Visiting the Village

Rosanna's POV:

It felt so nice to be back in my house again, although I wasn't comfortable in my bed I was perfectly fine in Kurt's. I slept through the night, no night-mares, only to receive a rude awakening.

"ROSA!"

Kurt's voice echoed through the house, he must have gotten up before I did. I staggered upright and down the stairs, coming to a stop in the kitchen where Kurt was sitting on a bar-stool by the counter, jaw-dropped in a comical expression of surprise. He was staring at his laptop with his earbuds in, so I couldn't hear what he was watching. He quickly clicked back to the start of the video and extended an earbud to me. I sat down on the stool next to him and accepted the earbud, but when I looked up to see what he was watching I was shocked.

It was a video that had been posted not two minutes ago on YouTube, of Louis's interview with his bandmates. I listened wordlessly as it progressed, my jaw tightening when they started talking about Eleanor. Before I even had time to process what was happening, there was a picture of me and Louis, talking, that first day on the sidewalk. Louis tried to explain it away, his previously sad expression changing to one of barely-contained fury. I could see his temper flaring more with each word that was said, until he cut the man off roughly, demanding a subject change. I could see how enraged he was, and the other boys could too, glancing at him with concern throughout the interview.

The video ended and Kurt turned to look at me, obviously expecting me to be mad, surprised, sad, or some combination thereof. And yet, to both his surprise and mine, I wasn't any of them. I knew this would happen eventually, it just happened a little bit sooner than I expected.

"Well?" He prompted. I just shook my head.

"I'm not mad, Kurt. A little surprised that they found out so soon, but I was expecting them to find out sooner or later, this is just a little sooner than I expected."

Kurt smiled, just a little quirk of each corner of his mouth.

"When did you become so wise? I remember a Rosanna who almost never said the right thing at the right time, who had no idea what proper etiquette was. But now I see a Rosa who is all of those things and more. Will you ever tell me what happened to cause this?"

I gaped slightly, a little shocked that he had noticed so much, but then I realized that I should be shocked that I hadn't considered the possibility that he would notice, he was the King of logic and observation and I should have known better.

"One day, Kurt, one day when I can think of it without a mental battle of emotions. Now, I'm going to go call Louis, make sure that he's okay. He seemed pretty shaken up."

Kurt nodded and I left the room, heading back up to my bedroom and collapsing in my brown chair. I pulled out my phone and tapped Louis's contact, waiting for him to pick up. He answered much quicker than I expected him to.

"Ro!"

"Hey Lou, are you okay?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"

"I saw the interview, Louis.  I saw how angry you were, and how upset you were when Eleanor was mentioned, so I thought that I would call and check on you, make sure that you were okay."

There was silence on the other end, I could hear him breathing and moving, and then a door being shut in the background.  A bed creaked as he sat down on it.

"You're not mad at me, are you Ro?"

He sounded so vulnerable, much like when I first met him, when his heart was breaking and I took it upon myself to help fix it.

"Of course not Louis, I'm not mad.  A little surprised that they found out so quickly, but I'm not mad.  I knew it would happen eventually."

"I'll understand if you don't want to stick around after this, most people leave after the first time they come up in an interview."

I smiled softly even though he couldn't see me.

"I'll stick around Lou, as long as you want me to.  I don't mind them talking about me, I've hardened myself against insults long before now, living with my mother will do that to a person.  Anyway, how was your day?"

And thus the conversation progressed, with him describing the interviews and the antics him and the lads pulled, and me describing my home and Kurt.  We talked for hours, until he had to leave to go get dinner.  He told me that he was having dinner with the boys and that Harry and Lou were making it.  So we said our goodbyes, with me promising to keep him updated on how my mom was doing, and him promising to say hello to everyone for me.

Once I hung up I went downstairs to find Kurt in the same place that I had left him, on his computer, sitting at the kitchen counter.  I shook my head at my electronically obsessed brother and headed outside.  Our house was surrounded with trees when we lived here as a family, and that hadn't changed, though some of the trees were missing and there were new ones in their places.  I went to the front of the house, into the bit of trees that separated our house from the road and bordered one side of our driveway.  It wasn't a long walk, indeed it only took maybe a minute before I reached my destination.

Less than a year after we moved here, Kurt and I were outside, building.  We had always had a fascination with trees, and my fascination with Native Americans and their culture only helped to fuel our building.  The Front Woods was full of tepee's, of various shapes and sizes.  Two of them were still standing, they were the two that we had built most recently before Kurt left and Mom and I moved to the new house.  Joshua refused to build any with me, so thankfully I didn't have to tear any down when we left.  My closest friends at the time of our building would always construct a personal tepee for themselves, so that we could have our own houses when they would come over to play.

And then, for the first time in two years, I was standing in the Tepee Village.  I was glad that two were still standing, though I was sad for the four that had fallen.  I got to work, re-clearing the paths and collecting branches for the re-construction of the tepee's.  I started on the oldest one, the very first one that I had ever built.  It was smaller than the rest, as it matched my height at the time.  Because it was so short, it only took me a half-hour to rebuild it, and I moved on to the next one.  It was the one that my friend Tori built, before she moved to Oregon.  It was bigger, though still a bit small for my current height.

A hour later, I had finished it.  My rumbling stomach suddenly alerted me to the fact that I had forgotten to eat breakfast, and a glance at my watch told me that it was lunch time, so I headed back through the woods and into my house once more.

A/N:  I UPDATED!!  Are you guys happy?  I'm sorry that this is such a boring chapter, I feel like you guys deserve more after waiting so long, but this is how the story is progressing, and even I, the author, can't fight against that.  For the image, it's that kind of tepee, but less insulated and not as well-built.  Comment what you thought, vote if you liked it.  Love you guys!
