personality
cassidy is a special case. now if you were to ask about her two, maybe one year ago, she'd be a way different story then she is today. let's go with the 'original cassidy' first, or in other words, vera. before she felt like she had lost a part of her, cassidy insisted on being referred to as vera, so well separate the two that way. vera was ruthless, she didn't give a fuck about anyone. all that mattered was herself. she was number one in her eyes and she'd be damned if she let anyone else change that. however, when she was loyal to someone, she was extremely loyal. she knew where her loyalties were and she made a point of showing it, whether that meant standing up for it or showcasing it in a dramatic way that only vera would. while she didn't have many friends to be loyal to, she was loyal to the gang and she would take a bullet for some of those people, well, she had taken a bullet for them before. moving on, vera was rude, she's mean and she doesn't give a fuck about it. vera was out of control, no one could control her, not the school and not her parents. she's her own person after all and she always believed that she should be free to do what she wanted, when she wanted it.
now that doesn't mean people haven't tried controlling her, they have, but that only resulted in her doing the opposite of what they want, to an extreme. you wanted her to stop vandalizing the lockers? well, too bad, she vandalized the whole front of the school. i mean, you got to give it to her, she's dedicated, maybe not in the right things (in society's eyes) but in her eyes, she saw her dedication was used for the right things, things shes' passionate about. speaking of, if you challenge vera to something, you best believe she won't stop until she accomplishes it, even if that means spending a night in jail, only to have her angry father's lawyer to show up and bail her out of jail. speaking of her parents, this is all probably their fault. their idea of perfect was too much to handle and she did the only reasonable thing in a teenager's eyes: rebelling against her parents. everything expected of her, she did the opposite. all those years of etiquette basically went down the drain as soon as she realized that the whole perfect thing was bullshit. vera would party until the sunrise and show up late to school the next day with shades on and her secret 'hangover concussion' just because she could. she was stubborn and an alpha female. vera had a fiery soul that if anyone tried to get too close, they would end up getting burnt.

now, cassidy, is very much a different story. after the miscarriage, the incident that night in the hospital when she heard the shocking news, it was like a switch flipped. yeah, she still drank and smoked afterwards. however this time, it wasn't because she was rebelling against her parents or just because she wanted to. this time around, she drank to numb the pain. she drank because that's the only way she knew how to numb the pain. otherwise, she would just be that girl that would sit in the corner staring in space with a blank and almost dead look in her eyes. after the incident, it felt as though she had lost a part of herself. she had lost apart of herself, even if she hadn't known she was pregnant at the time. she didn't talk much, she wasn't partying either. she just drank alone in her dorm room in that boarding school because she didn't have anything else. and while she hated the boarding school at first, it had soon become a safe haven once she decided to turn her life around. it was like something snapped within her again, where she realized she didn't want to be like this, so she checked herself into an AA meeting, just to test it out and from then on she continued attending. she's persistent now, especially when it comes to school and her health.
cassidy traded in her bottles of brandy and whiskey for books, books, and more books. she studied to improve her grades, her perseverance shining through again. cass became cassidy again. she worked hard, putting her all into things. she didn't go out anymore and preferred the comfort of her room to that of a strangers house where she would be drunk puking into the toilet. shes sweeter now, and while she still knows she's important and holds herself up there, she puts others first. she is more understanding, listening to her parents and principal or teachers, because she knows it's for the best. don't get her wrong, she isn't trying to achieve her parents definition because she knows she cant. she just trying to have it so her mistakes in the past don't haunt her future. she feels guilt and remorse now, actual guilt. which she realized when she came back for senior year and met BEAUTIFUL DISASTER, and she realized she was the girl that her boyfriend cheated on her with. she smiles, and shes kind. shell take a person under her wing if she has to, but she now prefers staying out of the public eye, away from all the attention.

brief backstory
drugs, alcohol — you name it, and she'd probably done it already. AND with double the recommended dosage. cassidy was born into a wealthy family. her father is a world-renowned heart surgeon, and her mother a world-renowned lawyer. she had been expected to be perfect the moment she was brought into the world, but perfect was never her specialty. whether it was the pressure of having to be 'perfect' or having to live up to her parents or something else, cassidy filled her world with drugs and alcohol. her world became consumed by it, especially after she happened to join the GANG LEADER'S gang. her world went pretty much downhill from there. constant arguments with her parents, sneaking out of the house, going to jail on more than one occasion — in which her parents had to bail her out. detention, detention, and more detention — oh, and forgot to mention, but suspicion too. but she'd never been expelled. she'd gotten close to it, but the school hasn't expelled her because of who her parents are and the fact that they fund a lot of things. in her sophomore year of high school, her parents had enough and sent her away to boarding school — hoping that that would help her fix her act. they'd been embarrassed enough by her dragged their family name in the dirt and they couldn't handle it anymore. the boarding school was far, far away from 'home'. it was in south carolina, in a small yet prestigious town. before leaving there was a party thrown and one drunken mistake led to another and she slept with the CHAOTIC MESS.
after that, she left and started her new life at the boarding school. it was hard at first having to admit, though she ended up making that school her bitch as well. until one day, she was rushed to the hospital. a miscarriage they said. but she didn't even know she was pregnant. only her parents and the dean of the board school knew, no one else did. after that, her life spiraled. it was her junior year and she was drinking to numb the pain. until she had finally stopped. she was the reason her baby had died, and she was gonna change her ways. fast forward to the start of senior year, she was coming back home as the new and improved cassidy vera lowell. unrecognizable, that's what she was. a whole new person. she had been sober for a year at that point, but after being away for two whole years, she had lost her friends. that didn't matter as much to her. she focused on school work and her health, that was pretty much it. no parties, no alcohol, and no drugs. her parents were different too, much more caring she'd say. and while it was a nice change, she still felt hollow in inside from the past
