♡ 7 : bisexuality (probably) ♡

*tw: mentions of school shooting*

Bisexual.

It was a label that fit much better than heterosexual, though for some reason it still didn't sit right, but Roman figured it was just because he was used to referring to himself as straight.

There was no doubt now that he liked men.

But he still liked women, obviously.

"I'm bisexual," Roman said.

Logan's mouth slowly formed into a smile. "Good." He kissed him in an empty hallway during their lunch break. The kids were close by.

Roman's tongue was in Logan's mouth when Holly said, "Hey, Roman, someone is here for y- Okay! Well, very sorry!"

"Oh, sorry!" They both apologized to their director and followed her, turning the corner.

Abigail.

Logan suddenly had a migraine but he had to set a good example for the kids so he smiled at her and sucked it up.

Meanwhile, Roman asked her quietly, "When you kissed me, does that mean we're together? Because we broke up officially..."

"We were always together, just with a short break," Abigail said, "right?"

"Right! Of course! I knew, I was just making sure... Ha."

Holly confronted Abigail. "Why are you here anyway?"

"I'm advertising an acting curriculum for the fall, but I'll say what I have to say and leave soon," Abigail answered.

Holly nodded and got everyone's attention.

"Hi! I'm Abigail Decker, but you can call me Abi. You might know me as Logan's sister or Roman's girlfriend, or you might not know me at all! But hopefully we'll be able to meet at a fall acting curriculum where we play acting games and write our own devised pieces to present in the winter."

There were a couple murmurs from the teens that Logan could hear well and clear.

"Roman likes girls?"

"I always thought he was dating Logan."

"Yeah, Logan's way hotter than her."

Logan smirked to himself. If only those teenagers knew.

Suddenly a much younger student yelled, "She's too boring to be Roman's girlfriend! I thought Roman was in love with Logan!"

Roman and Logan had to pretend to be confused but they met eyes, both eating it up.

"I agree. She is boring," Logan said.

"Hey, manners! Be polite to the one speaking," one of the other counselors scolded, but grinned in Logan's direction. He was there at the dinner.

Abigail cussed to herself.

Everyone in the room seemed to ship Roman with Logan much more than they did with his girlfriend, including Logan himself.

~~~
After the day, they were in Roman's car again.
"She thought we were still together this whole time. So I cheated on her with two different guys?"
"No, you didn't cheat. It wasn't fair. You two broke up, I think she's just messing with you."
"Okay... I don't think I want to be in a relationship right now. I just want to keep doing what we're doing," he admitted, blushing.
"You should break up with her then," Logan advised bluntly. "What's the point in dating someone you don't like?"
Roman whipped out his phone and called Abigail nervously. "Hey... So it's nothing against you at all, but I don't really want to be in a relationship right now, and I'm moving to New York in August anyway. Hope you get it. Yeah. Yep. And we're good, right? Okay! Cool. See you."
"She was calm? That's sort of unexpected from her."
"I think so," Roman said.
When they got to Roman's house, they made out in his living room with no real intention of it going any further than that for the day.
They broke away after hearing Mr. Walsh clear his throat loudly.
"You have a boyfriend?" he asked.
"Actually-"
Roman cut Logan off instantly. "Yeah! He's my boyfriend. I'm bisexual now."
Logan turned red but stayed silent and played along.
Mr. Walsh grinned and hugged his son. "That's great!"
Logan felt the tiniest twinge of jealousy. He wasn't sure if his parents had hugged him since elementary school. Even before they found out he was gay, their family just wasn't really that type.
When their short conversation was over, Logan whispered, "I thought-"
"I know. It's just weird to tell someone who raised you, 'Haha, no, I'm just casually sexually intimate with this guy but we're not dating.' It's too much to get into."
"I'm sure any functioning adult could understand that."
"I dunno. Just kinda weird to say to your parents, though," Roman laughed.
~~~

The next few weeks were close to pure bliss. No day was perfect, as too much had happened in their last two high school years to get over, but the summer going into their new lives was big.

All the counselors sat together on the stage while the kids settled in for their weekly talent show which happened each Friday.

At one point, one of the younger teen boys, probably 14 or 15, went up on stage to sing but was interrupted by a loud sound that sent Roman into a panic attack in an instant.

A gun shot.

Roman's heart dropped into his stomach as screams sounded from the house with the rest of the kids.

Remus' eyes flashed before him and it was as if he'd been shot in the leg again. He put his arms over his head and shut his eyes tight, beginning to tremble violently. All the voices coming from around him were fuzzy in his ears.

And he was being helped off stage into the bathroom by Logan.

"It was just a prank by one of the preteen boys. He played it from the sound booth. It's okay," Logan told him and wet a paper towel with cold water to press against his face and neck to soothe him. "Nobody is hurt. You're not hurt. That was a shitty prank and Holly is out there yelling at him. You're safe here, alright? I will always be here if you get hurt. I'm trained in first aid and it's not much but I'm not going to let anything like that happen to you again."

