A Cooling Winter Can Warm Hearts

~~💔~~

The child squirmed around a little, crawling next to Geno. The bigger skeleton smiled at the child, picking it up gently and letting it rest on his lap. Reaper sat next to Geno on the couch, casually watching the two with a content smile.

Just then, Life strolled in. "Brr...It's getting colder outside." She informed them, looking out the window.

Most of the leaves on the trees had fallen the previous month, leaving the great trees barren. The sky became more and more of a light blue throughout the months, showing signs of a soon to come winter.

"Winter...one of my busiest seasons."  Reaper groaned, laying his head back onto the couch. "Seriously, disease and illnesses spread like wildfire during this time, making my work a little harder."

"Will that mean you'll be working your...ahem...job more often?" Geno asked, his bony fingers playing with the tiny hands of the infant in front of him.

"Well, recently, they have made medication and cures for there injuries and sicknesses, so I don't think you'll have to work as hard this year, my friend." Life smiled, proud of her children's progress.

"Yeah yeah, less work for me, the better." Reaper mumbled, tilting his head so that he could look back at Geno and Goth.

"Snow...I've seen snow plenty of times in the underground. There was a section of it which froze over and became the 'Snowy Woods' and 'Snowdin'." Geno started telling, chuckling at the ridiculous names the king had given them. "It was very cold, but very warming at the same time. Honestly, it was the most perfect place to live..."

The lights shimmered brightly and magnificently outside of their decorated house. They flickered on and off, displaying a beautiful show.

'WOWIE! THIS LOOKS SUPER COOL, SANS!' Papyrus cheered. He admired the lights, simply dazzled by them.

'Heh. Sure does, Paps.' the addressed other answered, chuckling in amusement at Papyrus' reaction.

'Can we go this every year?' the scarfed one asked, cheerfully bouncing around.

'Sure. Whatever makes you happy, bro.' Sans smiled, enjoying the view.

"Geno?"

The smaller awoke from his daydream, shaking off the images. "Y-Yes?" he answered, managing a smile.

Reaper set a hand on his. "Are...Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" Geno asked, ripping his gaze from the baby to Reaper.

"...It's nothing." The god mumbled, taking his 'eyes' off of Geno and looking over at Life. "Anything special for today or something?"

Life walked around the couch so that she was at Reaper's side. "Well, I could whip up some hot chocolate." She offered.

Geno perked up at this notion. "OOH! Yes." He smiled.

"I would prefer coffee." Reaper bluntly thought aloud, crossing his arms.

Geno gave Reaper a look. "Seriously, you drink coffee so often, I wonder if you have become fifty percent coffee by now." Geno hissed.

"Well, I wouldn't  be surprised if that was actually true." Life agreed, crossing her fuzzy arms. "Friend, the amount of caffeine consumption you continue to do is rather concerning. If you keep doing that, you will never get any sleep."

Reaper stiffened. "Heh...Yeah. I definitely don't want that." Reaper laughed nervously, uneasiness written all over his face.

"Reaper." Geno stated.

"Yes?" The god answered.

"Truth. Now."

"What? But I just said-"

"TRUTH. NOW.

"BUT THAT IS THE TRUTH!" Reaper retorted. "Coffee isn't killing me or anything, geez." Geno stared at the other suspiciously before Life clapped her hands together.

"Well, I'm going to make hot chocolate for all of us!" Life grinned, gliding across the room to the kitchen.

"Mwah." A small voice squeaked. Both skeletons turned towards the baby, it's hands reaching up to Geno.

"Hm? What is it?" Geno questioned, prodding the baby with a tickling finger.

The child giggled at the touch and opened it's mouth again. "Mwah!"

Reaper floated over curiously, watching. "The hell?" He hissed, very confused.

The baby caught sight of Reaper and it's smile increased. "Da! Da!" He squealed, reaching out for Reaper.

"What?" The hovering god rose a non-existent eyebrow.

