FEBRUARY 10th, 2006
(in labour)
17: 37 (5:37pm)
Heavy snow cascades the evening glow, but that doesn't change the mood the Deputy Director of SHIELD and one of the best agents there is are feeling. Well, there's a lot of emotions going on at the moment...
Natasha's hand is breaking, at least it feels that way. She's going to have to wear a new promise ring she realizes. But whatever, her baby girl is being born at this moment in time. Even though she knows that Maria wants to share custody over this child, to both be the mom's, Natasha has to remind herself daily that Maria's not lying.
Speaking of, Maria's wails and cries are heard without fault, the pain almost being unbearable. But the excitement- the excitement was something else entirely. Even though these excruciating contractions are 'killing' her, she wouldn't change a thing as she pushes her daughter out.
Sometime through the process, before the pushing started, her water broke. It felt like rain came down overhead, though it didn't hurt. That's when she knew this was really happening, she knew there was no turning back. Maria Hill was going to be a mom, as was her girlfriend. Nerves coursed through her body as her mind went to different places and she was no longer present. What if she's a failure? What if her daughter hates her? What if she can't do this and leaves her biological daughter with her girlfriend... and Natasha hates the little girl because of her? What if she fails everyone around her? What if she's a terrible mom? What if she makes every mistake possible? What if Natasha has been lying and can't handle it... Nat's twenty-one and she's twenty-three. Two years can make a difference.
"I love you," Natasha then whispers, never letting go. Although I don't know if she physically can at the moment. "I can't wait to meet our little angel, you're going to be the best mom ever. I'm here every step of the way, you've got this. Just keep pushing."
Her mind relaxed, though her body didn't. Natasha was real, her daughter is real. She's fine, she's not dying like her mother did. At Natasha's words she knew everything would be okay. Natasha wasn't going to end up hating her, Natasha had talked about this. Sometimes, in only the best ways possible, it seemed Tasha was more excited for their daughter than the one carrying. She knew Nat couldn't physically have children so she knew what this meant to her. Natasha wasn't going to leave her, they were co-parenting. Some things Nat'd be better at, and that was okay. They'll be okay.
Hours passed, and it was now 21:05 (9:05pm) and that's when it happened. They started to hear crying. After a few more contractions the umbilical chord was shown and Natasha was invited to cut it. Then Maria was handed her beautiful, healthy, new born.
Natasha and Maria were moms. It's real.
"Hello, Sasha Aleksandra Romanoff-Hill." Nat coos, lightly brushing her finger over her daughter's hand.
After Maria holds her baby for a few minutes with Natasha spectating, she sighs. It could've been minutes or hours, both lavishing in the feeling of belonging. Of love. Natasha was offered to hold Sasha, and she did. No amount of worry about the future could outweigh the sense of pride that both women were feeling. This was Natasha's girlfriend's creation, this was her little daughter.
Their daughter was beautiful, even if she still was all sticky from birth. Though Maria was exhausted, she was content, ravishing in the euphoric feeling of seeing her baby girl, beautiful in more ways than one. She had gorgeous blue eyes like her mother, but something off-putting biologically blew the couple away. Sasha already had a little bit of hair, though that's not the uncommon beauty she possessed, no. It was the copper-red resting on her head. She will always, always have a bit of her Mama with her. The two women locked eyes with each other after both staring at their daughter in Natasha's arms. They lightly smiled. This- this was a hectic and gorgeous day.
When Sasha started suckling on the air Nat passed her back to Maria. Ria didn't know exactly how it worked, but just leant down her daughter to latch on to her breast. It seemed Sasha knew what was going on more than her mother fresh out of the womb. This- this was good.
After some time Sasha was cleaned, weighed, measured, and more. Sasha was tiny, 6 pounds and 7 ounces to be exact. She's 18 inches long, and healthy! Gosh, what Maria and Natasha would've done if she wasn't. Sasha, welcome to the world.
As she sleeps, the girlfriends' sign and write what they need to. They're both first on the list for blood transfusions and other sorts of treatments, and they're both primary caretakers and parents to their daughter.
Sasha Aleksandra Romanoff-Hill. Gosh, can they just bask in this moment forever. Before the crying, walking, talking. Just the happiness they feel. But yet again, smiles and giggles and movie nights are all ahead of them. They're mamas, yes that's what they are.
