Detention: Chap 8 part 1
Jack's POV
I was so cold. The night had a bitter coldness to it. I have never been affected by the cold this way. I squinted my eyes to see through the darkness. The moonlight then showed a path. It landed on a girl curled up on the ice. Elsa. I took a step forwards and the ice cracked. I tried to shout to her but I was mute. I took another step and the crack grew larger and closer towards Elsa. The dark creatures I saw in the woods approached her. No! I tried to yell but no sound came out of my mouth. I tried to take another step but the ice cracked underneath my feet and I fell in. The cold was unbearable. It clung to my skin and froze me in place. I was sinking, sinking to the bottom. I looked up and saw Elsa through the ice. I tried to move but I was frozen, I could only watch. The creatures moved closer and she just stayed there with ice tears pouring down her face. Then she screamed. It echoed in my ears. The creatures attacked and I screamed her name making water fill my lungs. It burned. I looked up at the moon.
Elsa!
I was shook abruptly and was now facing Rapunzel. What a horrible dream I thought to myself. Punzies hair was glowing and she had her hair wrapped around my arm. I smiled at her "Thank you." I whispered to her. She nodded her head and continued singing.
"Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine
Heal what has been hurt
Change the fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine
What once was mine."
My arm stopped hurting. I rubbed it and looked around. It was still dark outside but probably around midnight for the moon was high in the sky. Everyone was still sleeping soundlessly. I watched as Rapunzel wrapped her hair around Elsa's leg. She is going to have a lot of questions tomorrow. Punzie sang the song once again. When she was finished she pulled back her hair to reveal Elsa's knee which was now fully healed. Punzie's power comes in handy sometimes.
She stood up and walked back over to Eugene who had a huge drool coming down his face. Rapunzel had waited until everyone was asleep before she healed me. I'm kinda glad she woke me up. I shuddered at the memory of my nightmare. I looked down at Elsa once again she had a frown on her face and was twitching from a nightmare. I tapped her shoulder. She gasped and looked at me. "Jack?" I smiled at her in the darkness. Then a twig snapped.
Our heads snapped in the direction it came from. Elsa and I were thinking the same thing. More of those creatures. She huddled closer to me. I could feel her warm body pressed up against mine. I blushed and focused on the sound again. A glowing light appeared in the distance. It was blue unlike anything I have seen. Merida sat up from her sleep. Making Hiccup untangle from her. "The wisps!" I looked at her confused. She bolted up and was about to follow them but Punzie grabbed her arm. "Don't be stupid. It's not safe out there." Merida glared at Punzie and shook of her arm. She walked out of the protection circle and ran towards the blue light. What is she doing? I started to stand up but remembered Elsa. She had fallen asleep once again. I lifted her head and laid her down on the ground before shaking Hiccup awake. "Hmm?" he mumbled while rubbing his eyes. "Your girlfriends gone crazy." he glared at me "She's not my girlfriend." He stood up and we both chased after her.
The redhead came into view she wasn't running anymore. The light was no longer blue it was normal fire colors and standing behind it was North. Oh no. "Jack, Hiccup, get the others." All I could do was nod. We are in big trouble not just from the school but North was like a father. I was not getting out of this no matter how many excuses I came up with.
Hiccup and I walked in silence until he spoke up "Well we're screwed." "You said it." We walked back to the group. Rapunzel bounced up when she saw us. "What happened?" she asked with a look of concern. "Get everybody up. We're going back to the school." "Oh no." she gasped "We're in big trouble!" Punzie looked around nervously. She grabbed fistfuls of hair in both of her hands. She looked at me. I walked over to Elsa and shook her awake. She rubbed her eyes "What's going on?" she asked her voice still full of exhaustion. "You need to get up... we've been caught." Her eyes widened. I held a hand out to help her up. She took it. Her hand fit perfectly in mine... not that I cared or anything. But she didn't let go. Hiccup got Anna and Kristoff awake and Punzie, After huge amount of effort got Eugene awake.
