A Black-Winged Stork Flutters Delicately Through The Window

~~💔~~

Shift.

Shift.

Yawn.

"Heh...awake?" Geno mumbled, his tired eye-sockets too exhausted to open.

After the time they had ventured upstairs, Reaper and Geno had been spending more quality time together. Three weeks had passed and they enjoyed every second of it, finding something new to do or simply lazing around Life's sanctuary. Ever since then, Reaper had moved in with Geno on the couch and slept with him every night. They would tell each other ridiculous jokes or puns until they fell asleep, cuddling in each other's embrace.

Currently, Geno was laying on top of Reaper, feeling shifting from underneath him.

"Reaper?" Geno grumbled, reaching towards his lover. His hands were met with cold bones, causing his fingers to retract for a brief second.
"Reaper, why the hell are you so cold?" He hissed.

"mmmgh?" The god lazily responded, tired as well.

Finally, Geno sluggishly opened his eye-sockets, fixing an annoyed stare at the skeleton beneath him.
What he wasn't expecting was the small bundle of bones right underneath him, squirming from the lack of warmth.

Geno blinked. "...holy sh*t." he managed to whisper, his eyes wide.

Reaper felt the movements on his chest and groggily peered up at Geno. "Hm?"

The smaller quickly clutched onto Reaper's shoulders and shook him, awakening the god. "HOLY SH*T!"

Reaper, obviously surprised, gripped Geno's hands that were on his shoulders and stopped the other. "What are you 'holy sh*tting' about??" Reaper growled, a little grouchy from the rude awakening.

"WHAT AM I HOLY SH*TTING ABOUT?! WHY AREN'T YOU HOLY SH*TTING BY NOW???" Geno yelled, panicking.

"MY GOD, GENO, CALM DOWN!" Reaper retorted, matching Geno's tone.

Before the scarfed skeleton could retort, a small whine drifted through the air. They both glanced over at the source, a small baby skeleton curled up and crying.

"...oh."

"..."

"Oh. OH. OH." Reaper cautiously got up from the couch, drifting a safe distance away from the child.

Geno, on the other hand, stayed put, watching the baby squirm and attempt to grip onto anything. Eventually, the baby managed to crawl towards him, snuggling the cloth of his soft jacket. The scarfed skeleton gave the god a worried glance, looking from the baby, Reaper, then back again.

Quietly, Geno began to mouth words. 'What the hell do I do?'

Reaper didn't know exactly how to respond, a little at a loss of words himself. Finally, he managed to whisper to Geno. "I have no clue."

They both continued to simply stay where they were, watching the baby with concern.

Finally, Geno made a move to take off his jacket once the baby began to shiver and whimper, wrapping it around the child. "Geez, I may have known how to take care of my bro, but a baby may be a stretch."

He then paused.

His brother.

Papyrus.

When was the last time he even considered checking on him? He could be dying or suffering while Geno was simply enjoying his life-

"We could always ask Life for assistance?" Reaper slowly suggested, floating ever so slightly towards the couch.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he nodded in agreement.