"I think he wants to say Hi." Geno chuckled, handing Goth to Reaper.

The cloaked skeleton blinked before glancing at Geno. "And what am I supposed to do with this? Just hold it?"

"Uh. I guess."

"Cool."

The child's hands grazed Reaper's chin, giggling. "Da! Dea!"

"Hm? What are you trying to say?" Reaper gently landed beside Geno, letting the other peer at the baby.

"Da! Da...Dea...Dth! Dea! Death!" The baby squeaked, smiling very widely. The atmosphere fell silent as the child continued to sputter that word.

"...Holy crap." Geno breathed. The breathe soon turned into a wheeze, which quickly morphed into bundles of laughter. "HOLY CRAP."

"Did he just say...?" Reaper mumbled, completely stunned.

Geno, on the other hand, was nearly shaking Reaper. "THIS IS HILARIOUS." He laughed, cuddling his son for a few moments as well.

~~~
"Death! Death!"
Life, Geno, Reaper, and Goth sat at the table, mugs of steaming hot chocolate set on it's surface.
"...I am a bit surprised," Life started, shifting her fluffy hands uneasily. "that his first words are...that." She stared down at her drink.
Geno looked at her. "Hm? I don't see anything wrong with it." The scarfed skeleton grinned, petting Goth, which smiled and snuggled into his hand.
Life bit her lip. "Well, he just literally said the word 'Death'." Life added on.
"So? I'm the God Of  Death. Doesn't seem so strange with that fact still there, does it?" Reaper brought up as he took a sip from his drink. He quickly set it down, his face scrunching up and unscrunching. "THAT'S HOT, AGH."
"Pffft. I didn't know Gods Of Death could be defeated so easily to hot beverages." Geno joked, smiling.
"Well, I did get defeated by a pretty hot drink before~." Reaper cooed, smirking at his lover.
Geno's eye-sockets widened, his grip on the mug tightening as his cheekbones tinted a faint blue. "You bastard-"
"Hey, you walked into that one." Reaper defended, holding up the baby as a shield.
"THE HELL? USING A BABY AS A SHIELD!?!?" Geno growled.
"Help Goth, save me with your cuteness." Reaper whispered to the child.
Somehow, the baby understood his father's pleas and made an adorable gurgling noise while giggling. Geno took the baby from Reaper and hugged the small child.
"You two are hilarious!" Life laughed, blowing a bit on her drink before sipping it.
"Thank you, we try."  Reaper chuckled, rolling his pinpricks.
"Though, it seems it comes to Reaper all too naturally." Geno added on, giving the god a challenging stare.
Reaper must have brushed it off, taking a drink of his beverage.
~~~

"So, are we going to do nothing all day?" Geno asked, playing with the baby once more.

"Probably." Reaper sighed, drifting in mid-air. "I mean, unless you want to fly and possibly drop the baby as we do so."

"WHAT!? NO!" Geno screeched, giving Reaper a hardy flick to the skull. "Don't be stupid!"

"According to you, everything I do is stupid." Reaper scoffed, smiling.

"WELL...damn it, I have no witty remark for that. DAMN IT, REAPER!" The smaller swung his fiery (and rather pathetic) rage at Reaper, missing terribly.

"Seriously Geno, do you wanna go somewhere?"

"Not after you suggesting pancaking our child." Geno huffed, pulling the resting baby into his embrace.

"Well then." Reaper's tone sounded defeated. "The couch it is." His form plopped onto the couch, leaning against  Geno.

"Hey, the couch can be an...interesting...place?" The smaller attempted, realizing half-way through saying it that it was a mistake.

"Psh. Yeah. Look at all these interesting looking seams. Oooh."

"Shut up, I was trying!"

Reaper snickered. "Alright, alright." he pulled the two into his arms and laid onto his back, having both Geno and Goth on top of him. "Let's just enjoy the rest of the day." Reaper suggested, smiling lazily.

Geno sighed. "That's fine by me."
