1. Introduction
The smell of smoke was roaming around the room. I squinted my eyes as I felt a slight of tear in it. The room was utterly dark. I barely see anything. I slowly opened the door, peeking my head inside.
"Mum?" I called. There was no answer. I covered my nose with the collar of my shirt as I stepped inside the room. The curtains were closed tightly, unable to give the light an access to the room.
As I walked inside, I felt something under my feet. I looked down and saw a doll. I grabbed the door only to see it was a voodoo doll. I quickly threw it away from me and covered my mouth to avoid noises coming out of it.
I fished out my phone from my pocket and turned on the flashlight. Every single thing I saw in the room were sending chills down my spine. I saw voodoo dolls were on the shelves with needles on them. I saw a crystal ball were placed in the centre of the room. I saw all different kinds of coloured liquids on the shelf across the bed.
"No wonder dad left her." I whispered to myself.
All of a sudden a hand was placed on my shouder, causing me to jump in shock. I turned around and saw my mum, smilling at me. "Eunhee, how long have you been in here?" She asked. "Uhh... not that long, I guess." I answered.

I was in the living room with my mum as she served me a cup of tea and cookies. "Did your dad said anything before he left you here?" Mum questioned, sitting across me.
I sipped my tea before shaking my head. "No," I murmured, putting the cup back on the coffee table. "Are you still into this.. black magic thing?" I raised an eyebrow. She stared at me for quite a while before pressing her lips into a thin line.
She looked down before saying, "There is nothing wrong with doing black magic. Just look at it as a hobby of mine. You can learn it too. I can teach you and maybe you'll do black magic too."
"No thanks." I simply said. "Anyway, dad said that I will be staying here with you until he comes back from Australia." I continued to speak.
"When will he come back?" She asked.
"I don't know, mum. Maybe a few months," I said in a questioned tone. To be honest, I wasn't even sure when will he be back. He was sent to Australia for work but he didn't say when will he be back. Until then I have to live with my mother here in Gangnam.
My parents got divorced when I was 10 yeard old and frankly, I didn't mind at all. I knew it was the best for my mum and also myself. The reason why they got divorced has got to be my mum's obsession with black magic. It had gone out of hand and my dad told me it wasn't the best idea for me to live with my mum for awhile. But when he got a job offer in Australia, he decided to take the job. He did asked me if I wanted to come but I'd rather not. Flying is just not my thing.

I was resting my side on the door frame as my eyes scanned around the room, which happens to be mine. I smiled, remembering my childhood memories. Before my parents' divorce, I used to live here and this used to be my room.
I stepped inside, looking around the room. I smiled, knowing the room haven't changed a bit. The navy blue coloured carpet was still as soft as I could imagine. It felt like no one had stepped on it before.
The books on the shelf was filled with colourful books. It seemed like mum had dusted it before I came. It was absolutely clean and tidy. In fact, the whole room was.
"So, what do you think of your room?" I heard my mum at the door. I turned around and saw her also adoring the room. "It looks the same," I spoke. "You clean this room before I came?" Out of curiousity, I asked.
She nodded her head. "Actually, I had been cleaning this room for years just incase..." she looked down. "You ever come back."
I felt a sudden guilt going through me. Dad did offered me if I wanted to visit my mum but I said no, just because I was scared to live with her. "Mum, I-"
"That's ok. You're here now. You should get some rest. Besides, tomorrow is your first day of school!" She grinned before walking out my room, closing the door on her way out.
Huh.