Carefully, Geno dragged himself off the couch, cradling the baby in his arms. It's eye-sockets were comfortably shut, the signs of a very young youth.
It hadn't been there for long.

~~~
You could probably imagine Life's shock when she saw Geno standing with only a black T-shirt and shorts (paired with his usual and signature scarf), his jacket tightly (yet sloppily) tucked around a small baby as Reaper floated nervously behind them.
"Uh...?" Life started, staring at the sight before herself.
"We...need your help." Reaper quietly mumbled.
"Come again?"
"We-"
"WE NEED YOUR HELP." Geno blurted.
Life blinked. "...um..."
"JUST. HELP. US. PLEASE." Reaper begged through gritted teeth, inching closer and closer to Life with a strained smile.
"Take care of a child?...It has been so long..." Life murmured, staring at the baby.
"JUST HELP US PLEASE." Reaper repeated, motioning to Geno and the bundle in his arms.
"...Alright. I will try my best to support you in raising the child."
"Thank you." Geno said, smiling a little with relief.
~~💀~~
Reaper sat near the child, the baby crawling around on the floor. Geno was currently in the kitchen with Life, learning about all the things he might need to know about parenting. The god watched the baby skeleton with unease, shifting away whenever it tried to approach him.
Geno had caught sight of this once he returned to the living room where they were currently sitting. "Pfft. Are you afraid of a baby, Reaper~?" Geno teased, sitting next to him.
Reaper continued to stare at the child, wrapping his arm around Geno and pulling him into a side-hug. "...Its not that...its just..." Reaper looked at Geno, meeting his 'eyes'.
"What if I kill it?"
Geno's eye-sockets widened. "Wh-What?"
Reaper peered down at his bony palms, a look of bitterness directed towards it. "Everything I touch withers and decays. Shrivels and dies. I've always created death and destruction for all of my life...however..." He peered up at the baby, which had made it's way to Geno, snuggling the skeleton happily. "For the first time in my entire life, I MADE something... Something living. I...I don't want to..."
The god broke off his sentence to stifle a small sob.
Geno quickly brought Reaper into a tight embrace, holding him closely. "Reaper..."
"I highly doubt it."
Both skeletons turned to the goddess standing in the doorway of the kitchen, her arms folded as she watched the scene.
"What...?" Reaper quietly croaked.
 Life stepped forward, joining the group. "Well, it has been unheard of for a god to ever fall in love with a mortal. However...if my conclusions are correct..." She knelt down in front of them and settled onto the floor. With care, she held out her hands to Geno.
"May I?" She asked.
Geno nodded and carefully handed the baby to her. The child nestled comfortably in her arms, a small smile appearing on it's face. Then, she adjusted her grip so that the child was in one arm, her other arm reaching towards Reaper. Her hand was held out patiently, a warm smile spread across her face.
Reluctantly, Reaper set his own palm into her grip. Very slowly, she inched Reaper's fingers closer to the baby. When it was only centimeters apart, the god held his breathe.
With a swift movement, Life brought his hand forward.
...
..
.
~~☠~~
The child's 'eyes' blinked open. It blinked a few more times and the first thing it saw was two people: One with a dark cloak and the other with a red scarf.
Then, he peered up at the person which held him so dearly.
White.
Pearl white fluff in a dress.
Even though his mind told him, 'Yes. She must be my mother', his instincts flooded his bones.
With a small whimper, he began to scream.
This wasn't his mother.
This wasn't the same soft, yet unique touch.
This wasn't his real parent.
~~💔~~
The baby's eye-sockets opened as soon as Reaper touched it. The motion had startled the god so much, that he withdrew quickly. It had blinked a few times before looking over at Geno and Reaper. Then, it looked up at Life, blinking a few more times.
Suddenly, it started to cry, struggling in Life's grip.
Unable to contain it, the baby stumbled out of Life's hands and rolled over to Reaper. On instinct, the god picked up the baby and cradled it soothingly in his arms. The child soon died down, it's tears falling away and it's 'eyes' looking up at the cloaked skeleton once again.
Silence quickly filled the room as all three of them watched the baby. It blinked a few more times before smiling and closing it's eye-sockets contently.
A sigh of relief escaped both Geno and Reaper as the child fell into a small slumber.
"So...I guess it really is ours." Geno sighed once more.
"Huh. What a beautiful boy." Life chirped, happily clapping.
"Should we give it a name or are we just going to call him 'Baby' for the rest of his life?" Reaper questioned, readjusting his arms.
"Oh. Well...I didn't get that far." Geno admitted, scratching his skull.
"Are we going to combine our names or something? Maybe something along the lines of...what...Deno?"
"PFFFT. DENO?
"YES, DENO."
"How about Geath?" Life smiled.
"You're even worse, Tori!" Reaper laughed.
"What else is there???" Geno grumbled, thinking.
"OOH, GONA."
"What the hell is Gona?"
"I HAVE NO IDEA."
"How about...Granola?"
Life was now on the floor laughing, holding her stomach.
"That doesn't even make sense!
"What? I'm hungry."
"MIGHT AS WELL CALL HIM GOTH WHILE WE'RE AT IT."
Geno opened his mouth to add another ridiculous name, but paused. He processed the name for a few seconds before smiling. "Goth."
"What?"
"Goth! Goth is his name!" Geno exclaimed, his grin becoming wider.
"Huh. Goth...well, I guess it is a combination of our names. I'll accept it."
"Pfft. Alright then." Geno swept up the baby into his hands, holding it up like the scene in The Lion King.
"Welcome to the family, Goth!"
