Planet: Earth
Location: Forbidden Forest
When I was deep in the forest and a safe distance away from the camp, I fell to my knees. I brought both of my hands up to my face, my bottom lip trembling and teeth chattering. I did not know this feeling, but I did not like it. What James had been doing to Lucy was confusing. The way her voice sounded told me she liked it which hurt so much.
I was torn from my thoughts as I heard footsteps crunching on the forest floor. They became louder as they came closer then suddenly the noise stopped. Thinking it was James, I said, "I am not going back, so leave, James."
However his chuckle had me standing to my feet and spinning around. "Hate to disappoint you but as you see, I'm not James."
A gasp left my throat. "Derek," I growled and backed away from him. He clapped his hands and five people appeared from behind the trees. They held guns and were pointing them at me. "What do you want?"
"Jewels, what do I want? Let's see, I have a long list. I can read it out to you," he smirked, pulling a white cloth out of his pocket and wiped his forehead. "But on top of that list, is your name."
"I refuse to go back! I will not be your prisoner!" My statement had Derek laughing loudly. I watched as he placed his hands on his hips. "I will kill you."
"Well, come on then." He stepped forwards spreading both of his arms out. "Kill me then, Jewels. I don't have all day." A smirk was plastered across his face. When I did not move, he sighed, "For heavens sake! Fine, you know what, I'll just kill your boyfriend."
"M-my what—who are you talk ab—"
"Jewels?"
That voice, no, it cannot be.
I swiftly turned around, another gasp leaving my throat. One of Derek's men held a gun to the back of his head. There was a cut just above his right puffy red eye that was almost closed and one above his brow, and small rivers of blood ran from the corner of his lips. My own lips trembled and my legs suddenly felt as though they would no longer hold me as I said, "J-James?"
"Caught him out here looking for ya, shame he was too distracted by his broken heart to defend himself," Derek chuckled, running a hand through his dark brown hair. "I should kill him, Camp Jameson have been a real pain in my arse. Do you know how much trouble it caused when you took her?" he said, now approaching James. "Doubt it, but you'll pay."
My eyes widened as Derek grabbed James's chin roughly in one of his hands and used his other to land a punch on James's chest, which resulted with a groan escaping from James's mouth. Derek repeated this action, landing a further five hits in the same area.
I placed my hands over my ears in an attempt to cut out James's groans. It does not work, I could feel James's pain as if it were my own. "S-stop!" I screamed, this causes Derek to straighten his posture and turn to me. Smirking Derek clenched his fist and hits James across his face. "I SAID STOP!" My veins felt like they were on fire as the energy began to surface.
"Stop her!" Derek ordered his men who tried to shoot me, but using my power I leaped into the air landing behind the men, touching them and turning them into ash. "No!"
"You know what they say," James said, his voice weak. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust."
"Shut up!" Using his right foot he kicked James in his lower stomach causing James to fall to the ground.
Although I still did not want to be near him, I found myself running over to James and kneeling beside him. "Are you okay?" I asked, placing my hands that still glowed on his shoulders.
James lifted his head so that he was looking at me and frowns. "No, Jewels, I'm not okay." He attempted to stand up but when I tried to help him he pushes me away. "I came to apologise to you because I'm not a good person and I never meant to hurt you." He grunted pushing himself off the ground and stands with both hands on his knees. "What happened back there with Lucy, i-it was a mistake." He was looking at me now, his hazel eyes burning into mine.
"Mistakes do not just happen and you were away with Lucy for two weeks," I told him, feeling tears forming in my eyes. "Whatever that was, you have done it before with her, haven't you?"
He nodded. "I won't lie to you, Jewels. Yes, I have. But what I have with her is nothing compared to the feelings I feel for you."
"You do not have any feelings for me, if you did—"
The sound of a gun firing interrupted me. I could hear the noise of the bullet whizzing through the air before it lodges into James's side. He falls forwards, I place my hands out catching him.
His eyes widened with shock. "Jewels, I'm s-so sorry. Crap t-this hurts." He winced, moving his hand to cup his injury. "I-if I could turn back time, I'd—" James's eyes rolled to the back of his head and his eyelids closed.
"James, please do not go, do not leave me," I sobbed, but he did not respond, his body goes limp in my arms.
Laughter entered my ears. "He got what he deserved."
My head snapped in the direction of the voice. I was shocked at who the voice belonged to. "Lucy?"
"Oh, don't look so surprised, you really think I'd stand by and let him play you? When he can have me instead." She smirked, the horrid girl smirk. "I hate the way he looks at you, he never looked at me like that."
"You are jealous," I spat, holding James in my arms. "You set him up."
She puts her gun away before clapping her hands. "And here I was thinking you're just as dumb as James. You proved me wrong."
"You shot him!"
"Big whoop-de-do, he's been shot before." She shrugged it off, "If you tell him I shot him, I'll kill you, Jewels."
I lay James on the ground and stand to my feet, Lucy does not know what I am capable of.
"I would like to see you try."
Before either of us had a chance to take it any further, there was a loud noise like a boom above us. Something falls from the sky, leaving a trail of smoke behind it.
"Jewels! Look out!" I do not see him but I felt Jeremy collide with my body, sending us both tumbling to the ground. Seconds later, an explosion rocked the surrounding forest.
Another object falls from the sky not far from us.
"What's going on?" Lucy said, standing up after being knocked to the ground.
Jeremy also stands but noticed James and was quick to kneel beside his cousin. "Lucy, what happened?"
"He was shot by—"
I was cut off by Lucy who completed my sentence, "By Derek."
"What? ROGS were here? What did they want?" Jeremy's eyes snapped to my direction.
Lucy smirked, folding her arms as thick black smoke rises from the impact zone behind her. "Why don't you ask her? Seems she was having a good old chat with him before I arrived to witness James getting shot."
Jeremy was about to answer when another object flew overhead and crashed into the side of a mountain, causing a loud explosion which shakes the ground. "Let's get James back to camp, Lucy help me with him."
Suddenly the necklace my father gave me when I was sent to the stars begins to flash purple. "They are coming," I said to Jeremy who was lifting James up with Lucy's help. They both turned to me, so I repeated, "They are coming but you are not ready."
"Who, Jewels? Who is coming?" Jeremy questioned, slinging James's left arm over his shoulder while Lucy did the same with his right arm.
There was but one word I had been afraid to say, that one word that forced me from my home and that one word which caused my people to flee the place they once called home.
"Zutorian's."