We all walked back towards where Merida and North were, Hiccup leading the way. No one said a word. I wonder what our punishment is going to be. North eyes locked with mine when we approached, he did not look amused. I cast my eyes down. "You're all in deep trouble. You've gotten everyone worried sick. Lets go." He turned and walked back towards the castle. Everyone had their head cast down and no one said a word.
It was still nighttime when we arrived which made me happy because I really didn't want to deal with people staring. We walked down the hall and I saw the headmistress standing with her hands behind her back. She glared at all of us. I squeezed Elsa's hand lightly before letting go. She looked at me and then cast her eyes downward.
"Your actions will not go unpunished. Each of you will spend your day off in detention. How could you guys be so reckless, putting yourselves in danger? You could of been killed! I'm disappointed in all of you, especially you Elsa. I expected more from you." Elsa looked down at the floor. What did Elsa do wrong? She just wanted to have fun! "Now off to your rooms. You still have 4 hours of sleep before your detention starts. I want all of you in my classroom at 7. You will be in there all day to think about what you did." Everyone walked away to their rooms but North stopped me.
"Jack what were you thinking?! You know that there are bad creatures in that forest, creatures that can kill you." I looked up at his disappointed expression "But they didn't... I stopped them." His expression changed to confusion. I stepped back in realization "I didn't say anything..." "Yes you did Jack, don't lie to me." I looked down "Something tried to attack Elsa but I stopped them." He grabbed my shoulder a little too hard. "What attacked her Jack?" he asked in a demanding tone. "I-I don't know! They were big and dark and scary! I have never seen anything like it in my whole life!" He stared at me. He still had a hold of my arm and he had no intention of letting go anytime soon. "Elsa's safety is important! She can't go prancing around in the forbidden forest. You need to stay away from her Jack, You're a bad influence and she's always getting hurt when you're around." I was speechless. "Why does Elsa have to be protected?" He stayed silent. I ripped his hand off my shoulder "Answer my question." I demanded glaring at him with all my might. "Go and get some rest. You have a long day of sitting in detention." He turned and walked away. Wow great subject change! I mentally shouted at him. I gave up trying to get the answer and walked to the house.
Eugene was sitting on the couch with Punzie under his arm. He looked up after I clicked the door shut. "Jack, you need to tell us what happened tonight." I ignored him and went straight into the boys room and crawled into my bed. I'm done with people asking me questions about what happened. I JUST WANT TO FORGET ABOUT IT! But everyone keeps bringing it up. I fell asleep but only more nightmares came.
I was chained down. But when I looked down no chains were present. I couldn't move. "Hahaha. You can't save her Jack." I was confused "I can't save who?!" I shouted into the darkness. "Elsa." My heart ached "You will be the cause of her death." A light finally appeared. It was a spotlight and it was pointed at a slim curvy figure. I waited for my eyes to adjust and the figure became clear. "Elsa!" I shouted. "Jack, I'm scared!" She raised her arms towards me asking me to come over to her. I tried moving but I couldn't. "Feel useless yet Jack?" it asked again laughing in the darkness. I turned my head again to face Elsa. She was surrounded by those creatures again. "Elsa!" she looked at me scared. I tried to struggled free but it was no use. "Jack! Help me!" her scream filled my ears. "NO!" I shouted.
I sat up in my bed, my breath heavy. I was drenched in sweat. I ran my hands through my hair and pulled off my shirt to help me cool off. My breath was finally even but my heart was still racing. Why do I keep having nightmares about Elsa dying? What did that thing mean by that I can't save her? Ugh Jack it's just a dream. I looked out the window to see that the sun still hadn't come up. I looked at the clock. I have only been asleep an hour. I laid back down but this time no sleep came.
~
I watched the sun come up from my window view. I looked at the clock for the millionth time tonight. I still had an hour to wait but I decided to get up and go for a run like I always do. I put on a pair of shorts and a muscle shirt.
