Chapter 20 - Don't Ever
I sighed tiredly. "Transfiguration done. Now for Potions..." I yawned and sighed. I started writing the essay. "Amortentia is the most powerful love potion-" I yawned again and pulled a blanket over me, I adjusted my glasses and sighed.
"Stupid OWLs..." I continued writing. "And - and um... Veritasserum... has something to do with the truth... and.. The Hate Potion is that stupid one James and I worked on..."
"I can't be bothered to do this." I yawned and grabbed my werewolf book that I got from the library. I lay down and started reading about how werewolves have an urge to attack wizards and muggles when they see them. That's why so many people were scared of them... and that's probably why Remus didn't want to tell anyone. I sighed, not really wanting to read about werewolves anymore. I closed my eyes and fell asleep, my book still securely under my arm.
I felt someone take my book gently off me and pull a blanket over me. I opened my eyes slowly and yawned.
"Sorry. Did I wake you?" I looked up and saw Remus. He was deathly pale, and had cuts, blood, dirt and new scars on his face. His hair was a mess, and his lip was bleeding. My eyes widened.
"Remus! What happened to you?" I sat up, my glasses hanging from my ear. I took them off.
"Nothing... I'm fine...." He sighed.
"You're obviously not. Hang on, I'll be back." I stood up and screamed. The other Marauders were kneeling around the couch.
"Hey Fall." Sirius grinned.
"Hi..." I said, eyeing them carefully. I walked to my dormitory and came back down with a First-aid kit.
"Oh Isabel you don't have to-"
"Shut up Moony." James nudged him.
I sat in front of Remus. I grabbed some anti-bacterial wipes and looked him. "Can I?" He sighed with defeat and nodded. Slowly, I started cleaning the dirt and blood off his face. "What were you all doing?" I winced slightly, cleaning a particular, deep cut.
"It was a full moon." Peter said. I nodded and looked at Remus, who sighed. I finished with the wipes and grabbed a tub of cream.
"I still wish I could help. With your transformations, I mean." I stated. Remus shook his head.
"I know... but there's nothing that could be done." He stated.
"You could become an Animagus. Like us." James suggested.
"I don't even know what my patronus is! I do want to help." I opened it and put a small amount on my fingers. I hesitated, but Remus didn't say anything, so slowly and gently I applied the cream on his scarred face.
"We can see that." I turned and saw Sirius flipping through the books from the library about. I sighed. I had been doing a lot of research and it was sort of depressing... After I was done, applying the cream, I sighed and put all the stuff away.
"T-thanks." Remus said quietly.
"Don't mention it." He smiled slightly.
"Now you four better go to bed." I said, packing all my stuff,
"Yes, mother." James grinned. I glared at him playfully.
"I'm serious! Wait-"
"No I'm Sirius!" Sirius exclaimed.
"Sirius go to your room!" I said jokingly. They laughed and walked to their dormitory. I sighed and looked back at all my homework. I grabbed my quill and my Potions homework, before sitting back down again.
"Hey Isabel!" I looked up and saw Peter, by himself which was weird.
"Yeah?"
"You really should follow your own advice." I looked at him with confusion. "Go to bed."
"Fine." I sighed and packed all my stuff. "Thanks Peter."
"Don't mention it." I smiled at him which he returned and walked upstairs to my dormitory.
I yawned and placed my head on the desk, listening to Professor Binns boring voice in History of Magic. I started to close my eyes but someone tapped my shoulder, making me awake again.
"Izzy, wake up." Alice whispered to me.
"What?" I muttered, trying to close my eyes again but she shook me again. "I'm tired..."
"I know! You're falling asleep in class!"
"Everyone's falling asleep in class... Except for you and Lily... Look, even Remus is falling asleep!" I pointed at Remus who had his head on the table with his eyes closed. Alice sighed.
"Yeah that's weird. Remus isn't normally the one that falls asleep..." I sighed, knowing why he did fall asleep but I didn't tell Alice that.
"Maybe he realised that this class is too boring... See everyone's sleeping. So goodnight." I yawned and closed my eyes. Alice nudged me again and I groaned.
Thankfully, the bell rang and many people tiredly got up. I sighed and grabbed all my stuff as Lily tried to wake Marlene up.
"Marlene. Marlene. Mar? Marlene! Marlene." Lily said over and over again, but Marlene just shooed her away.
"A shame Sirius isn't here." I stated and yawned.
"Can you go get him?" I looked around but the Marauders had already left.
"I would... but I'm too tired to." I yawned and sat down on the desk. Lily rolled her eyes.
"How are you two so tired? It's not like you stayed up all night-"
"I did stay up all night! Doing homework!" Lily frowned.
"Huh, well can you just help me wake Marlene up? She's awake but she doesn't want to-"
"Leave it to me." I grinned and walked over to Marlene. I cleared my throat and said in a slightly different voice. "Hey Marlene! I'm Sirius Black! One of the Marauders, the hottest Marauder if you ask me-"
Lily groaned. "Really?! Are you ser-"
"Yes, yes I am." I grinned at Lily's annoyed expression. "Anyway-"
Suddenly, Marlene jumped up. "I'm up! And I know you're not Sirius!" She said and stood up. "What the bloody hell just happened?"
"You fell asleep. The bell went a few minutes ago." Alice said and Marlene's eyes widened.
"It's not my fault Professor Binns is-"
"See I'm not the only one." I added. Lily and Alice rolled their eyes and walked out of the classroom. Marlene sighed and she and I followed.
