Eighteen.
"Okay, here we go. Time travel test number one." Elena pressed her lips together, "Oh god."
"Scott...fire up, the uh van thing." He instructed.
"Breakers are set," Steve walked over, "Emergency generators are on standby."
"Good, because if we blow off the grid, I don't want to lose, uh tiny over here in the 1950s." Elena stood beside Natasha nervously watching them set this whole thing up.
"Excuse me?" Scott asked, "He's kidding." Natasha shook her head, "Is he though?" Elena questioned.
"You can't say things like that." Natasha looked at both Elena and Banner, "It was a bad joke." Banner stammered.
Scott nodded turning to face the van, "You were kidding right?" Natasha asked, worriedly.
"I have no idea. We're talking about time travel here." Banner spoke, voice hushed.
"He's right Nat, this has a high probability of ending badly." Elena whispered.
"We're good." Banner gave Scott a thumbs up, "Get your helmet on. Scott I'm going to send you back a week, let you walk around for an hour and then bring you back in ten seconds. Make sense?"
Scott stared at him blankly, "Perfectly not confusing."
"Good luck, Scott." Steve stated, "You got this."
"You're right. I do, Captain America." Scott spoke, he got sucked back into the van seconds later. Elena stared at where he was previously standing, "This shit is wild."
"On a count of three," Banner started, "Three, two, one." Banner pressed some buttons, and he was back, but not quite the right age.
"Uh guys," Scott spoke, "This doesn't feel right."
"What's going on?" Steve asked, "Who is that?" Natasha followed.
"Hold on," Banner leaned down, "Is that Scott?" Elena asked, "Yes, it's Scott." He said moments before disappearing again.
"What's going on, Bruce?" Natasha asked, "Oh my back!" Scott exclaimed reappearing way too old.
"Well this can't be good." Elena stated, pulling Yelena's vest tighter against her torso.
"Wait a second, could I get a little space here?" Bruce questioned, and Elena took a couple of steps away.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can you bring him back?" Steve asked moving.
"I'm working on it." He pressed a bunch of buttons.
"It's a baby." Steve quipped, "It's Scott." Bruce countered, "Yeah, as a damn baby." Elena added.
"Not helping, Ellie." Natasha said quietly.
"He'll grow." Banner stated, "Bring Scott back." Steve instructed, "He's trying!" Elena exclaimed, "You're trying right?"
"When I say kill the power. Kill the power." Bruce instructed.
"Oh my god." Natasha said, minorly freaking out.
"And kill it!" Banner exclaimed, and Natasha pulled the lever.
Luckily, it worked and Scott appeared in front of him, as Scott. "Oh thank god," Elena whispered.
"Somebody peed my pants." Scott said, "Oh thank god." Natasha's hand flew to her chest.
"But I don't know if it was baby me, or old me." Scott continued, "Or just me...me."
"Time travel!" Bruce's arms flew up, and Elena shook her head, "What? I see this as an absolute win." Bruce stated.
Elena walked outside, to meet Tony. Steve was standing outside just to take a breath.
Tony's car pulled up, catching Steve's attention, he looked towards Elena, "Is this your doing?"
Elena shrugged, "He needed a little push."
"Why the long face?" Tony asked, rolling down the window, "Let me guess, he turned into a baby."
"Yup." Elena stated, "I'm glad you changed your mind."
"It's the EPR Paradox." Tony opened the car door, "Instead of pushing Lang through time...you would've wound up pushing time through Lang."
"And That's why I was hoping you'd show up." Elena breathed, "It's tricky, dangerous. Somebody could have cautioned you against it." Tony continued.
"You did." Steve stated, "Oh did I?" Tony feigned question, and Elena rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah, you told us so, can we get on with this now?"
"Regardless, I fixed it," Tony held a device up, "A fully functioning time-space gps."
"You are actually my favorite person right now...ok second favorite person. Valkyrie is my favorite by default." Elena spoke, "Thank you, Tony. Really."
"We got a shot at getting these stones, but I gotta tell you my priorities. Bring back what we lost, I hope, yes. Keep what I found, I have to, at all costs." Tony stated, "I second that," Elena nodded,
"Yeah, me too. We've all built a life of sorts." Steve agreed, thinking of Maya.
"And maybe not die trying. Would be nice." Tony added, "Yeah, just a slight bonus." Elena spoke, with a small smile.
"Sounds like a deal," Steve held out his hand, and Tony accepted it, shaking it. Before walking over to the trunk and picking up something, that was covered by a blanket and a couple of stuffed toys.
Tony moved them away revealing Steve's Shield, and holding it up, "Tony, I don't know." Steve said.
"Why? He made it for you. Plus, honestly I have to get it out of the garage before Morgan takes it sledding." Tony stated, handing it off to Steve.
"Thank you, Tony."
"Will you keep that a little quiet?" Tony asked, "Didn't bring one for the whole team. We are getting the whole team, yeah?"
"We're working on that right now." Steve stated, "It's a work in progress, they're still a bit of a mess."
"Don't discount yourself. You're part of the mess, Ellie." Tony stated, "Yeah, yeah."
"You're sure it's a good idea approaching him?" Elena whispered, and Natasha sighed, "It has to be."
Elena let out a soft gasp, as the man's sword tore through the other man, without turning, he pulled off his mask, "You shouldn't be here."
"Neither should you." Natasha spoke, "I've got a job to do." he stated.
"Is that what you're calling this?" Natasha asked, and Elena stood beside her, "Killing all these people isn't going to bring your family back."
"Come on," Natasha whispered, before walking forward, "We found something. A chance, maybe."
"Don't." Clint sighed, "Don't what?"
"Don't give me hope," he shook his head, "I'm sorry I couldn't give it to you sooner." Natasha apologized softly.
Natasha held out her hand gently wrapping it around Clint's, and a few moments later she dropped it, "This is Elena by the way." she introduced.
"Hi...I've heard, things about you...some good, mostly bad. But it's nice to meet you I think? I don't know seeing you kill that guy has made me kind of nervous, not gonna lie." Elena rambled.
"Well I've heard many stories about you Elena, it's good to finally meet you."
"Yeah."
