Part 25
Steve's POV
"Are you sure?" I said in panic. Natasha looked at my face with a dead expression.
"Really? Are you really asking me if I'm sure the baby's about to come? Are you nuts?" She said and chuckled a little. "Get me to the hospital!"
"Sorry, yeah.. Clint!!" I shouted after Clint.
He walked over.
"What's up?" He said trying to sound cool. Natasha became serious as the first contraction began.
"Hospital. Now." She said while breathing through the pain. I had my hands wrapped around her back.
"The babies coming? Omg." Clint said as we made our way to the closet car and he sat down behind the wheel as it flew over the streets of New York.
When we got to the hospital, we were shown to a room to wait there until it was time to really give birth. Natasha had contractions now and then but not often enough. She was sitting in a hospital bed in a white hospital gown. I was in a chair next to her and Clint sat on a chair by the wall. He had a big smirk plastered on his face.
"I have an idea.." He began.
"We're not naming him Clint." Natasha said looking at him with a 'for real' look.
"And I don't think Clint will suit a girl really." I said smiling.
Natasha shock her head to show that she believed it was a boy.
"I'm the one with the baby inside me. I still think I'm right." She said smirking.
I just smiled at her. Another contraction came and her smirk turned into a pained expression. I held her hand and she squeezed it tight.
"It doesn't look that bad. Laura had a really hard time with the first two." Clint said and Natasha gave him a deathly stare.
"No uterus no opinion." She said, quoting Clint's favourite show friends.
"Oh stop it, don't involve my friends into this." He said and Nat smirked.
After a while, it was time. Clint was left in the waiting room as Natasha and I were showed into the delivery room. Natasha's contractions had become worse and I was extremely worried. She almost screamed in pain which was very strange since she barely feel pain when she gets shot. I was by her side at all time but it was as if she was unconscious but still awake. I couldn't get contact with her. She did what the nurses told her to do but it was as if she could only focus on the pain.
"Natasha. I'm here. It's going to be alright. I not it doesn't seem that way but please, you got to fight." I said trying to sound calm. Tears fell down her cheeks as she screamed once again.
Natasha's POV
I could barley breath. I've never felt such pain. I knew it would hurt but this feels wrong. Something's wrong. Steve was beside me, whispering comforting things to me but I couldn't calm down. I couldn't control my body. Suddenly, the light in the room started to flicker and I looked at Steve who looked back to me surprised. The lights suddenly broke and glass was splattered on the floor. One of the nurses screamed and I joined her.
"It's coming." I heard a voice say.
When I stopped, the pain felt less strong and another light scream could be heard. The baby. To my fear, they didn't let me hold it. They quickly ran out of the room and didn't tell me what they were doing. Steve ran after them and I was left alone. Fear bubbled inside me and it felt like I was going to pass out. After a moment, everything went black.
Suddenly, I could feel my eyes open and I found myself in a different room. My heart raced as I my first thought was of the baby. I turned my head to find Steve right beside me. I saw the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in his hands. He looked up at me and smiled.
"I'm sorry, it's a girl." He said smiling.
"Let me hold her." I said, not taking my eyes of her. He handed her to me and I held her as carefully as I could not to hurt her. I looked down at her face. Her eyes were closed and she was asleep. I felt so happy. My body aced with happiness and I could feel a few tears running down my cheeks. I looked at Steve.
"She's beautiful." I said smiling.
He chuckled.
"Well, she's a copy of you. Well except for the hair colour." He said and I smiled while looking at the little blonde hair that existed on her head.
"What happened?" I said looking at Steve again. His face suddenly got serious.
"It was very strange. She, well the light went of and when she got out, I could hear her scream. So I thought everything was fine. Until she stopped. They ran outside and I followed. She was.. dead. But she came back. I don't know how. The nurses didn't even do anything." He said in concern. I was surprised and scared. I looked at the little one in my arms and carefully touched her little head.
"You know I would have killed you if you died." I whispered to her smiling. "Don't you dare leave us." To my surprise, her eyes flattered open and I was greeted by my own. I looked at her surprised. It was as if I was looking inside a mirror. I looked at Steve and he saw my surprised expression.
"Yeah. Really. The only thing she got from me was the hair." He said chuckling. "And I'm happy that was the case." I smiled.
A knock could be heard at the door and Clint stepped in.
"Can I..?" He began.
"Yes." I said before he could finish his sentence. He walked to my bed and looked down at the little girl in my arms. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at me in disgust.
"Dammit, how the hell am I going to do this now. Two Natasha's to tease me." He said jokingly and kissed my forehead. Steve laughed.
"This one is a real catch so keep your son away." I said smirking.
"Oh no, Tony's going to freak. He'll have a second generation of Clint and Natasha to tease him." Steve said laughing and I joined. Clint smiled.
"They're going to be best buds." Clint said.
"Don't get your hopes up." I said. "I don't know how I put up with you all this time."
"What's her name?" Clint said smirking.
"We don't know yet." Steve said and I nodded in agreement.
"I have a few suggestion, actually." Clint said as he took out a note book from his pocket. "One, Laura. Two.."
"Oh stop it Clint." I said hitting him in the arm. He chuckled.
"Can I hold my precious goddaughter?" He said smiling. I carefully handed her to him and he held her as carefully as I did. Except he was used to it.
"You already took the title as godfather huh?" I said laughing. He looked down at our daughter and smiled.
"Who else is better suited for the job?" He said smiling down at out little girl. I looked at Steve who nodded in agreement and I smiled. He gave me a short kiss on the lips.
"I didn't bet any money on that boy thing did I?" I asked and Steve shock his head.
"No but I wished you would have." He said smirking. Either he was lying to make me happy or he forgot about our 100 dollars bet. Didn't matter much to me. I save 100 bucks and got a wonderful little girl. I couldn't wish for anything better.
