Chapter Eighteen
The next morning was the worst that she had ever had. For one thing her head felt like it was splitting in half. Pounding against her eyes and ears, her mouth felt dry and chalky. Her stomach kept rolling with nausea, when she looked herself in the mirror she looked horrible, and she couldn't seem to remember a damn thing that happened last night. No matter how much she tried too.
She saw the necklace on her and tried to figure out where it had come from. What happened, why did she wake up only in her underwear? Why couldn't she remember anything past a certain point during the party and why was her head pounding like crazy?
After taking a shower and getting dressed she goes downstairs only to feel panic rising in her at the state of her house. It was completely destroyed. Streamers were flown everywhere, food was scattered on the floor, tables, furniture as if someone had started some kind of food fight in here. Cups and plates were thrown everywhere as well. Some of the furniture was even moved and misplaced.
But what made everything even worse was the random people that were still here and completely passed out on floors, couches and even her kitchen table. She didn't even want to know the state of her backyard and pool. As she slowly walked through dread seeped into her with each passing second as it just seemed to get worse and worse. There were beer cans and empty liquor bottles that she had no idea where they even came from. And she knew her parents were going to kill her and ground her for the rest of her life.
Going into the kitchen she nearly groaned out loud to see someone had ordered pizza and ransacked her fridge. It was in even worse condition then the other rooms were. There was a spilled mess on the counter that was dripping to the floor, and it seemed someone had tried to clean it up but decided to give up and left the towel sitting there soaking wet. There were half eaten pizza slices and for some reason popcorn was all over the place. When did she have popcorn at the party?
Putting on a pot of coffee she wanted to cry. Seeing the aftermath of her party she was overwhelmed and slightly having an anxiety attack at the prospect of her parents walking through that door right now just to see the state of their house. She wasn't sure if she was able to clean all this up by the time they get home later.
After setting the coffee she goes in search of anyone she knew that was still here. Coming to the first person that was lying face forward on her living room floor she pushes him over and frowns when she didn't recognize him at all. Who the hell was this guy? Going to the next person again she didn't recognize them. In fact, she didn't recognize any of them at all. And some even looked older for them to be high school students.
Panic severely started to overcome her that she quickly runs back up the stairs and grabs her phone. Immediately she calls Selena.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Her best friend's voice sounded sweet to her ears.
Trying her hardest to hold back the tears she asks, "I'm not sure, did I get drunk last night or something?"
"Yeah, you did. But you sound a little weird. Is everything okay?" The worry in her tone made Mila even more overwhelmed.
"No. There's a bunch of strangers passed out in my house, and everything is destroyed. Why would I drink for? I didn't allow alcohol Sel. What happened?"
"You don't remember?"
"The last thing I remember was playing seven minutes in heaven."
"Okay, I'm on my way. Don't freak out, everything is going to be fine. We're going to fix it alright." She hangs up before Mila could ask any more questions.
A half hour later after drinking some coffee to help her pounding head and compose herself she was able to get half of the people up and out of her house when Selena, Ian and Jared showed up. The door was left wide open, and they walked right in looking at the disarray of the place.
"Mila?!" Selena calls out.
"Wow." Jared mumbles feeling both angered that Mila had been taken advantage of and upset at himself that he allowed his temper to get the best of him and didn't make sure this party was good and done before leaving last night.
"I knew we should have called the police when those other people showed up." Selena stated angrily.
"And I told you that if you did we would be in serious trouble." Ian put in quickly.
Jared turns his head over to her with a scowl. "You left her house with all these strangers here? Why didn't you call me?" He snaps.
She huffs while placing her hands on her hips giving him the stink eye. "Um geez I don't know maybe because you were being a dick to her last night. Besides, Evan told us he was going to take care of everything and that he will handle it."
"And look where that got her." He snapped a second time looking back at the mess before them.
He walks past them and kicks the nearest guy that was snoring away in the hallway. He looked to be in his late twenties if that. When he didn't get a response he kicked him again, much harder this time and the guy grunted.
"Get up." Jared's tone was hard and filled with anger.
"Who the hell are you?" The guy asks groggily wiping his eyes trying to get them to focus.
"Someone who's about to kick your ass if you don't move the fuck along."
"Oh yeah, is that so?" The guy slowly stands up looking like shit. Wearing tight jeans with cowboy boots and a leather biker jacket, hair hanging to his shoulders that could use a good wash. He looked like the wrong kind of sort to say the least. "Is that a threat?"
"No, it's a warning." His tone was serious.
"You're a bit young to be acting all tough."
"And you're a bit old to be going to a birthday party full of minors." He shoots back.
"Birthday party? Don't know nothing about that. Just came here looking for a good time, got invited."
"Invited by who?" Selena was irritated that the older guy smelled like rotten eggs and looked like he swam in his own vomit.
He just shrugged his shoulders and walked out of the house.
"You guys are here!" Mila calls out relieved at seeing them. She looked fresh, clean and very anxious.
"Mila, are you okay? Your house..." Selena asked hugging her friend.
"I'm fine. I just don't understand what happened last night. I can't remember a thing." She looked around the house. "My parents are going to kill me."
"What's the last thing you remember?" Jared asked holding his breath wondering if she would remember coming to his room and kissing him? Does she remember anything about what they said to each other?
"The last thing I remember was..." She swiftly looked at him and rushed on. "Evan handing me a cup of punch while playing seven minutes in heaven with a group of people."
Rubbing her face she takes a deep calming breath as her eyes showed her panic. "They come back at two today. How am I going to clean all this up in time? It's already ten in the morning."
"I'll help you." Selena quickly tells her as she takes the trash bag from her hand.
"We'll all help." Ian states as he goes to start grabbing empty cups off the floor.
"Thanks you guys." She looked relieved until she grimaced.
"What's wrong?" Jared knew he wasn't going to like what she was going to say next, judging by her reaction.
"There's two people passed out in the upstairs bathroom. I've tried to wake them up but couldn't budge them."
"Don't worry. Me and Jared will get those still around to move along. Leave the people to us." Ian deposits the trash in the bag that Selena was holding and together the guys went upstairs to do just that.
With everyone working together, a few threats here and there, they managed to get the whole place in order and cleaned up. Just when they were nearly completely done on the last room, which was the living room, Evan finally shows up.
