3. Your Name?

Today, much to my surprise the time went considerably fast. Before I knew it, it was time for my lunch break.

I couldn't shake the fact that I was feeling giddy to go to the coffee shop. Why was I feeling giddy? For someone I barely know? Hoping that I would see him again. The nameless guy who I keep running into.

There was a possibility that I wouldn't see him, maybe it was a coincidence seeing him, and maybe that was it. This thought I didn't want in my head, so I try my best to take it away from me.

As I make my way to the bathroom to freshen up before leaving, I take a quick glance in the mirror. For the first time in a while, I wasn't drained. The dark circles under my eyes were calm and not stark, staring at me.

I salivate at the thought of the hot aroma of coffee, with that in mind I eject from the bathroom and pull my feet to take me to the coffee shop.

Surprisingly, today was also a warm day compared to the other days. There was a slight humid feeling in the air, it was enough for me not to shudder all the way to the shop.

Swinging my hands back and forth, I stride over to the front of the shop. Before entering, my eyes explore the inside, my bottom teeth sink into the top lip. Shrugging my shoulders, with no sight of him, I walk in, just as the door closes behind me, a presence is felt of someone opening it up again.

"It's my turn to pay for the drinks." The familiar voice calls from behind.

My shoulders relax and I can't help but curl my lips excitedly in a smile. Turning around, I see him again, my stomach feels like it has welcomed a fairy that's floating around.

"If you insist." I reply keeping my cool. Moving slightly back, I wave my arms for him to go past and order our coffees.

As he walks past, his eyes don't leave my face. His piercing eyes stab me, but in a welcoming way, at the same time his mischievous smirk turns in to a dreamy chuckle.

Our coffee drinks were ready, we grabbed them and left the shop in unison. The dread of him just leaving again was waiting in me, any second, he would brush me off like he doesn't know me.

Taking a quick look at the time, I still had fifteen minutes left, in these fifteen minutes I wanted to spend it with him, but did he want the same?

"So, where do you work?" He asks as he takes a sip of his coffee.

With my work far in sight, I nod over to the building I enter five days a week. He abruptly stops, with his widened eyes and mouth hanging open.

"You work in the courts?" He exclaims as he points towards the building.

I chuckle at his surprised reaction. "Yes, I do, but I work behind the scenes in the office."

"Who cares! That is cool, working in the courts, you've got yourself a right little job there haven't you?" His brows lift as he gazes at me whilst taking another sip.

I feel a warm temperature rise in my face, hoping that I wasn't visibly turning red like a tomato.

"And what about you? Where do you work?" I ponder starting my tracks in a slow walk.

"Me? I work at the bank down the road." He points in a direction straight ahead.

I turn my head to see where he was pointing, the direction followed the road where my work place was situated.

"You work on the same road as me?! How come I have never seen you before." I blurt out in a confused manner. Before I knew it, I had already exaggerated at my surprised manner, gosh I must have sounded like an idiot, I thought to myself.

"I just started working at the bank, my first day was Monday." He calmly responds not reacting at my surprised tone.

"That makes sense! No wonder I have never seen you before." I laughed.

For a moment, we laugh in unison and look at each other. For a few seconds it felt like the world around me slowed down, and we were the only ones. This cheeky guy had melted, showing a calm guy who knows how to have a laugh.

We both snap out, fumbled at each other, we continue to walk straight ahead. The short walk back towards my work place was held in silence. My brain wasn't allowing me to form words to speak to him.

First, I had many things to say to him, now all the words and sentences escaped from my brain. We arrive outside the courts. Nervously, I look everywhere but at his face, I felt like if I looked at him again the world around me would stop. This was a new feeling and I didn't know why this was occurring within me.

"This is my stop. I'll... see you around I guess." I let out in a whisper. Slowly, I make my way to the doors, cringing at my actions.

"Your name?" He shouts from behind.

I quickly turn on my heels, facing him, a simple question and I couldn't comprehend the meaning of it.

"What?" Escaped my mouth.

"What's your name?" He asked again, laughing, shaking his head towards me.

"Alina, yours?" I respond from afar as the distance between us was making me call out in a loud tone.

"Jayden."

Jayden, I repeat in my head. Finally, a name to the familiar face I anticipate on meeting every lunch break.

I shoot Jayden a warm smile and calmly wave, as I was about to enter my work place, he once again calls out from behind.

"So, I'll see you tomorrow at one?"

"Yes, you will." I shout back without turning my head.

My stomach flips over and over at the excitement of seeing Jayden tomorrow. This was different as I knew I would see him. I've seen him three days in a row and he has some kind of hold over me.

Roll on the lunch break for tomorrow.
