Chapter 9

(y/n)

I quietly kicked a box around, my mind everywhere. I had stopped the camera playback, not wanting to see it until I could prepare myself.

I wanted to turn back the clock. Back to last year. Back to the day Sara was born. Back to when Sammy was born. Back before my hip cracked. Back before I fell into solitude. Back to who I wish I was: a spirited, free girl who knew what was amazing, so positive that all she could do was smile.

Why can't I be her? Right... because nothing goes right for me...

I let out a harsh sigh before sitting down, leaning back on the table, pressing the play button on the camera.

The camera scratched before the land line rang. I growled, "Garroth, answer the phone!"

"Alright, Alright!" Garroth shouted from the other room, moving out of his room and to the dining room. He grabbed the phone, answering.

I was going to watch the video, but I started to grow curious of who was talking. As if an answer to the wish, Garroth called me into the room, his voice gentle and showing concern. I frowned, not actually wanting to know in the end.

I slowly walked towards him, watching his face, "Who is it?" I asked, slightly angry at him still.

"It's your parents... they want you to go to the hospital," Garroth said softly.

"Why? There's no reason to," I frowned, crossing my arms, my mind blanking from reality.

Garroth bit his lip, "It's your brother," chills shocked through my spine, "They're pulling the plug..."

I stood frozen before nodding, "Come on," I shakily said before grabbing my bag from the chair.

Garroth hung up before he and I went into a run and went to get in his car. My body was slightly shaking. I was confused and scared. Why pull him now?

After a few minutes, a warm, gentle hand touched mine, then Garroth's kind voice, words said to show sympathy to me.

I couldn't hear him. I couldn't even hear myself. All I could hear was Sammy screaming, crying, giggling, laughing, happy, squealing... being himself.

There was a silence. The hospital was slowly making its way forward to us. I closed my eyes and opened them.

"Sissy! Sissy!"

I turned around before giggling, picking my brother up, hugging him tenderly, "Hey, little man. Ready to go to the park?"

His head vigorously moved in a nodding motion as he grinned, "Park! Park!"

My cheeks came up in a smile. Sammy got onto the ground and ran into another room before Sara giggled, wobble-walking to me. I gasped, smiling, "Hey sweetie!"

She giggled, her cast clanking the floor before I pulled her up and spun around, Sara squealing excitedly.

"Ready to get that big bad thing off soon?" I smiled, holding her on my hip.

She nodded, "Tomorrow!" Her beaming smile made me laugh. Sammy came back with their shoes, giggling.

I helped the two get ready before Mom walked in, fighting with Dad still, coming inside from the backyard. I bit my lip before my twin brother came in from the front, starting to wonder where I was with our siblings. He saw them. The two went over to him before I slowly began to follow them.

Wraps around his head. It looked like the wraps of a linen cloth in burial clothing. He still had not woken up.

All my mind and will hoped that he would wake up, he would be okay soon. He, Sammy, the most adorable boy you could find, the sweetest little brother...

He's stuck on a hospital bed, coma and all, his body (I knew) was fighting to work but things inside him prevented and destroyed his hard work.

Mom softly walked over to him.

"Aw...!" I giggled, running across the room to my parents and this tiny little bundle with Mom.

Mom softly smiled as my frail, skinny body leaned over the bed, my mind aching to see the baby that Mom and Dad spoke of day after day for 7 months.

"This is your two's baby brother, Samuel," Mom said, gently revealing his face so I and my slow approaching twin brother could see.

"Hi Sammy!" I whisper-shouted, a smile beaming across my cheeks.

Mom chuckled at my new brother's nickname, "Sammy?"

I nodded, "Yup. He looks like a Sammy," I said, looking at her with a bright smile. She laughed lightly.

Dad softly walked to Sammy, gently looking at him.

"He looks like Daddy," I giggled, grinning.

Sara softly crawled up onto the bed, hugging Sammy carefully. Her eyes softly closed, her cheeks pink, her barely knowing of what was happening.

Soon enough, I and my twin walked up, looking at him softly. My brother's hands were clammy, him too nervous to speak fluently.

His words were heartbreaking; "Can you hear me?" he paused, the two of us hoping he would move. He didn't, "I don't know if you can hear me..." His last two words choked the two of us up.

"I'm sorry..." My brother rarely cries or shows it. His eyes welled with tears before he walked to the other side of the room. I bit my lip.

It felt like everyone had left, the silence in the room slowly left me with my brother. I didn't know what to say.

I slowly drew in a breath, gently sitting down on the end of the bed, his body still lying, but it went to the side from the indent of my mass on the mattress. I painfully smiled, "Hey there, Sammy. Um... I don't know much to tell you b-but," My voice began to choke, pain tumbling through me.

Garroth came up and stood beside me. I gently looked at my brother, the nurses beginning to do things. I gently picked him up, them allowing it. My smile was full of pain, it hurting to smile.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine... You make me, happy, when, the skies, are gray..." Tears welled in my once again, "I'll let you know, dear, how much I love you... Please don't take... my sun... shine... away..." I held him close, my tears dripping onto my shirt, him near me still.

His controlled breathing, his gentle heartbeat, his life, was in my arms. I felt it all, feeling like he was all I had left. Just before they pulled the plug, I gently kissed his forehead, my eyes teared up, my voice saying words that I meant with all my heart: "I love you, Sammy... you will never be forgotten."

His last breath and heartbeat stopped, the two connecting with mine...

The only thing I could do, was cry. He's gone now... for the rest of my life...

"You are broken..."

"We are still your friends..."

"Do you still believe that...?"

"I'm still here..."

I will put you back together.......