I walked out into the courtyard but Elsa wasn't there. Which is for the best, North told me to stay away from her. After all night thinking about what he said he was right, every time she's with me she gets hurt somehow. I didn't want it to be true but it was. I wasn't going to wait for her. I put in my earphones and went on the route Elsa and I always take.
I tried to focus on things other then Elsa. Breath in Breath out. One foot in front of the other. But everything always came back to her. How she smiled, How she laughed, How she walked, how she felt, her eyes, her sarcasm, how her hair flies in the wind when she runs with me. She was just stuck in my mind but now it was time to forget it. I had no chance with her. She's the only freaking girl in this entire school that I don't have a chance with and of course she's the one I want. I made it back to the courtyard with plenty of time to spare. When I got there I saw Elsa stretching. She looked exhausted.
"Good morning." I said as I approached her. Just because I have to stay away from her doesn't mean I can't be nice to her. She looked up at me and then went back to her stretches like I hadn't even said a word. I just shook it off and walked back towards the school. "Jack?" I turned around "Yeah?" I asked "Have you had any nightmares recently?" wait had she had them too? I nodded my head. "What were they about?" she asked sitting in the edge of a fountain. I walked back over to her and took a seat on the left side of her. "It was about you and those creatures." she nodded "Mine was too. I tried to get to you but I was frozen. All I could do was let those things attack me. What do you think it means? Us having the same dream and all." It's weird that we are having the same dream but It doesn't mean it means anything. She looked at me for an answer. "We might have to talk to someone about it." I said. She nodded her head and looked at my watch. "We have to go to detention soon. I'm going to change. There's no point in me running." I nodded and followed her into the school. North saw us walking together and scolded me with a look. "I'll see you later." I said to her before walking towards North.
"I told you to stay away from her, No?" I nodded "I know I know but I have something to tell you." He crossed his arms and waited for me to continue "Elsa and I are having the same dreams." his eyes widened. "What do you mean, Same dreams?" I sighed "It's like we are both having the same dream just from different views." "What was the dream about." I looked at the ground before looking up again. "There was a voice who told me that I couldn't save her, that I was going to cause her death. Then I saw Elsa surrounded by those creatures and I couldn't move or do anything. Elsa had a dream about how she was frozen in place and couldn't defend herself against the creatures." North rubbed his beard in thought. "I'm going to talk to the headmistress about this. You should change." I nodded my head and ran to the Slytherin house to change my clothes.
Eugene was waiting there with Rapunzel. They were wearing normal clothes "Hurry up Jack!" yelled Punzie. I rushed inside the boys room trying not to wake anyone up. I slipped on a blue hoodie and Brown pants. I walked out and saw that they had already left. Ugh! I looked at the clock. Detention starts in 2 minutes. I burst out the door and started to climb the stairs. It's going to take me forever. "WIND!" Oh well might as well not be late. I flew all the way up to the Headmistress' classroom and opened the door and quickly took a seat. "That's was a close one Frost." said the headmistress from her desk. "Detention starts now." Everyone was spread out. Hiccup and Merida were close to each other, Punzie and Eugene were too and so was Anna and Kristoff. Where is Ariel and Eric? They probably got away with it since they must of gone back early.
I looked around the class and spotted Elsa. She was drawing something in her book but she was to far away for me to see. I wonder what's she's drawing. The room was quiet which I did not like. Bang Bang Bang! The knock at the door startled me. I watched as the headmistress opened the door. They mumbled something and she turned to face us "There's an emergency, But I will be back. Professor Sleepy will watch over you until I return." Professor Sleepy took a seat as the headmistress shut the door. I saw Eugene pulled out his wand from the corner of my eye. This is going to be good.
