The Darkness Here Just Got A Little Less Lonely And A Little More Wet
How Long? How long have I been in this space? How long have I failed? HOW LONG HAVE I HAD TO WATCH THEM DIE OVER AND OVER? How long...until that DAMN kid will reset? How long until I have to say the same thing...over...and over...AND OVER. My fists clenched tightly, my gaze steadily watching over the broken world. HOW LONG, CHARA? HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE ME WAIT?
~~ 💀 ~~
Interesting. My gaze fell onto the monster which was staring at something. It was odd, a mortal somewhere outside of...well, the mortal realm. However, this place wasn't mortal. My cloak hung over me, letting me camouflage with this...cold-like void. My fingers twitched with uncerntainty. This is the first time...well...actually, the SECOND time I saw something escape the natural order. The natural cycle of life and death. It absolutely disgusted me. Even though I had to do my job, my time will be better spent finding that demon child. THAT DAMNED DEMON CHILD. I felt uneasy. Last time I had failed to reap someone with this...this kind of energy, I failed. I can't afford to have another mess up to take care of. I took a deep, shaky breathe. I can do this. I can reap this monster and just continue with my job. Nothing more.
~~💔~~
I let myself sit onto the icy, dark floor. Was this it? Was the child really SATISFIED with this? With KILLING everyone I had loved? I...I just need ONE more chance...ONE MORE RESET. I-I can convince the next version of myself to cooperate! I just need to THINK. I can't live with the fact that they...All of them...are gone. Please, JUST ONE MORE RESET. I CAN...I CAN... I felt cold tears run down my pale face. I felt my fists shake with losing Determination. I stared out into the world, gritting my teeth.
Click.
Every bone in my body froze. A sudden chill ran through me. The feeling of being watched was placed on my back. Was...Was someone there? I wanted to run. I wanted to escape. I wanted to get away from this feeling. This awful, dreadful feeling. I slowly turned around.
Click...Click.
I could barely see a figure making it's way towards me. They were wearing all black, their cloak shrouding most of their appearence. In their hand, was...
Click...Click.
I felt my blood run cold. My vision began to blur and my hands started to shake.
In their hand, was...
I tried to steady myself, trying to bring my senses together. Flashs of the battle I had with that demon flickered in my vision, in and out. In and out. The figure drew closer.
Click...Click.
The sound of hollow bone echoing throughout the darkness only heightened my fears. My breathing was shallow, my vision still blurring. In their hand... I felt dizzy, as if the world was spinning rapidly.
'COME ON, GENO, CONCENTRATE!' I screeched inside my brain, letting one of my hands steady my pounding head. Why did the object seem so familiar?
Click...Click.
They drew even closer. The glare of the blade made me uneasy.
This glint...This same feeling...What was it?
Click. Click. Click.
This...Red. Red is all I could connect. White. Grey. The color of DUST. The color of BLOOD. Black. Ink Black. The color...OF DEATH.
Click
I raised up my left palm, my eye flaring with magic.
No.
NO.
I AM NOT GIVING UP NOW.
I experienced my DETERMINATION returning.
I...I DIDN'T WANT T DIE.
Not yet...Not just yet.
~~💀~~
I paused in my tracks. Their aura was immensely different. It was so similiar...FRIGHTENINGLY similar to the sensation I felt during the reaping of...#####. I cursed under his breath, soft enough so only I could hear. Why couldn't I say it?
#####.
#####!
I gave out a small, frustrated groan. I'll figure it out later. Now...My body turned towards the skeleton before me. Now that I was closer, I inspected my victim. My gaze settled onto the skeleton, slightly amazed. It seemed that he was bleeding both internally and externally. I also sensed chipped and broken bones under his clothing. His soul was in an even worse condition. It's barely even one, just a small, chipped fragment. I felt a strong pulse from it, however. Huh. Interesting. He seemed frantic. His visible eye had flared with an ombre of color, ranging from blue, to a violet, to a crimson red. Speaking of his eyes (sockets??? .-.), something intriqued me about his other. The right eye (socket .-.) was covered by a wall of pure energy. It seemed as if he wanted to hide what he truly appeared to be. Very...
I shook my head. No. Get back on task. He was scheduled to die almost lifetimes ago. What had happened for him to escape the cycle?
