John B and Adeline heard a bang on the wall not realizing it was JJ.

"DCS, I know you're in there" JJ said. As John B and Adeline looked out the window JJ jumped scaring them.

"Whoa" John B said. "Gotcha slick" JJ said. "Geez JJ" Adeline said.

"You both should have seen your face" JJ said laughing. "I will kill you" Adeline told JJ. "No, you won't Ads" JJ said.

"I'm just saying I don't understand why you don't at least try with Kiara; she clearly likes you she's like oh John B" JJ said. "Is that what she does" John B asked.

"She's sketching about you diving then she kissed you, bro" JJ said.

"She kissed me on the cheek it's not like we were making out or something" John B said.

"Low hanging fruit bro don't pretend you don't notice I see it in your eyes you're like I kinda like that and you start blushing" JJ said.

"I blush" John B asked. "Yeah" JJ said. "You do" Adeline said. "Really" John B said. "Yeah" JJ said. "Why would we say you blush if you didn't" Adeline asked.

"Good point Adi" John B said to her. "Hey, don't" John B said when JJ took the compass. "I was just looking at it" JJ told him.

"I gotta admit your father's compass in Scooter's boat that's freaky" JJ said. "Yeah, and that's why we're going to talk to Ms. Lana figure this whole thing out" John B said.

"And I'm sure she would just love to talk to us it's not like her husband just drowned or anything" JJ said.

"He's right you know this is not going to end well" Adeline said. Once they finally arrived at Lana's they got out of the car once John B parked heading to the house.

"Know what this house looks like" John B asked. "Whoever lives here smokes too much weed" JJ said and they heard smashing.

"That doesn't sound good" Adeline said. "Maybe we should come back it's a little too soon" JJ said. "No, no, shut up, shut up JJ" John B told JJ.

"Are you serious there could be murderers in that house" Adeline said to John B as they heard the voices inside the house.

"Shut up come on" John B said. "Why do I even bother you never listen regardless" Adeline said.

"Come on" John B said as he hid on the side of the house with JJ and Adeline. "Shut up" John B told JJ once they ducked down stopping him from saying anything.

"Still think we should stay" JJ asked. "The compass wasn't in the boat where is it Lana" the man inside asked Lana angrily.

"I don't know" Lana said. Paint then started to fall onto their heads. "Is that paint" JJ asked.

"Yes, it's paint" John B told him. "Let's get out of here man inside told his partner. "We should just go he's got smuggler" JJ said seeing John B moving.

"Shut up" John B said. "If I die out here, I will come back and kill you" Adeline told John as she and JJ followed John B.

"Smuggler written all over him" JJ told John B. They quickly hid when they saw the two men come out with JJ holding onto Adeline. "Shh it's okay, it's okay" JJ said to Adeline comforting her.

Once the two guys were gone JJ, Adeline, and John B went inside the house. "Ms. Lana" John B said looking for her.

"Ms. Lana" John B and saw her. John B went to her and bent down to her level. "Hey, are you okay" John B asked. "It's okay" John B said.

"Dude she's tweaking" JJ told John B. "Do you need a doctor" John B asked her. "Maybe we should call the sheriff's department" Adeline said.

"No, no, no, no cops please" Lana said. "Mm that's not good come on dude let's just go" JJ told John B. "You shouldn't be here" Lana said crying.

"That's enough for me come on" JJ said leading Adeline going to leave when John B stopped him.

"Wait, wait" John B told JJ. "What do you know about these guys" John B asked Lana. "They were looking for something" Lana said crying.

"Does it have anything to do with this" John B asked pulling out the compass and shown Lana.

"Do you know anything about this" John B asked. "This is my father's and Scooter had it" John B said. "Why" John B asked.

"Scooter didn't have it okay don't tell anyone that you have it" Lana said. "Come on" JJ said to John B. "We should go" Adeline said. "Why" John B asked Lana.

