I woke up to the feeling of someone shaking me. I open my eyes only to see Sofia on my bed. "What the hell, chiquita." I exclaim pushing her away from me.

I sit up and let out a groan and got out of bed and went into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and showered and started to get ready. I wore:

I got my keys, my phone, and my bag. Me and Sofia walked out seeing Schneider riding his stationary bike. We look at him and laugh. "He's still using that thing?" I whisper to Sofia and we chuckle.

"Schneider, we're leaving!" Sofia screams and we head over to the Alvarez apartment.

"Buenos días familia." I walk into the apartment taking the key out of the door as Sofia walks in behind me. I walk over to Alex and hug him from behind and he smiles.

"Hi mariposa. Maybe you can teach Alex how to take the trash out of the apartment." Penelope says waving around the trash bag. "Why would I do that?" I ask suspiciously. "Yeah, Val maybe, you should show me, for next time." Alex smiles.

"Maybe Pen, can take your PS4 to goodwill." I squish his face and he looks at me with a "are you serious right now" look.

Penelope walks out of the kitchen and yells "Elena! Man, you guys are moving slower than phosphorous through biomass! Yes." She says the last part lowering her voice turning to Lydia.

Me and Alex walk out of the kitchen and I sit down next to Sofia at the table. Alex stands in front of Penelope and says "Mami. Did you make the appointment to get my braces off? You said you'd do it two weeks ago."

"Just eat a lot of taffy, they'll come off on their own." Penelope replied. "Mom, please." "All right, all right. Let me put it on the to-do list." Penelope lifts up her sleeve and adds to the black writing on her arm. Alex gives her a weird look and walks back into the kitchen.

"Why is your- you know what? Never mind." Elena walks out of her room into the living room. "Mom, after school can you drive me to march with the Lesbians Against Fracking?"

"I'm sorry, baby, there's no way. There's no way that's a real thing." "Queer women don't like our tap water catching fire anymore than anyone else does. It really matters!" "I know, baby, but so did the Women's March, the Immigration March, the Science March..." Penelope trails off.

"Elena, listen to Penelope. This is march madness!" I exclaim. "I did like the Women's March. I looked very nice in that pink pussycat hat." Lydia smiles. I basically choke on my own saliva and Sofia hits my back.

Alex comes out of the of the kitchen and sits down next to me with a bowl of fruit. I took a strawberry and ate it and Alex looks at me angry. "Val!" He yells and I laugh at him. Schneider walks through the front door in his spinning outfit.

"Hey, guys." He closes the door and walks in standing near the couch. We all stare at him. "Schneider please knock... my eyes are what the hell are you wearing?" Penelope asked looking away.

"Oh, this? It's my new work uniform." Schneider places his hands on his hips. "You're hired." Lydia says somewhat seductively twirling her necklace. I faked gag at her response. "Oh, Lydia, I was actually inspired by you teaching dance to become and educator myself. I started teaching spinning." Schneider smiles.

"Isn't spinning riding a stationary bike? Why are you wearing a helmet?" Elena asked laughing. "He may have fallen off a few times." Sofia laughs. "Yeah it was hilarious." I add. Schneider stands by the table and says "It wasn't that funny!"

"Yes, it was." Sofia says still laughing. "Hey, Pen. Can you set these flyers up for me on campus?" Schneider asked walking over to Penelope holding out the flyers(idek how you spell that). "Oh! Are you too busy?" Penelope asks standing up from her spot on the couch.

"Slammed." Schneider sits on the arm of the chair. "I barely have enough time to meditate before my sunset hike." He adds. "He forces us to go with him." I roll my eyes.

Penelope lifts up her sleeve again adding to her "to-do list." "Murder Schneider." She says while writing. "Come on guys, let's go!" Penelope yells walking towards the door."Wait, I don't have my lunch." Alex mentioned. "That's funny neither do we." I say walking over to Schneider holding my hand out in front of him.

"Your wallet is right there, Val." He points at my wallet that's in my hand. I groan and say "It was worth a try." I pick up my backpack and I hear Alex say "Why does she get 10 bucks, and I get five?" "Take out the freakin trash, papito." I said pushing him out the door.

𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥ఌ︎

I was sitting on the couch with Sofia, she was on her laptop doing a project for school and I was helping her. Lydia was teaching her dance class and Alex was on Lydia's room supposedly "playing the cello."

All of a sudden I hear Elena say "I'm playing on starting a GSA at school. A Gay-Straight Alliance." I noticed that Penelope was home and Alex walks out and said "Are you gay? I forgot because you haven't mentioned it in the past five minutes."