It's now about midnight and Natasha and Maria are sat there in the hospital room, stuck in a small conversation as Maria held Sasha in her arms. Their little girl was in a diaper and swaddle, still sleeping. Wow... just wow. They weren't ready to sleep though tired as hell. They will, but one of them will have to be awake. The dangers that could happen while all passed out in a busy hospital too scary to ignore.
Then Fury came in, though he never left the hospital during Maria's labour he'd given the women their needed time. He smiled before sitting in the chair opposite of Natasha, sitting in one of those manly poses, one leg resting on the other. "I see the little agent has finally arrived."
"Happy?" Natasha asked, head laying back on the cushioned seat, slightly rolling her eyes before looking back at her daughter. She still couldn't wrap her mind around it all, but specifically the coloring of Sasha's hair. It was just so similar to her own. God she was beautiful, just so beautiful.
"She'll be the best spy ever," he remarks with a sassy, serious, playful and joyous voice. When he wants to show emotion- he shows emotion. That's decidedly how it works.
Maria meekly smirks, holding her daughter's head just a little bit closer to her chest. "Only if she wants to be."
"Only if she wants to be, yes. But if she's your child, there's some training that she'll have to undergo for her own safety. You both have some people on your bad side, as do I. She won't ever have a normal life." He said it out of love but the pit in his recipients' stomachs dropped.
Way to ruin the moment. But he wasn't wrong.
FEBRUARY 11th, 2006
(Day 1 of parenting)
9:03 (9:03am)
Sasha was discharged fairly fast the next morning due to her healthy demeanor. She had one last feeding before sleeping in her room, something Fury delightfully put together. That man did something pretty cool to help Maria and Natasha stay hidden yet live together.
Rooms for level 9 agents was on the floor directly below level 10's. The agent above Natasha just recently died, and the agent beside her (her room was at the beginning of the hall) happened to be demoted. From there, Maria moved her room to be rightfully above the prized agent, and from there a trap door and ladder/built in shelf was created. A door then was built to open up to the extra room, which was now Sasha Romanoff-Hill's. There was some lie the SHIELD agents believed that that flat belonged to some rando on a year long mission. They weren't going to be able to stay hidden for much longer now that they were co-parenting for their little one. But they didn't want to leave SHIELD premises, and had no where else to go. Maria was going to take it slow but Natasha had no time off. She could ask- but she didn't want to tell anyone they were together. She couldn't. This was her little thing, not all of SHIELD's.
Maria Hill's room would be the living space, Natasha's room their shared bedroom, and the extra room is now Sasha's. This was all they needed. A little family built out of a terrible event. This does not mean rape is okay, never in a million years. But Maria wanted to make the best of it, and she had support. Fast forward to the overturning of Roe v Wade, Maria would not approve just because she chose to keep the baby. This shouldn't have to be clarified, but right now it needs to be.
"Oh, I'm exhausted," Maria exhales, falling onto her bed. She jiggles with her postpartum belly fat. She laughs to herself, loopy.
"Oh, you are," Natasha says seductively, before jumping on top of her girlfriend, kissing her everywhere. "Well," she starts, before kissing her again. "I." Kiss. "Know." Kiss. "You're." Kiss. "Tired." Kiss. "But." Kiss. "I'm." Another kiss. "So." Kisssss. "Proud." Kissy kiss. "Of." She stares at Maria's eyes, smirking, before finding her lips. "You!"
Maria brings her arms to wrap around Nat's body. "Thank you, detka. That means a lot."
"Anytime." She plops down next to her girlfriend, resting her head on her. "I love you, so much. I might be a bit colder when we're out in public aka SHIELD, but don't forget that that's just out there. You know me. The real me. And it means more than anything to be apart of your world."
Maria sighs, knowing no matter how many times she tells Natasha, it will take a lot of time to convince the younger redhead she's wanted. That she has a place in this world.
"Apart of our world, Natty. Apart of Sasha's. You exist in our little world, not my world. Our world. You, me and Sasha. Got it?"
"Mhm." Nat yawn. "Got it."
She falls asleep then. Maria's not sure if she slept at all last night, though she wouldn't be shocked if she didn't. She scoots Natasha off so she can lean over to check the baby monitor one last time before falling asleep as well.
A lot happened in a little over a year. She started dating Natasha, she got serious with Natasha. She got raped then decided to keep the baby. She told Fury she was dating and pregnant. She went baby shopping! She went on leave with SHIELD. She learned so much about the cold hearted Russian spy and she had her daughter, Sasha Aleksandra ROMANOFF-Hill. You know, she wouldn't change a thing. But she just can't wait for the future.
