Jimin's POV
I enter in the cafeteria spotting Jungkook by the food line. I raise my hand waving at him. "Bring some oreo's when you get here!" I say aloud catching a few eyes and ears attention.
I head over to our table taking a seat, I bring out my phone going through some of my emails searching for universities I applied to. I hear a little cough and look up.
A girl with pigtails stands in front of me holding a bright pink card and a dashing smile. She's confessing..
I put my phone away and nod my head giving her permission to speak. She opens her mouth but stops when she see's Jungkook. He sits next to me with a lot of junk food on the tray. He eyes her down and looks away muffling his laugh.
"Uh Park Jimin, my name is Jennie and I-"
Her voice trembles and it's so squeaky and high. I stop her shaking my head. "Jennie, I'm sorry but I have to reject. I'm not looking for anything like that, but thank you," her face is flushed and she nods her head hiding her sadness with a smile wanting to run away. "Wait," I stop her. "I'll take the card though,"
I hold out my hand and she gasps hiding her smile, she hands the card over and smiles. She jumps away, giggling.
Jungkook turns to me with a straight face grabbing the card away from me. "Why are you leading her on if you aren't even looking for a relationship?" He asks ripping the card reading what she wrote. "This is so cute but unfortunately she's going to get rejected, like all the other girls who tried," he throws the card on the table shaking his head.
I take a packet of oreo's opening it, I pour them all on the tray and take one eating. Jungkook's right, I have been getting fan mail from my admires and even girls willingly giving themselves to me.
"I already have my focus on someone else," I answer him and lay back. By luck she walks in the cafeteria with him.
She holds her head high and struts.
"No," Jungkook suddenly says. "Not Yoona," he says, I look at him and he's starring at her. "Look dude, I like Yoona and she's cool and stuff but she's already taken. Hoseok has her,"
His sentence makes me shake my head.
"Don't do it man," He pleads but stuffs his mouth with food. Hoseok comes to the table giving us high fives.
"Hello~"
"Yerpp," Jungkook and I both say before laughing. Hoseok shakes his head but laughs along.
"Yho J-hope, I've been meaning to ask you how's Yoona?" Jungkook asks bluntly. Hoseok looks at me and I just shrug my shoulders.
"Why you ask?"
"Just wanna know," Jungkook says glancing at me before sharply looking away.
Hoseok takes some oreo's and answers. "She's fine as always,"
I nod my head directing my eyes to Yoona's table.. I see Seolhyun enter and turbidly she slips and rapidly falls down, uttering out a sharp piercing scream. Jungkook and I quickly stand while Hoseok bursts out laughing causing a few others to laugh.
I rush to the front spotting Yoona holding a bottle of milk getting close to her. She wouldn't, would she?
Choa rushes and bends down helping Seolhyun up. The floor looks slippery causing both Seolhyun and Choa to fall down getting a little more laughs from the crowd gathered.
Yoona stands with a naughty smirk on her face. "They say karma's a bitch but I wouldn't know," she laughs.
"Yoona don't." I say firmly trying to get close. Yoona shrugs her shoulders and tips the bottle over letting out the damp creamed milk fall over Seolhyun.
Choa quickly removes her blazer shielding Seolhyun. Yoona pours the milk now on Choa and both Choa and Seolhyun scream out. I shake my head going to Yoona and grabbing the bottle from her throwing it away.
"Really? Was that necessary?" I ask, quickly picking up Seolhyun bridal style, she covers her face. Dashing out the cafeteria with Choa hot on my heels, I pass by the little crowd who's videoing.
People in the corridor heading to the cafeteria move away making way as I hurriedly exit the school grounds going behind some trees to my secret spot.
I let down Seolhyun on the bench shaking my head. And just like that, everything comes out. She cries out loud and hiccups along the way, Choa comes to her side hugging her tight. "Don't cry mammy," she says and holds Seolhyun tightly.
I stand by the side ruffling my hair a bit. Seolhyun stands up and before I know it, my face swings to the other side as her hot fingers slap me. She huffs angrily and pushes me back. "Is that who you want!?"
She questions hitting me again. "Look at what she did to me!? Look!"
I look at her tears along with the milk steaming her face. "I can't even.." She lays her head on my shoulder and cries putting her arms around my shoulder. I don't hold her back, it's the wrong thing to do at this stage.
"Well," I push her slightly trying to fix her hair. I stroke my fingers down her tangled hair tying it up nicely. "You have to get back up when it knocks you down,"
She slaps my hand away looking mad. "Jimin you are crazy if you think I'll go out looking like this!"
