shook my head, I was dreaming about children's fairy tales, I had to stop before I did something to upset myself. He would never knock at my door, he didn't even know where I lived! I turned to my side and shut my eyes, vanishing any thoughts of the charming scientist for thoughts of my day at work. But that was it wasn't it, I didn't know what the next day could hold and when I would meet the enchanting man again...