More importantly, HOW?
~~💔~~
I raised my hand, forcing the figure into a white box, trapping us both.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" I yelled at them, ready for attack.
Their hood only provided clear sight of their mouth, which was curled into an amused grin. Flashes of that fight came back to me, only making my fears worse. My hand twitched. He looked at me, his cold stare burning right through me and his grin fading. He took a step closer. My senses (on high alert) reacted, summoning a charged blaster and immediately bursting and showering pure, hostile magic in the person's direction. They didn't move. They didn't flinch. The shining magic blasted into them.
What? Did I actually kill them? DID I ACTUALLY KILL THEM? WOW. THAT WAS EA-
...oh. What?
The cloaked figure emerged unscathed, unfazed. They proceeded closer towards me.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH SHIT.
The box evaporated, enabling me to escape.
WOW. I DIDN'T EXPECT TO POSSIBLY DIE THIS WAY.
I need to leave before something bad happens. I turned to my left to flee, but something kept me from moving. Something the same as a force. As if rope was tethering me in place. Then, it hit me. This person...was using magic on me. Telekinetic magic. My facial expression turned grim at the realization. I heard soft chuckling coming from my attacker. It felt as if I was cornered prey and the predator was only moments away from a certain pounce...and kill. I didn't want to...I COULDN'T.
The figure was now before me, the blade of their scythe reflecting my terrified expression. They raised their scythe, ready for a certain strike. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for that same sensation I felt before. The burning sensation of a narrow blade cutting into me. The sensation of pain, Of Death.
"Papyrus...I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." I managed to choke out.
I awaited my fate, now accepting it.
...
But nothing came.
I slowly opened my only good eye to peer at my executioner. The sight I caught was surprising. They were...crying? They realeased me, then looked away.
What was going on?
I heard their soft breathing had grown shaky. I gave them a questioning look, but it seemed they were ignoring me for the moment. Their hand lifted from their side, and brushed against their own face. Tears slid down their hand. I watched them slowly drop to their knees. I was utterly speechless. From the soft silence, I could hear one word being uttered from them. Papyrus. Papyrus. Papyrus. I felt a part of me wishing to comfort them, to help them...but the majority of me screamed for me to run. Run and don't look back. This person almost tried to kill me! WHY WAS I FEELING SORRY FOR THEM?
They calmed slightly, and managed to look up at me. I could now see most of their face. I was taken aback at what I saw. It was...me. Tears stained the white surface of his face. I didn't know what to say. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. I closed it, then reluctantly, offered my hand. The cloacked person seemed as if he wanted to take it, but he didn't. Instead, he got up himself, and wiped his tears. The silence between us was awkward, but I didn't mind it.
"You lost him too...right?" I finally blurted.
He looked at me for a moment, as if he was hesitant to answer the question. After a few moments, he gave me a small nod. I was piecing all of this together. So, this guy must have been an alternate version of myself, granted he seemed similar to me and knew who Papyrus was. Judging by his clothing, and the devastating feeling he gave me when I first met him, he is from somewhere where he is rather strong, and doesn't have a lot of technology...I think. I was basing all of my theories and thoughts just from appeareance.
"I'm...I'm sorry to hear that..." I meekly sighed.
Another moment of awkward silence.
"Sans."
I looked over at the cloaked skeleton.
"What?"
"Sans. My name is Sans. I'm a God of Death."
I froze. GOD OF DEATH.. WHAAAAAT????? OKAY. Gods...Gods...which Alternate universe have I seen which has GODS? Hm... The only AU I can think of that has gods right now is...
"Reapertale?" I blurted aloud.
He peered over at me, and gave me a small nod.
"...Geno."
"Geno...Hm. Interesting name." He commented, giving me a small smile.
"...Um...Do you go by another name...?" I asked, feeling awkward calling this person Sans.
He paused.
"...not particularly."
I thought for a moment, then looked him in the eye.
"...Is it alright if I call you something else? Calling you by 'Sans' is a little...uncomfortable for me."
He seemed to have raised an non-existent eyebrow, but shrugged shortly after I asked.
I continued, "So...does Death sound good...or...?"
He gave me a nod. I smile slightly. Alright. I was starting to think...that this void was going to get a lot less lonely.