"Yeah that's social suicide!" Choa says from the bench. I forgot that she was also poured with milk. They both look really bad..
"If Yoona got through the day then so can you-"
"Of course you'd still pick her after what she's done. Just! Whatever!" She huffs and looks around. "Where are we? I've never been here before?" She questions and looks around.
Choa shivers and looks around as well. I remove my blazer putting it around her. "Fine. You guys can stay here until you feel like finally getting over social suicide whatever,"
I shake my head heading out through the leafs ignoring whatever they are saying. I walk along the corridor of the school heading for the cafeteria. I see Seolhyun wasn't the only one with revenge on her mind. To be honest I am disappointed in Yoona, which is way I need to act fast.
I enter the cafeteria pushing the door open, I ignore the eyes and voices that talk about me and probably what happened a few minutes ago. I head to Yoona's table, the bangs haired girl spots me and madly blushes. From here I can hear So-hye arguing with Yoona.
I get to their table and it becomes silent. I stand behind Yoona, she has her head down. "Yoona. The principal is looking for you," I say.
"You see!" Both Kai and So-hye both say out loud.
"Yoona you honestly have to stop! Whatever foolish thing your doing has to stop! You are ruining yourself," So-hye says shaking her head.
Yoona stands and grabs her bag leaving. I watch her as she exits the cafeteria and turn back to So-hye. She has her hands on her face. I've never seen her this mad before. "Hey So-hye, don't worry about it too much. She's going through a lot,"
So-hye shakes her head and Kai puts his arm around her smiling lightly at me. I make my way out looking at my table before I leave. They are all their engaged in a hot topic probably by what Yoona did, in fact the whole place is in a buzz talking above each other.
I spot Yoona with her head down gripping on her bag. I stand in front of her and she's ready to start walking away but I hold her shoulder.
"The principal's not really calling you,"
She looks up immediately and bites her lip saying nothing. Her eyes are stony but her hard exterior is gone. She sighs, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean..for that to..gosh why me," she digs her face in her hands.
I slowly slip her hands away holding onto them. "Let's go somewhere," I say softly pulling her towards me. Her eyes are big but her voice comes out timid.
"Where?"
"My house."
•
I open the door wide allowing her to walk in. I furrow my eyebrows as I hear music inside the house. I walk in behind her closing the door, she looks around in admiration and is silent. She's been silent the whole ride here. "Welcome," I say out loud.
She's nervous. I am too, I've never done anything like this but I should at least try. I realise that I want to help Yoona and always expect her to trust me but yet I haven't given her any reason to trust me. So right now as my heart is steady yet shaken I can't help but be nervous with her. In order to help her, I need to know everything about her and not what I already know.
I hear stiletto's tapping on the ground, a familiar humming that's supposed to be of a sad and peaceful song yet when my dad hums it, it sounds so violent. He comes by the foyer fixing his shirt.
"Oh Jimin?" Surprise written all over his face. "And girl?" He asks looking at Yoona perplexed. "Yes, of course girl...girl who looks very familiar,"
"Dad," I stand between them proudly smiling. "This is my friend Yoona from school,"
He lets his hand out and she immediately stretches her hand out smiling politely.
I never thought I'd see that side again.. What I realise is that when Yoona is with Hoseok and his darkness it gives her the power to alter into this fierce attention beast with no care whatsoever. But, when she's with me or people who have a light, she's back to herself and is shy. It's like an on and off button that she chooses to keep on or off.
"Are you related to Mr Kim?" He asks. Yoona nods her head.
"Y-yes he's my father," she answers. My dad let's go of her hand and smiles.
"No wonder you look so much like him," he laughs with his raspy vocals.
Yoona tilts her head to the side keeping a sad smile, "I look like a man?" She asks causing my dad to laugh.
"Don't we all look like men?" I tap his shoulder and shake my head. He shrugs and laughs on his own walking back to wherever he came from.
"Don't mind him, you look like a girl 100% and beautiful," I say. Her neck inflates making me cringe in laughter.
"Aren't you two supposed to be at school?" He asks.
I nod my head and answer honestly. "Yes we are. Aren't you supposed to be at work?" I ask.
He lifts his eyebrow up and points my way. "Touché. We dare not share with your mother," he says and looks at Yoona. "It was lovely meeting you dear," he smiles genuinely.
"Thank you Mr Park, you too,"
"We'll be upstairs," I inform him.
"And I'll be here," he says from somewhere deep in the house. I turn to Yoona and shake my head.