Eugene mumbled something under his breath and the magic spell he chose hit the teacher making him fall asleep. I thought he was going to do something better but this works. Punzie giggled and everyone stood up changing their seats so we were all in a square facing each other. "This blows." said Merida "Well it was your idea to go into the forest." said Kristoff. "Yeah but ye couldn't come up with any better ideas." Merida spit back. "Beside it was still fun!" Punzie interjected "For you guys!" I shot at her. She looked at her desk in embarrassment. Elsa looked at me. I guess I shouldn't of used such a cold tone. "What happened out there?" asked Anna. I looked at Elsa and she nodded for me to tell them.
"I found Elsa surrounded by these big black creatures with gold glowing eyes. They had sharp teeth and they were really creepy..." I paused for a moment and swallowed "I didn't want to reveal something's so I climbed some trees to get to Elsa's backpack because I knew she had her defense against the dark art textbook. A book of spells..." Everyone but Elsa and Anna knew what I was trying to hide so the others got it but Elsa gave me a confused look. I cleared my throat. "I fell from the tree and onto my arm. I got to her backpack as the creature turned it's focus on me. I used the Expelling curse and it's insides poured out... It was disgusting believe me. I did the same thing to the one still circling Elsa and we ran back to you guys." "That must of been scary." said Punzie. "Well at least we made it back." said Elsa quietly. She was still drawing whatever it was. I looked over to get a better view but she covered it up with her arm.
"Now what was with you a blue lights that got us caught." I said pointing at Merida. She looked down "There's a legend that the wisps lead ye to yer fate. My mother always told me about them when I was a wee child. I have always wanted to follow them so I did last night. It lead me straight to North. Straight back to the safety of the castle." I was speechless. She has told us before, what the wisps do but I have never seen them until last night. They really do exist. "So you didn't care that you were in the forbidden forest? You just followed them. What would happen if they lead you to your fate. You would probably be dead." said Kristoff raising his eyebrow.
Merida just stayed quiet. "Well what are we going to do in here all day?" asked Eugene obviously already bored. "Well it depends on how long the headmistress is gone. We can do what ever we want until she gets back." Said Hiccup. I got an idea. I grinned and everyone looked to me. "She just has to stay busy then." Eugene smiled too finally getting out of his boredom. "What are you thinking?" asked Kristoff. "The thing I do best, Pranking." All the girls except Merida rolled their eyes and stood up to move elsewhere in the room. They wanted no part in it. Though I don't know why they wouldn't. It was just the boys and Merida who were left to carry out the plan.
"So what are ye planning?" asked Merida leaning forward in anticipation. "Well the headmistress only goes to the big things so we need to create big events all over the school. She will start searching for whoever did it. But we will always have to be back here after we pull a stunt because she will check on us expecting me behind it because I'm usually the only one to pull things off. So as long as we are back here before she is we're safe." they nodded. "Okay I'm thinking we release pixies, make flying books, explode toilets, Millions of flying air planes, Lab explosions, Fireworks and I think it should rain the the great hall." I leaned back in my chair. "We are going to need more tricks then that to keep her busy." Said Kristoff. He was right. "Well we can also do little things." I said agreeing with him.
"Okay Merida you are going to let the pixies out. Hiccup I want you to set up fireworks all over the school. Eugene you are going to make it rain. I'm going to make books fly. We will go one at a time and make it back before any of us leaves again." they nodded "Who would like to go first?" I asked. Merida raised her hand. "My teacher is moving the Pixies today. I know where he is moving them!" she stood up and got ready to leave.
Merida's POV
I shoved all of my curly hair into my hood before leaving that classroom. I have no idea how I'm going to do this. Students were walking around the corridors doing whatever on their day off. Listening to their whispers the tale of our adventures had gotten around and everyone knew we were supposed to be in detention. Which was going to make my job all the more difficult. Not to mention that Professor Pitch is taking the pixies down to the dungeons.
I hid my face as I walked down the halls. People stared but thought it was normal and didn't pay that much attention to me. "Excuse me?" someone said tapping my shoulder. It sounded like a teacher. Oh crap, Oh crap. I spoke in the most American accent as I could "I'm just looking for someone." "Okay well take the hood off so you can see where your going." What do I do? "I'm okay, I can see just fine." "Alright, Have a good morning." I let out a sigh of relief and continued to walk, this time much faster.
