Grief and loss

Adeline, JJ, Kiara, and Pope were surround at the tree that they engraved for John B. Once Pope was done chopping JJ wrote the initials along with the year on the tree.

Adeline read the tree as she was fighting back tears not wanting to accept the fact her brother was gone.

2003 - 2020 John B Rutledge P4L" it said as Adeline looked down for a split second.

"To John B" JJ said. "And to Sarah" Kir does and they all took a drink. "Give me that" Adeline told JJ but didn't give him a chance to respond as she took the item, he had to engrave John B's name.

Adeline walked up to the tree and wrote down both Sarah and Bradley's names.

Adeline looked at it once more before dropping the item and heading to the house. "How is she" Kie asked JJ.

"She's a wreck and honestly i don't know if she'll ever be the same again, I mean yeah she lost Alex and Sarah but she lost John B and I know we did too but that's her brother, her brother it's different you all know that it's like a part of her died when she lost John B and it's scaring me" JJ said.

"I can go talk to her" Kle offered. "No, it's okay I made a promise to John B and I'm going to stick by it" JJ said. "I know but it's okay to have help she's our best friend too" Kie said.

"JJ let us help" Pope said. "Okay" JJ said nodding and Kie went in the house.

"Adi, Adi" Kir said looking around for her. "Where is she" Kie asked not seeing her.

She checked the bathroom not seeing her as the door was wide open. She checked Adeline's room again not seeing her. And she wasn't in the kitchen or on the porch.

After checking everywhere knowing there was only one room left.

Kie took a breath and opened John B's door and walked in seeing Adeline throwing things breaking things.

"Adi, Adi" Kie said and went to her stopping her from breaking everything pulling her down to her knees not daring to let go of Adeline.

Adeline cried as Kie held her and Kie laid her head on Adeline's shoulder. "It's okay I'm right here Adi I'm right here" Kie said.

"Okay I'm not sure but I think they definitely can see us from up there" Pope said as Kie and Adeline spray painted murderers on the Cameron fence.

"Should be glad Adi and I are not setting the house on fire" Kie said.

"Okay well just can you hurry up" Pope asked and looked at Adeline worried as she didn't speak up along with seeing her tear-stained face.

"Look doesn't it piss you off even a little" Kie asked Pope. "Of course, it pisses me off I'm just" Pope said and took a breath.

"I'm just trying to channel my rage into different vectors right now okay" Pope said. "Oh okay" Kie said as she and Adeline finished the spray paint and stood up.

"Not bad" Kie said. "Hey, I think somebody's up there" Pope asked and looked causing Kie and Adeline to look.

"Crap it's Rafe" Pope said. "We know what you did" Kie yelled.

"Hey no" Pope said pulling Kie back. "Murderers" Kie yelled.

"No now is not the time are you serious" Pope said. He saw Adeline about to go after Rafe and quickly picked her up carrying her as he left with Kie.

"Let me go, let me go" Adeline said yelling the whole time as he carried her.

"Rafe is a psychopath he could come after us" Pope said. "Let him try" Kie said.

"Look I wanna pin Rafe as much as you do but" Pope said and Kie interrupted. "Really cause, you could have fooled me are you even a pogue" Kie asked.

"I can't go around doing stupid things like this we have school tomorrow we should be focused on laying low" Pope said.

"Whatever you say boss" Adeline said looking at the ocean. "Do you wanna hook up" Kie asked Pope. "What" Pope said as she caught him in surprise. "It's not like we haven't kissed" Kie said.

"Kiara you're pretty high right now and I honestly don't think you would want to" Pope soad and Kie kissed him.

But Pope pulled away from her. "Kiara" he said. "Cool so that's your plan huh you're just gonna crawl onto your books cram it down like nothing happened" Kie said.

"I went off the rails and I lost my scholarship, and my best friend is dead, getting high and overcompensating is not gonna help" Pope said.

"Helps me" Kie said and offered a joint to Adeline which she took.

Pope watched Adeline knowing ever since John B died, she hadn't spoken much, and she was slowly fading away which was scaring Kie, Pope, and JJ knowing John B wouldn't want that.

"You're forgetting something I'm still Rafe's sister and Sarah's so chances of Ward and Rafe coming after me are very low" Adeline said.

JJ pulled up to the Routledge house seeing Kie outside as he walked up to her after parking his motorcycle. "You didn't leave" JJ asked.

"I didn't want to leave her alone I was waiting for you to get here" Kie said, and JJ nodded.

"Where's Ads" JJ asked. "She was in the shower, but it's been a while, and I was about to go check on her" Kie said. "It's okay I got it go" JJ said and Koe nodded and left.

JJ then made his way inside and knocked on the bathroom door. "Ads, Ads" JJ said but got no answer.

Sighing as he opened the door and walked in. He stopped once he saw Adeline just sitting in the bathtub as water sprayed down on her from the shower head.

Seeing the tears in her eyes as he looked at her sadly.

JJ turned off the shower and grabbed a towel helping her out of the bathtub as she let him.

JJ wrapped the towel around her before picking her up not caring if he got wet from the water. He then went to Adeline's room as he helped her dry off before helping her get dressed.

"Stop it's not your job to take care of me" Adeline said. "Yes, it is" JJ said before getting changed himself laying on the bed.

"My brother is dead he's dead I'm never gonna see John B again and I don't know how to get past it" Adeline suddenly said as JJ looked at her.

"I know but I promise you I'm going to be with you every day okay I'm not leaving you I'll help you if you let me okay" JJ said. "But you lost him too" Adeline said.

"Yes, but he was your brother now come here" JJ said. Adeline then crawled up to JJ and laid on his chest.

JJ kissed her on the forehead before putting his arm around her as the two soon fell asleep.