"My micasa is your micasa," she smiles lightly and I take her up the stairs to my study. She enters it and like expected,
She's in a fuzz just by looking at the picture and table. The pureness of the room frightens the darkness in her.
"What are we doing here?" She asks looking away from the photo to me.
"I want to tell you something," he says. "I'm hoping in me that telling you who I am, might make you to trust me more and open up to me,"
She backs up a bit and shakes her head. "I can't open up to you,"
"Why?" I ask her taking a seat watching her. She looks at the picture and back at me.
"Jimin... I'm not.." she shrugs her shoulders folding her arms and struggling for words. Her head shakes and she bites her lip. "You'd be surprised..."
"Drop your bags and follow me," I say standing up and walking to the door. She puts her bag down on the table and removes her blazer cautiously hanging it on the chair and following me. "You'd be surprised to at who I am,"
I walk slowly down the hallway of the house taking a peek behind me to see her. I take a turn into the hallway full of photos on the walls. It's the only hallway that's maroon in colour and holds so much meaning for my family.
"This is the family wall," I introduce her. "All memories captured by photo lay here. Take note that I said memories. Meaning all events that are dear to us,"
She looks up to the photos on either side of the wall and looks at them. "Dear like what?"
"Dear like this house. It's important because of the memories we've had in it. For family being united." I say and look at the photo's of my parents and myself. "My grandparents from my dad's side made a mistake. They did something that was terrible. In doing so they were given options to either leave the whole family or pay their debts. They choose to pay their debts by forcing their son, my dad, into an arranged marriage with the clan leaders daughter, my mum,"
I hold her turning her around to the photo of my mum and dad on their wedding day. "They don't look happy,"
"They weren't." I reply. "They hated each other but they had no choice. They loved their parents so they had to pretend. But the clan leaders weren't happy that my parents were not having a child. And so I came in the world on October 13."
"The month of darkness?" She asks, I nod my head letting out a breath.
"Yes the month of darkness. My parents were expected to hand me over as a sacrifice to free themselves from a marriage they didn't want. But something happened on that day. When my mum gave birth to me and she saw me. She didn't want to give me up. She begged my dad not to give in and... For the first time since they knew each other they agreed not to give me up. They ran away. They ran far away and hid. In doing so the elders placed some kind of curse on me,"
"A curse?" She removes my hands from her shoulders. "What kind of curse?" She turns and looks at me. "What kind of curse did they place on you? Why are you telling me all this?"
I smile lightly at her. "Because like I said, I want you to open up to me,"
"Go on with your story," she says crossing her arms.
"My parents ran away and tried to be outcasts. But for some reason wherever they went they were kicked out. They found out it was because of me. My grandmother told them that the clan did some kind of ritual and placed things in me. My parents had to return back to remove the curse. But even so when returning the elders tried to remove the curse but they couldn't. They couldn't do it because apparently, I was chosen to bear this gift like curse." We keep walking along the corridor watching every picture.
"You still didn't tell me what the curse is," she says.
I tilt my head walking up a pair of stairs. "Truth is, I don't know what it is as well. The preachers and prophets have been telling me it's a gift from...God. That He gave me the power to see beyond. Do you believe in things like that? Angels, devils, God, Lucifer, holy and mighty spirits?"
She nods her head. "I do,"
"I didn't believe in them. Until I started having dreams. Dreams of people who needed help and that in someway I could... save them,"
"Save them?" She asks.
I nod my head. "It's like I can see their hearts and hear there thoughts. I always thought it was a curse because the thoughts that people would have were ugly. The dreams were even worse, people were just dying and I knew that I could save them but I didn't. My dad and mum told me that all the wrongs they had done were catching up with them and that it was up to me to either let innocent people die or try to save them. Do you remember about the dream I told you about a girl who was suffering?"
She nods her head looking away from me. "You said you saw her face,"
I nod my head. "I did." I answer.
"So..the face you see in your dreams are the ones you see in real life?" She asks. I nod my head. "And if you want to, you can either decide to save them or not?"
She slowly looks at me. I'm about to open the door to my room when she stops me by placing her hand over my hand on the door knob. "Can you...save anyone?" She asks with a hint of desperation and uncertainty. "Wait.. nevermind forget I asked," she takes her hand away from mine and steps back.
"Do you trust me?"
It's a moment I can never forget. When she looks into my eyes with all her troubles and worries on display. The strong urge to save her because I feel so much emotions for her is high. But nothing prepares me for the darkness that covers over her in that very instant.
He's taken over her.