Still crying, Roman kissed Logan and thanked him over and over and over again.

Logan pulled Roman's sweater off of him. "I'll hold onto it for you. Just take some time to cool off. You're burning up."

Roman did as Logan told him to, and ended up breathing at a normal rate in less than ten minutes. "Do you want to take it?" Roman asked shyly after some moments of silence.

"Your sweater?"

"Yeah."

"Would you like me to take it? I mean, it's your sweater."

Roman scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Yes... I'd like you to take it."

Logan looked down at the red sweater and smiled, slightly flustered. "Okay. I'll take it. But tell me if you want it back." He put it on over his head.

"You look adorable," Roman said.

"Oh, shut the fuck up, Roman," Logan chuckled, staring at the floor as to not show Roman how hard he was blushing. "Do you want to go back now? I want to lecture everyone."

"You're hot when you're mad. Let's go back."

On their way back to the theater, Roman asked, "And can you tell them about what happened at school? Why I freaked out so bad?"

"Are you sure? I don't want you to get more upset."

"N-No, I can take it. It's okay. I love dramatic tellings of violence. Some people wouldn't be able to take it, but it's different for everyone. I was only upset then because it felt like I was in the memory again."

"Then I will," Logan said. Before they got to enter, he turned to Roman and stopped him. "Do you think- I mean- Do you- Would- No, never mind."

"What's up?"

"It's not important. I might ask you later. Let's just go back."

When Logan spoke to Holly about giving everyone a lecture and telling them about his experience, she had a few counselors rally the younger kids into a dance studio to continue their training, leaving only the older preteens and teenagers.

Logan grabbed a microphone from the sound booth and sat all the way downstage. "Was that scary?"

There were nods across the room.

"Roman and I wanted to tell you all a story about what happened at our school's senior prom," Logan said into the microphone. He looked at Roman for approval one last time, which he was given. "I didn't go to prom. I stayed home, but Roman went and was crowned prom king. Everything seemed to be going to plan before there were gunshots and everyone was evacuating the school, all while Roman wasn't helped out by anyone when he was shot in the leg because everyone was too panicked. He could barely move and was extremely close to the shooter but there was an exit and a hallway leading to the band room where he hid and then broke out of through the window."

A few younger teenagers gasped.

"Since I was at home, which is close to our school, i shortly found out about the situation when I heard screaming outside and let everyone in. Then I got a text from Roman telling me to pick him up, so I drove over to the school and found him. I was afraid that he would soon die from the excessive blood loss, and I began to bandage him and take care of him when I carried him into my home. He was unconscious but I checked to make sure I could still hear his heartbeat until the ambulance arrived."

Roman nodded towards Logan to continue.

"Okay... Several students were brutally injured during the shooting, and three died. Roman had to go to the hospital to get the bullet removed and had trouble moving. Even after he recovered, I wasn't able to see him for over a month because he was in therapy. One of the most insane parts about this was that the shooter was Roman's twin brother who targeted Roman first. His brother is in jail now, of course.

"So, what I'm getting at is that I enjoy dark humor, but what Vic pulled today is not at all funny and we will be calling your parents." He looked right at the boy who snuck into the booth. "Do not be insensitive. Real shootings happen and they ruin lives. It is not a light subject and is one of America's greatest flaws. This kind of behavior is not to be tolerated and trauma doesn't simply vanish in a couple months. Roman had to leave the room because he felt like he was in the same kind of danger; reliving it. Now, excuse my language, but don't be fucking stupid. Okay?"

He took a deep breath and stopped talking, finished with his lecture. Everyone clapped and whooped except for Vic and his friends, who were just embarrassed.

"Questions?" Logan asked. He called on a girl with her blonde hair in a high ponytail. "Vivi?"

She put her hand down. "So, you're a hero?"

"What?"

"Like, you gave everyone a safe place to stay and then risked your own life to pick up Roman even though his brother could have been close by, and then saved him from bleeding out when nobody else could save him?"

Logan was too perplexed to answer, but Roman took the mic out of his hand and sat next to him, saying, "Yes! Logan's a hero. My hero. Any other questions? Yes! Hannah?"

Logan leaned against Roman a little, cracking a grin.

Hannah asked, "Sorry for being off topic, but Logan, are you wearing Roman's sweater?"

Logan's throat dried up and all he could make out was, "Uhh..."

"He is," Roman answered for him.

Everyone awed at the two high school graduates.

"Alright! Now that our talk is over, unless there are any more questions which you can ask me or Roman privately, please head to your next class. Green group, follow me to room 315," Logan said.

Hero.

He thought about the heroes in films and books. They were often body builders who raged at anything and had hair so shiny and teeth so white they could blind a man. And they were always heterosexual.

"Logan's a hero. My hero."

He was definitely getting used to wearing Roman's sweater.
