How We Met
Rosanna's POV:
Niall's girlfriend smiled at me, a big, happy-go-lucky smile that made me like her immediately.
"Hi! My name's Justine Melvar, it's so nice to meet you!" She had a very soft Irish accent, not nearly as thick as Niall's, it was much like my own mild Italian accent, barely there after years of living elsewhere. She had thick brown hair, darker than mine, with pretty hazel eyes, the complete opposite of Niall. She embraced me, then her and Niall sat down.
Liam's girlfriend gave me a large smile, extending her hand to shake mine. She had gorgeous auburn hair to her shoulders, with blue eyes.
"My name is Jess Barry, it's a pleasure to meet you Rosanna." She said gently, in contrast to her large, welcoming smile.
"You as well." I replied, smiling at her. Liam took her arm and escorted her to a seat, sitting down next to her. Then I turned to Harry's girlfriend.
She had blonde hair in a pixie cut, with big liquid brown eyes. She grinned a grin that was so full of mischief and good humor that I knew we were going to be friends, I liked her already and I didn't even know her name.
"I'm known as Lou to everybody, my full name is Louise Farquar but if you use it I will cease to be your friend." She gasped dramatically, with a French accent about as thick as Niall's Irish one. I smirked, and she locked eyes with me, smiling with them.
"My friends call me any version of my name but my own, so if you call me Rosanna, I'm afraid I will have to banish you from my heart. You're excused, Jess, because you didn't know any better, but please don't call me Rosanna, as I would have to make you my sworn enemy." I declared, using my drama class in college to full effect. Everyone chuckled, and then we all sat down, with Lou on Harry's lap in a chair, Liam and Jess on the love seat, and me, Louis, Niall, and Justine all managing to fit onto the couch due to our slim waists.
I refused to let an awkward silence encompass us, so I broke the ice.
"So, I want to know how you guys all met each other! Lou and Harry, you first because Lou's French accent intrigues me." I stated, smiling and genuinely curious. The two of them grinned like Cheshire cats, well I guess Harry actually was one but that was beside the point.
"We were touring in France, our second-to-last tour, and we had to stay there for two weeks because of some issues with the set and a whole bunch of other stuff, it was like everything broke down at once. So, I took to wandering Paris at times, just getting to know the city and the people and picking up some of the language. I ran into her at the bakery where she worked, our first day there, and it was almost love at first sight but not quite, although we could both tell that there was a connection between us. I went back to the bakery at the same time of day, every day for a week straight before I finally asked for her number, and the rest is history. She lives here with me, the reason she wasn't here to greet you was because her and the other girls were out shopping. Did I miss anything, Lou?"
This last question was directed to the girl in question, who had been nodding along and smiling to everything that Harry had said. Then she smirked.
"Just the little fact that you spilled hot chocolate on me during our first date. I knew I was falling in love with you when I realized you were clumsier than I was, and therefore would make me look less clumsy."
She smiled cheekily up at him. He was red from the neck up, from his collarbones to the tips of his ears, he looked like a lobster he was blushing so hard. I was laughing hysterically, as was everyone else. Once everyone had regained their breath I leaned around Louis to look at Niall and Justine.
"You two are next." I said simply, waiting for them to begin and getting comfortable, with my legs across Louis's lap, so that I could see them while they talked. Justine started with a smile.
"I was in Mullingar with my family, we had just moved back there for my father's job after years living in Greenwich. At the time, I knew who One Direction was, and who Niall was, but that was about it. I wasn't overly fascinated with them, I knew their names and a few songs but that was it, so obviously I hadn't researched their families like so many fangirls do."
Here I blushed slightly, knowing that I had done that exact thing once I discovered them. Louis gave me a knowing look, but no one else noticed and Justine kept talking.
"So I obviously didn't realize the fact that some of my parents closest friends were Niall's mom and step-dad. My parents told me, about a week after we moved and had finished unpacking, that they had invited Maura and Chris over, but they neglected to inform me that Niall Horan was going to be coming as well."
At this point she turned to Niall, silently telling him that it was his turn to tell the story.
"I was visiting my parents while we were on break. I had only been there a couple of days when my parents told me that we were going to a friends house for dinner that night, saying how they had known them ages ago and that they had just moved back from Greenwich. I didn't really care much about their history, there was food involved and I pretty much stopped listening at that point, so I agreed to go with them. When we got there all four of them told me to go help someone named Justine in the kitchen. I had no idea who they were talking about, but I went anyway, just in time to catch a plate she was in the process of dropping, and introducing myself. Turns out our parents were playing match-maker and had decided that we were perfect to each other. They were right, and I ended up asking her to be my girlfriend before I left again for tour."
I grimaced slightly, flinching back just a little at the mention of the parents playing match-maker, before fixing a smile on my face, though I noticed Liam watching me intently. I mentally arghed, knowing that if I stuck around as their friend in this hiatus of theirs, that I would end up being forced to share my past, and that was something I did not want.
All of those thoughts passed through my head in the blink of an eye, as I simultaneously made some comments to Niall and Justine, all with that fake smile on my face. Then I turned to face Liam, and simply raised a perfectly arched eyebrow, the silent question very obvious. He met my gaze head on, and then leaned back, lessening the intensity of his gaze whilst I moved to face him and Jess, removing my legs from Louis. Liam turned to look at Jess slightly, smiling softly before looking back up at me.
"Believe it or not, we met at a bar. The lads had dragged me along with them, despite the fact that I can't drink, and I ended up as I usually do: holding up the wall with a glass of root beer in my hand, watching everybody else get drunk out of their minds and dancing like idiots. Except this time, it was different. There was a girl helping me hold up the wall. She had a glass of what looked like Sprite, leaning against the wall wearing a blue blouse, dark-wash skinny jeans and white Toms. We ended up talking, since we were the only ones in that entire bar who weren't drunk aside from the bar-tender, and hit it off. She had been dragged along by a group of friends, same as I had, and we helped each other get our friends into each other's cars. We exchanged numbers, agreed to meet up somewhere proper to have a good chat, and ended up together within three months."
I smiled softly, it was such a sweet story, I loved it, and I told them so. We talked, played games, and ate pizza until about ten at night, when the most life-changing conversation of my life started.
A/N: Sorry it's been a while, I kind of forgot about how long it had been since I updated, lol. Hope you guys like this, I had fun coming up with descriptions and unique stories for each of them.
