Love Has It's Own Ways Of Turning

~~💔~~

Geno shoved Reaper off of the hill, completely silent.

"HOLY SH*T-" Reaper stumbled, landing on his stomach. "God...I didn't actually think you were THAT strong..."
Geno stood up from his spot, blushing madly. He was brushing his hands over his mouth, trying to form words. Reaper groaned, rubbing his back.

"I didn't think you would push me, but I guess I was wrong."

The scarfed skeleton couldn't speak. He stared at the god at the bottom of the hill, his contracted pinpricks never leaving the other. "...reaper."

The god glanced up at Geno, meeting his gaze. "Yes?"

Geno took a shaky breathe. "I...I can't..."

Reaper's eyes widened, his body hurriedly drifting from the ground and floating towards the distressed Geno. "I understand if I was too quick! You don't need to rush yourself over anything-"

"SHSHSHSHSHSH."
Reaper fell silent as Geno shushed him.
"Just...I'm confused."

Reaper cocked an 'eyebrow'. "About what?"

"Gosh, I don't know, you immediately kissing me? I mean, I'm just a piece of trash which doesn't matter. Everything I've done has just ended in failure.  I don't have any benefit to you or possess any important power or-"

Reaper wrapped his arms around Geno, pulling him in a warm embrace. "Shhhh...Shush."

"But-"

"SHHHHH!" Reaper laid a bony finger against Geno's mouth.
"Please, you don't give yourself enough credit!"

"But-"

"No. I won't hear it." The god intertwined his left hand with the other's, slowly closing his eyes. They both stood silently on the hill, listening to everything around them. Geno's soul was pounding.

Everywhere else seemed blurred or vague as his...

Geno no longer knew how to adress Reaper.

A friend

A god

A...

Reaper smiled sweetly. The leaves rustled with a quick breeze  as some distant chirping from birds filled the empty atmosphere. They sang of a sweet song, the god swaying with the tune.

"You...You are something beautiful, Geno. You are unique and different." Reaper gently spun Geno, starting to dance with him.
"I couldn't possibly list all of your flawless traits. I could start, though." The cloaked skeleton stepped with Geno, never missing a beat.
"Beautiful," Reaper pulled Geno closer to himself, the soft thumps of their souls beating as one.
"Delicate," Reaper twirled with him, the scarlet scarf spinning with them.
"Precious," Geno's face was growing blue at each comment he made, the words drifting in the air as if they were true. Though, the god stated them as if they were true.
Maybe they were.
"Breathe-Taking," Reaper slowed to a stop under the tree, the night sky blanketing the earth. The stars twinkled brightly as the moon shone it's radiance over the land. The moonlight touched the hill, providing light for the two skeletons. Reaper opened his eyes, meeting Geno's deep ones.
"Perfect." Geno's chest was exploding with emotion as he saw the pure love in Reaper's eye sockets.

