• Chapter Ten •
The air felt cold and lifeless. Bailey breathed in a sharp breath, wrapping his freezing arms around his body. The room stilled, drops of snow gently drifted to the floor.
And there, in the darkest part of the room, was a shadowy silhouette of a girl. Bailey's eyes widened, not knowing what to do or say. The figure cocked its head to the side, making no noise. Slowly, its pale hand reached out, beckoning Bailey to come closer.
A shiver ran through his body. He could not move, not a single muscle allowed him to make an inch towards the figure, not like he even wished too. Bailey could not see, but he could feel a smirk form on the figures face.
"What a shame. We'll see how you feel later when those close to you fall..."
In one swift motion, the world around him melted into a black abyss.

"So... you're saying you saw a girl in your room?" Bailey sighed, placing his chin on the table in front of him. "Yeah, and she was really weird. My room was cold, and I couldn't really see her. But that voice... I know that voice! I've heard it before, but from where? It's like I know, but I've forgotten at the same time..."
Drew hummed, tapping his finger on the table. "I don't know what to say. And the whole 'losing those close to you' thing is incredibly bizarre." Bailey narrowed his eyes, picturing the event once more. "Yeah..." he mumbled, "bizarre."

It was a sunny day. Drew skipped along the sidewalk, kicking any rock that crossed his path. Bailey, on the other hand, pouted as he shoved his hands into his pockets. Too many things have thrown themselves in his direction. His thoughts have been filled with nothing but confusion and fear mixed as one.
Drew stopped in his tracks, placing his hands on his hips. "Here we are! Home sweet home!" Bailey furrowed his brows, "home? You don't live in the castle." A sneaky grin formed on Drew's face as he strolled down towards the castle.
Bailey felt quite miserable as he settled himself before the princess. Drew jumped into Aurora's arms, squeezing her like she was a doll. "I didn't expect you two to come." Aurora said, peaking over Drew's shoulder to look at Bailey. "Well..." he replied, "he wanted to see you so."
Aurora giggled, glancing back down at Drew. "I'm a little busy today, so if you like dangerous mission planning, today's your lucky day."
A thought crossed Bailey's mind, "actually, I have a small question. Um, there's a chance it's connected to the monster but I'm not sure." Aurora simply nodded, motioning them to the door. Bailey allowed images of the pale hand to fill his mind. Something in him sparked. It was like he knew this hand, which was a strange thing to think. Could it be he knows the person? If so, who is it?

Aurora folded her hands into her lap, waiting patiently for Bailey to speak. Both she and Drew could tell how distant Bailey was. Something had happened, quite frankly, a lot had happened to him. Bailey sighed, shaking his head. "Yesterday... I met someone." He started, gazing up to meet Aurora's gaze. A knowing smile was planted on her face.
"It felt so weird. My room was frozen over, snow was drifting to the floor. And there, in the corner, was this girl. I couldn't see her face, but her hand. I recognize her hand! She spoke to me, I think she told me my future? She said, 'What a shame. We'll see how you feel later when those close to you fall...'
Aurora placed a comforting hand on Bailey's shoulder. "And why do you think it's connected to the monster?" She asked, cocking her head to the side. He didn't answer right away. He let his eyes wander over to the window, settling on a far off tree. "Because," he started, "I know that voice. It's not the monster's voice, but it is the monster's voice."
A smirk formed on Aurora's face. "I can't say weather you are right or wrong, the answer is in your hands." Drew sat up, giving Bailey a confident thumbs up. "I guess it was a good thing I brought you, huh?"
"Don't take all the credit," Aurora said, placing her hands on her hips. "I told you to bring him!" Drew held up his hands in defense, giving a sly grin.
Bailey folded his hands over his knees, deep in thought. "Why was I born in the human world and not here?"
The room went silent for a moment, "Well, you see... that's a story your parents should tell you..." Aurora and Drew locked eyes, both giving a knowing look to each other. "Why though? They're humans, right? Why do I even have these powers? Why do I know that girl? Is it even a girl? Why is the monster talking to me? Am I dreaming? Why do you know of my world, but none of them know of you? Why are we saving the world when none of them will know that it's in danger? They won't give thanks to those who saved it. They will live out their lives normally, never knowing of the heroes. The people that saved their time, their history. Their past!"
Bailey narrowed his eyes, feeling more mad at himself then them. It was unfair to yell at them when they've only ever helped him. Yet, that didn't stop him from the questions, the fears, the lack of hope. Aurora stood up, "I understand how you feel, Bailey. But it does not matter what they do or don't know. What matters is what we do. We are heroes. All of us. It doesn't matter if we're human or not. Each and every one of us in this universe is a hero, you just need to believe you are. Never feel ashamed, trust yourself and you will succeed. Will you promise me that you will put the worlds need before yours? Will you save the world before it's all gone?"