We walked to the Great Hall when I felt someone put an arm around me. They leaned against me and I sighed with annoyance.
"Honestly, I'm not that short." I stated, glaring at James slightly.
"But you're shorter then me. Which I just realised." James grinned. "Evans! Go out-"
"No!" Lily stormed off and James sighed.
"One day."
"And today's not that day." I said. "Anyway, what do you want?"
"Right, we need to talk." He steered me away from Alice and Marlene.
"Hey! Potter I was talking-" James led me to the end of the corridor, where there was not many people in sight.
"No you weren't. Now listen." He looked around then lowered his voice. "You know how Remus is pale and sick and has scars on his face-"
"Yes I know." I sighed. "Why don't you take him to the Hospital Wing?"
"He doesn't want to-"
"Well make him go to the Hospital Wing!" I yelled. "It's not good that he-"
"I know! We know!" James rolled his eyes. "But don't you think that if he does go to the Hospital Wing once a month it would cause lots of attention? Which is the last thing we need."
I sighed and thought for a minute. He could be right, but I wasn't going to tell him that.
"Well yes it could cause attention and people could start questioning him..." I started. "But still! Those cuts aren't going to heal themselves!!"
"Exactly. Look the Marauders and I were thinking-"
"Really? That's the first."
James glared at me. "Anyway. Last night, you healed Remus's scars-"
"I didn't heal them. I just wiped the blood and dirt off his face and put some cream over it."
"Exactly! You healed his scars! And did you see him today?"
"Yes he fell asleep in History of Magic!"
"I didn't know he fell asleep-"
"That's because you were asleep." He thought for a minute and gasped in realisation,
"Oh yeah." I rolled my eyes. "Well anyway. His scars they're not... well noticeable-"
"His scars are normally not noticeable."
"I know! But - you're not making this easier."
"What are you trying to say Potter?!" I asked, getting slightly annoyed.
"Okay so his scars aren't noticeable but they were-"
"Spit it out!!"
"Okay! Okay!" James rolled his eyes. "You're being very impatient like a few days ago-"
"Potter!" I warned.
"Okay! We were wondering if every full moon you could wait in the Common Room with your magical case-"
"It's called a First-Aid kit James."
"I know what it's called! I'm not stupid-" I coughed loudly and tried to hide my grin, making him glare at me. "Thank you."
"That wasn't meant to be a compliment." I said, trying not to laugh.
"I know." He eyed me carefully when I was still holding back a laugh. "Are you done?"
"Yep." I sighed and grinned at him. "Continue please."
"Okay, so we were wondering if you could wait in the Common Room, then when we come back you could clean Remus's wounds and we won't have to go to the Hospital Wing. Then there won't be any attention to him and his wounds are healed and everything's fine."
"Everything's not fine, he still is-"
"I was trying to be positive for once!" He sighed then lowered his voice and said. "Look, you said you wanted to help without doing anything illegal. So here, we found a way and if you don't want to-"
"No! No! No! I do want to help! I would love to help!"
James smiled. "Good, so every full moon, we'll be in the Common Room around 5 or 6. See you then." He was about to walk off but I grabbed his arm.
"James, look, I'm not the best at healing cuts and-"
"Tell that to Remus. He thinks otherwise."
I stayed quiet for a moment. "And also, is it just his face that has cuts and blood and scars and all that...?"
James grinned suddenly. "No, Moony's not going to strip for you."
I stared at him. "That's not want I meant! I meant-" He laughed and ran off. "James!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Why is she always sleeping?"
"Probably because she's tired Padfoot!" Someone, once again pulled a blanket over me.
"I'm tired! Ooh can we use that thing we got from Zonko's to wake her up?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please Moony?"
"No."
"Please please please!!"
"No!"
"Too bad its right here." Someone groaned.
"Padfoot-"
"She's going to love this." Something was placed on my back, it was quite large and hairy.
"Sirius-"
"Shush." The thing started to move its eight legs. It moved up my back and to my head, slowly going to my face. I sighed tiredly and moved around. I opened my eyes slowly and saw a large, hairy spider on my face. I screamed and shot straight up.
"Spider!" I screamed and swung my arm around, in attempt to get the spider off my face. But instead I had accidentally hit someone in the face.
"Ow! Bloody hell!" Sirius groaned and held onto his face. I turned to him quickly.
"Oh my Merlin I am so sorry!" My eyes widened and I glared at him. "Wait! No! I am not sorry! You! You put that bloody spider on me!"
"I know but you weren't meant to slap me! Bloody hell! You do know it's not-"
"Yeah well you deserved it!" I looked down and saw the spider on my arm. I stood up and started shaking my arm. "Get it off! Get it off!" Remus stood up.
"Okay, hang on stop." He grabbed my arm and took the spider off.
"Thank you! See at least Remus is nice! You two didn't do anything!" I pointed to James and Peter, who put their hands up in surrender.
"The spider's not real you know that?" James stated. I sighed with annoyance.
"I don't care! Now get that spider away from me!"
"See Sirius? I would tell you 'told you so' but Isabel's doing that for me." Remus stated. Sirius pouted at him. I looked at Remus and my eyes widened.
"Right, scars, blood, cuts." I grabbed the first-aid kit and he sat down on the table in front of me.
"Are you sure you're okay to do this?" Remus asked.
I nodded. "Yeah, I don't mind. At least I'm helping you, right?"
"Yeah." He smiled softly as I started to clean his wounds.
"Though I have one condition." They looked up at me.
"And that is?"
"Don't ever wake me up by using a spider again."