I hid behind a wall and peaked over it. Pitch was just leaving his classroom with a cart full of pixies. Show time. I mumbled the sleeping incarnation under my breath and pointed my wand at Pitch. He slumped to the ground and I took the opportunity. I walked over making sure no one was watching. I opened the cage and the pixies screeched in their freedom. "What is that?!" someone yelled. I need to get out of here. I ran into Pitch's classroom because the teachers and other people were running down the hall. I looked around the classroom for anything to help me.
And then I saw it. A broom. I quickly grabbed it and opened the window. I hopped on the broom and flew back up to the detention classroom. I tapped on the glass and Jack's head shot up and booked it to opened it for me. I flew in and hid the broom in the closet in the back. I took off my hood and sat in the seat I started in. "Did you do it?" asked Hiccup. I nodded and we all waited to see what would happen. Pixie screams filled the air and I couldn't help but giggle. Hiccup looked at me. "Good job." he whispered. I smiled at him. Minutes passed and the headmistress didn't return but Pixie screams were everywhere. "Who's next?" I asked.
Eugene's POV
My first job is probably the easiest. I took the broom Merida brought back and I flew towards the Great Halls window. I melted the glass to form a hole for my wand to go through. I pointed the wand at the ceiling "Meteolojinx Recanto" Rain started to pour from the ceiling making the people below scream and scramble out of the Great Hall. I chuckled to myself before returning to detention.
I tapped on the glass and Merida let me in. I placed the broom back in the closet and sat down next to Punzie. The headmistress burst through the door and I put my poker face pretending to be bored. She looked around to make sure everyone was present before walking over to wake up Professor Sleepy. "How could you sleep on the job!? There's a prankster thinking he's super funny!" she looked back at us "At least you guys are behaving." she walked out of the room slamming the door behind her. The professor looked around the room before I waved my wand putting him to sleep once again. "Well that was fun!" I said
Hiccup's POV
"I don't think I can pull this off..." I said nervously. "It's easy you just have to get the fireworks from me brothers and place them around the school. You don't have to set them off." I looked at Merida "How many are there?" I asked "Tons." was all she said before leaning back in her chair. "You guys are crazy!" said Punzie. "Here goes nothing." I walked up to the door and opened it. I would go through the window but brooms are not dragons.
I was wearing Merida's hoodie to help hide my face. It smelled like her. I don't think I could ever take this off again. I breathed in deeply and knocked on the Gryffindor house. Somebody opened it for me and I walked towards the triplets. They were sitting in the corner playing cards with each other. One of then looked up when I approached. "What do ye want?" One of them asked "I'm here to get something for Merida." all the boys were looking at me now. "Your here to get the fireworks." I nodded trying not to draw to much attention to myself. "You are going to have to trade us something to get them." You have got to be kidding me. I had to think about it for a few moments before I came up with the perfect bait. "How about I give each of you a ride on my dragon." I offered. They looked at me all nodding their heads before handing me a huge bag. Obviously full of fireworks. This is going to take a lot of work. I better get started.
Jack's POV
I started biting on my nails because Hiccup hadn't returned. "He should be back by now." Said Punzie looking worried. "As long as the headmistress doesn't come back I think we will be fine." said Eugene. I kept getting a bad feeling in my stomach. We would get into even more trouble if she found out we have been pulling all of the pranks. "We need something to distract her while Hiccup is busy." I said. I know I was the one who came up with the rule that one person had to go at a time but right now I think that rule can be revoked. "But that increases the chance of you getting caught." I raised an eyebrow at Eugene. "Or Hiccup doesn't return early enough and the headmistress decides to pay us a warming visit." I stood up from my chair and was about to leave but the door burst open.
Standing there was Hiccup.... and the headmistress.