Overwhelmed, Geno buried his face into Reaper's chest. The god let out a small chuckle as he stroked Geno's back.
"And nothing can change those facts."

~~~
Soft humming came from Reaper as he flew across the sky. Geno was cradled in his arms, refusing to speak. Soon, they both touched down in front of Life's sanctuary. Reaper strode in swiftly, walking quietly. Despite his silence, Life detected his presence and opened the door to her home.
"Reaper? Is something the matter?" She asked worriedly, seeing as Geno was in his arms. "Did something happen?"
"Oh, something happened." Reaper smiled, shifting Geno in his arms.
"HE KISSED ME." Geno suddenly blurted, making everyone freeze. Life stood still, staring blankly at the two.
"Holy F*ck Geno, you are such a master at being subtle." Reaper laughed.
"I DON'T CARE! I WANTED TO MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER SINCE YOU JUST STORMED OUT, BUT THEN YOU GO OFF BEING A BASTARD!" Geno escaped Reaper's clutches, turning to confront him with a blue-dusted face.
"Wow, you feel that way? 'Cause that's not what you were saying a few minutes ago-"
Geno gripped a pillow from Life's couch using his magic and threw it at Reaper. The god got slapped in the face with the object, stumbling back a little. "YOU IDIOT!"
Reaper grabbed the pillow, dropping it to the ground. "Geno. Calm down."
"NO, I WILL NOT-"
The god vanished suddenly, leaving a small puff of smoke where he once stood. Geno stopped as a hand grabbed his wrist from behind, an arm snaking around his waist.
"Calm down." Reaper restated, resting his forehead onto the back of Geno's skull. The skeleton raised his available hand, readying himself to smack Reaper.
However, a voice inside his head screamed for him to stop, halting the motion.
Reluctantly, Geno lowered his hand, letting himself breathe.
"Well. This seems like an interesting event." Life finally sighed, walking up to the two. "Why don't we calm down over some tea?"
Reaper smiled thankfully at his friend, nodding in approval.
Geno didn't respond.
~~💀~~
Geno sipped his jasmine tea, calming his nerves. Life was settled onto a singular lounging chair while Geno and Reaper both sat next to each other on the wide couch. The furniture was facing a glass coffee table which sat a distance from a wall, decorated with a beautiful portrait of a graceful garden of many flowers.
"So...May I ask what happened?" Life questioned lightly, setting down her cup. Reaper opened his mouth to answer, but Geno gripped his hand tightly to stop him.
"I would prefer not to talk about the matter for the moment, if that is alright with you, Ms. Toriel." Geno answered, glancing at the goddess with unease.
She acknowledged his discomfort and obliged, reaching for her cup. Reaper didn't like tea too much, choosing a warm coffee with cream and sugar instead. He took a big gulp of his beverage of choice and let out a sigh.
"I am sorry, Geno. I should have known you didn't find interest in me." Reaper apologized, gripping his mug tightly. Geno peered at him for a few seconds before staring down at the ground, not saying a word.
Reaper saw the action from the corner of his eye and felt worse.
Geno hated him and he knew that.
He shouldn't have confessed to him so soon.
Reaper had messed up.
Life turned to a nearby window and set down her cup once more.
"It is getting late. Maybe Geno should turn in for the night?" Life suggested, smiling kindly.
Geno nodded slightly, placing down his cup onto the table. Reaper, having drank coffee, let out a small grumble. He wanted to tell Geno his worry and his apologies as soon as possible.
Though, it was too late.
Life took the cups to the kitchen.
Geno laid down onto the couch, a look of careless somber filling his sight.
Reaper walked out of the house, giving Geno time to sleep.
He probably didn't want to see him anyways.
~~💔~~
Life retreated to her room and the lights went dark. Geno stared up at the ceiling as he thought.
He felt conflicted.
Geno loved his friend, but didn't think Reaper would like him too.
He couldn't think straight. Geno needed to clear his mind.
Sluggishly, he flopped off of the couch. He trudged down the hall and turned into the bathroom. Turning on the lights, he closed the door behind himself and turned on the faucet. The water dribbled from the spout quietly as Geno started to splash water onto his face. After he splashed himself for a couple of minutes, he turned off the faucet and wiped his face with the bathroom. Then, he stared at his reflection.
How could Reaper fall in love with him?
He had small bags under his 'eyes'.
His clothes were rubbish and his scarf was stained with DT and dust.
Half of his skull was still gone and his glitches still covered it messily.
Geno was a mess.
How could Reaper see him as anything else than that?
Suddenly, Geno's reflection looked at him up and down.
"Wow, you really let yourself go." His reflection simply stated, inspecting himself.
Geno blinked. He didn't say that.
"But what do you expect from such a piece of trash like yourself? Hell, I don't understand why he likes you."
"Neither do I." Geno admitted, staring at the reflection. Was he hallucinating?
"You shouldn't love him, Geno! You remember what happened last time you loved someone?" The reflection lifted a finger to his neck and made a slicing motion at it. "All you will feel is despair when he dies. The closer you are to him, the more it will hurt when he leaves you."
"What do you mean? Gods can't die."
The mirror-version of him looked at him as if he was completely stupid. "Gods can die. How do you think his brother went?"
Geno opened his mouth to reject his reflection, but closed it when he realized that the mirror was right.
"Face it. He'll die eventually. It's better to leave him now than get hurt later."
Geno took in a breathe before turning to the door and leaving. The lights flickered off on their own, leaving Geno to the darkness.
The mirror was pitch black, a glowing red smile shining from it's shadows.
"Good Night, Geno."
