Part 29
Natasha's POV
"A mission? But you can't leave me." I said and he looked at me with a smile.
"I'm serious. I have never been alone with her." I said terrified of the idea of Steve leaving for two days.
"Then maybe it's time." Steve said and I rolled my eyes. He smiled even brighter.
"Trust me, I don't want to leave. But I can't escape from this mission." He said and I nodded.
"Fine." I said and he kissed my lips.
"I'll be back in no time." He said as he let go of my hand and walked out of the door. I closed it and turned around. I put my head at the door before I took a deep breath. I looked at Emma who crawled towards me on the floor and I picked her up. I smiled at her adorable face and held my hand on the back of her head. Her blonde hair shined bright and I kissed her forehead.
"So I guess there's only you and me for two days huh." I said and she smiled. I took a deep breath and thought for a while. Maybe we should visit Clint later. Then we don't really have to be alone.
"We can visit uncle Clint! How about that?" I said to her and she didn't react. "Well, let's go to the store first."
I was to lazy to bring the pram Pepper had given to us so I dressed Emma warm from the cold and held her in my arms. While outside, I though about taking the car but wanted to take a walk instead. Emma didn't mind. We stopped at some parks on the way there and I let Emma play with whatever she was big enough to play with. I put her in a little swing and she laughed as I gave it a push. I smiled at her and she kicked her legs in amusement.
Suddenly a few people came up to us, all with cameras in their hands.
"Black Widow and Captain Americas daughter!" Someone shouted a little to loud. I looked at them annoyed.
"Natasha Romanoff? Something you want to say to the paper?" A guy asked and I took out Emma of the swing and held her tight to my chest, trying to hide her face from the cameras.
"Yes, please leave my daughter alone." I said and a few more pictures were taken.
"One picture! Please miss!" A man said. "We want a picture of the new baby hero." He said and I looked at him with disgust.
"She's a baby." I said and the man shock his head.
"Is it true that she cries or screams only when in danger?" A woman asked and I started to walk away. They went after me and I turned around to face them.
"Please. Leave us alone or I'll have to break your necks and that's not something I'm happy to do in front of my daughter." I said to the paparazzi who slowly started to back away.
I went to the grocery store and put Emma in a carriage and began shopping som groceries. I went to the fruit area and a woman bumped into me and I looked at her surprised.
"Oh I'm so sorry miss." The woman said and looked at me."Natasha Romanoff I mean." She said with a surprised face and I smiled.
"It's fine." I said and put down some tomatoes in the carriage. She looked at Emma and I looked at the woman suspiciously.
"I must say, your daughter is very pretty." The woman said and I nodded.
"She's taking after her dad." I said although everyone else tells me the difference. The woman smiled.
"So you're here grocery shopping?" She asked and I nodded.
"Well, if there's something else you can do at a grocery store, please inform me." I said and the woman laughed a little.
"That's right. So where is your husband?" The woman asked and I shock my head.
"We're not married. And he's working." I said and the woman nodded.
"Right. Of course, saving the world as usual." She said with a smile and I nodded.
"Something like that." I said as I slowly began to walk away. Emma suddenly began crying and my body tensed. I looked back and realised the woman held a knife in her hands. She tried stabbing me with it but I managed to turn her wrist and she dropped the knife to the ground. I pressed her down to the dirty floor and a few of the stuff came and held her down. Someone else around called the cops that soon were on the scene and I ran over to Emma. She had stopped crying but a few tears still ran down her cheeks. I wiped the away and picked her up in my arms. I stroke her head and kissed her forehead.
"Thanks honey." I said and she put her hand on my cheek and smiled a little.
I noticed another bunch of paparazzi's that came to the scene and I shock head as a cop came up talking to us.
"Black widow." He said with a nod. "What happened?" He asked and I shock my head.
"She held a knife, about to stab me. That's all. I took her down." I said and the cop nodded.
"Thank you." The cop said and I walked away, with Emma still in my arms. I tried to avoid all the looks people gave us as I paid for our groceries and began walking home.
Emma was asleep and I had woken up early by another familiar nightmare.
I sat by the kitchen table and drank a cup of tea. I furrowed my eyebrows as I read the newspaper.
'Black widow and baby playing in the park'
'Captain Americas daughter in a grocery trauma'
'The superhero baby crying'
'Black widow almost stabbed by woman'
'Natasha Romanoff comforting her daughter, read page 32 for adorable pictures."
I turned the pages to 32 and looked at all the pictures of me holding Emma and kissing her head. I breathed deep at the thought of how many pictures that her face was visible in.
My phone started ringing and I looked at it. It read 'Clint'. I picked it up.
"Tell me we're welcome over." I said,
"Always. See you soon." He said as he hung up.
I went to the bedroom and picked up the sleepy Emma from the crib.
"Let's visit uncle Clint shall we?" I whispered quietly to her and she fluttered her eyes open a bit and made a bubbly sound. I kissed her nose and smiled.