"They can't know you have that you've gotta get out of here" Lana said. "What do you know about the compass" John B asked.

"John B stop we have to go" Adeline said. "Go get out" Lana said. "We gotta let's go" JJ told John B and they left.

"And then we were right outside like this" JJ said demonstrating. "And all we hear is just bam, bam, bam" JJ said demonstrating bangs on a wall that they heard earlier.

"Knocking paint off the wall G from the inside alright and I'm just looking at him like wait first off look at this" JJ said messing with his hair as paint fell out.

"Look at it" JJ said. "That's dandruff disgusting" Kie said. "Okay thank you" Pope said.

"Look at all of that alright that's paint" JJ said once he stopped messing with his hair.

"At that point I was just like I'm waiting for death" JJ said. "Oh, okay so you saw the guys shot at us right" Pope asked.

"Yeah" JJ said. "Did you get a good description of them what did they look like" Pope asked. "Yeah anything, anything that's helpful" Kie said.

"Anything we can bring to a like police report maybe" Pope said. "Yeah" Koe said. "Burly" JJ said. "I was too focused on trying not to be murdered right there" Adeline said.

"Burly" Pope said. "Yeah, you know like" JJ said when Kie interrupted. "That's not very helpful" Kie said.

"Okay well no like the type of guy at my dad's garage I mean you guys know he made cargo hides for drug smugglers" JJ said. "Yes, we do know that" Adeline said.

"I can tell you with full confidence these boys these killers" JJ said before taking a whiff of his vape and blowing out smoke.

"They're square groupers" JJ said. "They're square groupers like narco square grouper like Pablo Escobar square grouper" Pope asked.

"Yeah man" JJ said. "You guys not everything is a kingpin movie" Kie said. "Okay so what does this square grouper look like specifically" Pope asked. "You weren't there, bro" JJ told Pope.

"Apparently you don't know what to look for" Pope told JJ.

"Dude I wasn't taking little mental Polaroids the entire time man I was under duress okay" JJ said.

"Maybe we should chill out a little" Adeline said. "But I can tell you, I can tell you by the way that Ms. Lana was screaming that these guys are serious, serious hombres man it's a heavy vibe right now okay" JJ said as Adeline saw John B looking at the compass.

"I'm not liking this very much" JJ said. "Okay why would they want the compass" Kir asked.

"That's what I like to know it's not new" Adeline said. "You couldn't pawn it off for five bucks if you wanted to" Pope said.

"No offense John B, Adi I know it's in your family" Pope said. "The office" John B said making Adeline look at him. "What" Pope said.

"My dad, my dad's office" John B said to Kie, JJ, and Pope. "What about dad's office" Adeline asked.

"He always kept the office locked because he was worried about his competitors stealing his Royal Merchant research, I mean we used to laugh at him all the time like he was actually gonna find it but now that he's gone Adi and I just kinda just left it as he kept it" John B said going to the office door with Kie, JJ, Pope, and Adeline.

"Yeah, for when he gets back" Kie said. "Yeah" John B said and unlocked the office.

Once the door opened, they all went inside. "I've slept over here like 600 times, and I've never seen this door opened" Pope said.

"Here look" John B said taking the board off the wall putting it on the table. "This is the original owner right here" John B said. "Robert Q Routledge 1880 to 1920" Adeline said.

"There's the lucky compass right there" Kie said pointing to it.

"Actually, um he was shot after he bought it then the compass was shipped back to Henry" John B said and they all heard the rooster crowing.

"Henry was killed in a crop-dusting accident when he had the compass after he died the compass was given to Stephan, Stephan had the compass with him when he died in Vietnam" John B said.

"Let me guess he died in action right" JJ said. "Sort of" Adeline said. "Actually, he was killed by a banana truck in country" John B told JJ.

"Anyways after that Stephen passed the compass down to him" John B said pointing to the picture.

"Our dad" Adeline said. "Hm sounds like there's a reoccurring theme here" JJ said. "Yeah um you have a death compass" Pope said.