"Good one, papito." I said with a smile. Alex smiles back and high fives me. "Papito, trash, cello, then making fun of your sister." Penelope shoves the trash bag in Alex's hands.

I laugh and turn my attention back to Sofia's laptop. I then hear Penelope basically yelling. "Can everyone just get off my back and do what you're supposed to be doing?" "Jeez." We all respond.

"Chill, out." Lydia said putting her hand up. "Mom, why are you so uptight?" Asked Elena. "I'm sorry. But I work my sweet nalguitas off, and you guys should be, too! That's why I'm at the top of my class! Just being real with you!" She says rasing her voice.

"Cálmate niña." Lydia walks up to Penelope. "Calm down? Are you the same woman who broke out the chancleta while I was memorizing the states?" Penelope replied. "You hit Lupe, with your chancleta?" Sofia asked.

"Oh, please, I would never. It's just a learning tool it's all about the sound." Lydia hits her chancleta on the table. "Alabama, Alaska, Arizona! Okay, put that thing away! Everyone, go do your work so I can do mine. No interruptions."

I go back to helping Sofia, Alex starts to actually play the cello and Lydia brings the kids back out and starts her lesson again.

I was sitting the table with Alex and Lydia. Schneider comes through the door, walking in a weird way, with Sofia behind him. "Hey, do you guys have an ice pack?" Schneider said walking in front of the couch. "His junk is numb!" Sofia laughs hysterically.

"I'll get it!" Lydia yells running into the kitchen. Penelope help Schneider get on to the couch. "Hey, did you get your test score yet?" Schneider asked lowering himself down.

"Oh, yeah, it's after 5:00." Penelope runs letting go of Schneider's hand causing him to fall on the couch. Lydia gives Schneider the ice pack. Penelope slams the computer shut.

"Come on!" Penelope yells. "Dont tell me that you did so much better than the rest of your class that they are now cyberbullying you?" Lydia asked. "No, mami. I did bad. I did really bad." Penelope replied.

"You don't do bad. You're always killing it." Sofia said. "We know because you always sat 'I'm killing it!'" Alex added. "This is all my fault. You needed to do real studying, and I distracted you with my spinning and beautiful globes!" Schneider exclaimed.

"No, I did study. I tried and I still didn't do good." "Do 'well'. Sorry." Elena said covering her mouth. "Don't ruin this with your grammar." I said patting her shoulder. "It's just one test, mom. You'll do better next time." Alex gets up standing next to Penelope.

"That's the thing." Penelope said putting her past test papers on the table. Alex picked them up saying the grade out loud. "75, 68, 62..." "Mom, maybe you just need to study more." Elena suggested.

"No, that's not it. It's me. I can't do it." We all tried to encourage her to keep going, but she insisted on quitting. We all agreed with her and after Penelope went to sleep we made up a plan.

It was around 4AM I was wearing:

We got Penelope out of bed and walked her over to the table were we set up an area where she could study. I stood next to Alex as he put his arm around me and I played my head on his shoulder.

"What's this?" Penelope asked. "We decided, you're staying in school." Sofia said with a smile. "No, remember, I failed. I'm a quitter, it's fine." Penelope tried to walk away but we stopped her.

"Lupita, after you went to bed, none of us could sleep." Lydia said. "We realized we were being selfish." Elena said sitting down. "You didn't fail, Lupe, you just can't do it alone." I added.

"That's right! You know, you don't have to be super woman! There can only one such woman in a family, and that is me." Lydia smiles. "We're all going to pitch in and help you make your dream come true." Elena smiles putting her hand on Penelope's shoulder.

"All take out the trash, pack my own lunch..." Alex trails off. "And, me and Sofia will make sure he actually does those things." I smile and Alex looks down at me rasing an eyebrow.

"And I am going to skip the Queer Women March Against Nukes to help you. What's your preferred study method?" Elena asked. "Coffee and tears." Penelope replied bluntly. We all chuckle at her.

"Is this what you want?" Sofia asked. "Yes, it is." Penelope smiles. "You got this. And we got you." I put my hands on top of hers. "And I will be here for you, mi amor." Lydia picks up a spray bottle spraying Penelope in the face with it. We all laugh, and hear Schneider groan.

"Can you guys keep it down?" Schneider asked groaning. We see that he was sleeping on the couch. He looks at us and smiles and says "Hey, it's the scene from my snow globe." He shakes his hand like he was shaking a snow globe.

It was now Saturday morning, we stayed up with Lupe for a bit but I ended up falling asleep on the couch next to Schneider.