"No, I do not have a death" John B said when Pipe interrupted. "You have a death compass" Pope said. "Get rid of it it's cursed and made its way back to you" JJ said.

"Look my dad used to talk about this compartment in here soldiers used to hide secret notes" John B said opening the compass and dumping it out.

"What's that" Kie asked seeing a word in the compass causing Adeline and John B to look.

"That wasn't there before" John B said. "That's dad's handwriting" Adeline said. "How can you know that" Pope asked.

"Because he does these weird R's, with the, see it" John B said motioning to it. "Can I see it" JJ asked.

"Red, Rout" JJ said trying to read the word. "No, I think that's an A" JJ said. "It says Redfield" Kie said. "Right" JJ said. "Okay well what's Redfield" Kie asked.

"Besides the most common name in the county" Pope said. "Okay maybe it's a clue maybe it's a clue to where he's hiding" John B said.

"I could call a friend of mine he's obsessed with treasure hunts real or fake" Adeline said. "A clue come on that's" Pope said when Kie and Adeline gave him a look and the rooster crocked.

"But if it is a clue maybe it's an anagram" Pope said. "Yes, perfect anagram" John B said. "You need paper" John B asked. "Okay" Kie said.

"Here you go" John B said setting the paper in the table and the rooster crowed. "How can you concentrate with that thing constantly crowing at you" Pope asked.

"JJ loves the rooster" John B said. "I love the rooster" Kie said. "Okay let me think um" Pope said as John B went to the window and wrote stuff down. "Seriously think" Kie told Pope.

"Dedfiel, colors that's stupid" Pope said. "What about Ritalin" JJ asked. "Dreidel" Adeline asked.

"Fiddler" Kie asked. John B looked out the window and a saw a car. "Guys" John B said and turned to face them.

"Guys somebody's here" John B said and Kie, JJ, John B, and Pope looked out the window.

"Guys, guys, is that them" Kie asked. "Is that them" Kie asked again as it was the same guys, Adeline, JJ, and John B saw. "This is suboptimal" Pope said.

"John B I told you man" JJ said walking away from the window.

"Why does it always" JJ asked before John B went to him and Adeline, Kie, and Pooe faced them.

"JJ hey look at me where's the gun" John B asked. "Gun I uh I can't" JJ said. "Now you don't have the gun" Adeline asked. "The one time we need the gun" Kie said.

"It was in my backpack and then I" JJ said when John B interrupted. "On the porch it's on the porch go, go" John B said and JJ left the room.

"John Routledge" the man yelled. "Guys" Kie said. John B saw Adeline about to have an anxiety attack and went to her holding her hand.

"It's okay it's okay I got you I'm not going to let them hurt you" John B told Adeline. "Come on out now" the man yelled again. "Where's the compass" he asked, and JJ walked back in.

"Where the gun" Adeline asked JJ. "They're on the front porch guys" JJ whispered. "Get out here" the man said. "Routledge" he yelled.

"Where you at boy" he asked. "We gotta leave" Kie said. "The window" Adeline said going to it with JJ, John B, and Pope.

"Hurry" Kie said as John B, JJ, and Adeline tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge.

"What's happening why is it taking so long" Kie asked. "It's painted shut okay" JJ told Kie.

"Routledge" the man yelled and Kie found a case knife. "Okay, guys, guys, guys here I got it" Kie said as they moved out of the way. Kie started scraping the paint off as fast as she could.

"Come on" JJ said. "She's moving as fast as she can give her a second" Adeline said. "Shh" John B said.

"You better not be in there" the man said as he tried to open the door.

They eventually got the window open and Kie, John B, and Pope went out the window and went inside the chicken coop sitting in a circle.

JJ went out the window with Adeline going after him as JJ helped her and they rushed to the chicken coop and went inside sitting down beside each other. JJ saw Adeline was shaking and held her hand.
