Part 13
Natasha's POV
I woke up, still with Steve's hands around my waist. Our naked bodies were tight and I could feel his breath in my neck. He was still fast asleep and I turned around carefully not to wake him. He noticed the movement but didn't wake up. Instead he dragged me closer. I didn't mind, who would? Instead I put my head on his chest, listening to the sound of his heart. I was just about to dose of into deep sleep again when a scream could be heard. Steve woke up, mumbling and groaning.
"It's fine, I got it baby." I said to him, giving him a quick kiss on the lips. I went out of bed and put on my night gown. I walked into James room and saw him standing up in his bed, crying.
"Hey baby, why are you crying?" I said, as I lifted him up. He wrapped his arms around my neck and put his face in my shoulder. His blonde hair was as messy as Steve's in the mornings.
"James, do you want to tell mommy why you're crying?" I said again, smiling as I tried to get him to stop.
"I had a dream." He said, sobbing. "You and daddy weren't here anymore."
"I promise you that we will always be here." I said as I brushed away one of the tears that had been falling down his chin. His green eyes looked at me and wanted comfort. "You see, even if daddy and I wouldn't be here some day, we will always be right here." I said, pointing at his heart. "I promise you that we will always be here to look after you."
James smiled.
"You know what we should do? We should go to the kitchen and get some ice cream, does that sound like a good idea?" I said, smiling.
"Yes! Ice cream!" James said, smiling happily.
"But you gotta promise me not to tell daddy, you know he doesn't like out late night ice cream parties." I chuckled.
James put his hand on his heart and the other one in the air.
"I promise!"
"Good." I said laughing.
We went into the kitchen and I took some ice cream out of the freezer. James tried to find some spoons but ended up breaking a glass. It fell from the table with a crash.
"What the hell are you doing? You stupid child. I thought I taught you better than this?" I almost screamed at him.
He started crying immediately.
"Stop crying! You don't have any feelings remember? James should not feel. Never shown you emotions. It will make you weak and they will have power over you. Never let them get to you. Never let them win." I kept screaming at him. "Now take this." I handed him a gun.
"What the hell is going on? Nat?" Steve said as he came into the kitchen.
"Shoot him." I told James.
"Mommy I don't want to." James cried.
"Yes you do, shoot him. Now."
"Nat?" Steve looked at me with big bright blue eyes.
I smiled as James pulled the trigger.
Steve's POV
I woke up by a screaming Natasha. Tears came from her eyes like a waterfall and I tried to comfort her moving body. Her screams got to my heart.
"Natasha! Nat wake up!" I said loudly, trying to get her out of her dreams.
She opened her eyes and say straight up. Tears was still raining down her cheeks. "Nat." I pulled her into an embrace and hugged her for a long while.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." She kept saying. Repeating the words over and over again.
"Stop saying that. Natasha? You haven't hurt me in any way. Please, it's okey. It's going to be alright. It was just a dream."
She kept sobbing for a while until she turned to face me. Her eyes were red and she smiled as she saw my face. She kissed my lips time after time.
"Thank god." She said when she wrapped her arms around me. Embracing me in a tight hug.
"You wanna talk about it?" I finally said.
"No. Please just hold me. She said with a broken voice. I wrapped my arms around her as close as possible and kissed her forehead. I brushed away a few tears from her face and played with her hair. Eventually she fell asleep. I couldn't though. I was to afraid to let her be. As soon as she made a to fast movement or a sound, I tried calming her by kissing her face. Hoping she wouldn't have another dream. The darkness from the bedroom window soon turned bright and I knew that Natasha would wake up soon.
She woke up only a few minutes later.
"It's so cold." She mumbled.
"Well if you wouldn't kick the blanket to the floor, we might still have been warm." I said smiling.
She chuckled at that.
"Well, why didn't you just pick it up? The gentleman that you are. Americas golden boy. Our hero." She said, laughing. Her eyes were still closed.
"No you didn't." I said.
"I sure did." She chuckled.
I smiled as I picked her up, carrying her towards the bathroom.
"No Steve! What are you doing?" She squeezed, trying to get out of my grip.
"Oh no, not he shower, don't you dare put me in the shower!" She screamed as I laughed. I put on the shower on cold water and tried (for a while, she's freaking strong) to put her in the shower. She laughed and screamed, trying to get me to stop. But eventually I succeeded and she screamed high when the cold water hit her body. I laughed until she dragged me inside with her.
"Oh fuck that's freaking cold." I said as my body wanted to avoid the cold water dripping down my body.
"No shit." Natasha chuckled as she switched to hot water. "It will take me awhile to forgive you for this you know. I haven't been this cold since last night."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I didn't want to break your 'not being cold for 8 hours' record. Maybe you should get an award or something." I laughed.
"Yes, and award for putting up with you. I could be in bed right now." She said moaning.
I kissed her gently as my hands cupped her cheek.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. You should get some sleep. See ya later." I said as I pretended to try to get out of the shower. She dragged me back and pulled me in for another kiss.
"Yeah right, like I'm gonna let you win this one." She said, raising an eyebrow.
"You just did." I smiled.
"On purpose, that is. Win, win situation." She said smiling.
Another kiss fell on my lips.
"I'd die for some pancakes and tea right now." She said.
"That wouldn't be so bad actually." I said smiling.
Natasha's POV
The smell of pancakes made me warm. No, less cold. (Thanks to Steve). I smiled. If he wasn't here I would probably be eating a disgusting sandwich and a cup of tea. My cooking skills isn't the best. I mean, who would have taught me how to cook? Steve on the other hand, is like a chef at a restaurant. Neither of us cared at the fact that we just had pancakes the other night. We didn't have much options either since the only thing we had home was basically milk, eggs and some wheat.
"Ready to talk about that dream you had last night?" He said as he put down a plate of perfectly made pancakes right before me.
I shivered.
"I dreamed that we had.. Emm.. That we had a son." I said looking down at the plate.
"That doesn't sound so bad." He said. I looked up to meet his face as I were greeted with his smile. I couldn't help but smile back.
"No. No it wasn't. It was really great actually. Well, until he dropped a glass on the floor and I all of a sudden ordered him to shoot you. Which he did." I said, looking down at my plate again. "But it was everything I told him. At first, it was just everything I would have liked to tell my future child, well, if I actually could have one." Steve's smile faded in compassion as he remembered the fact that I was sterile. I kept talking.
"But then, as soon as he dropped that glass, it felt like I was back there. In the red room, only now, James was me."
"James?" Steve said, he tried not to smile but couldn't help it.
"I'm sorry what was I supposed to do? The name grew on me too and it's not like I could control my dream." I said, laughing.
"I think the dream just reflects your fears. If you someday have a child, you don't want it to suffer like you had to. I don't think it's weird at all. It's shows that you care." Steve said more seriously.
"You know that's impossible. I can't bare a child."
"Well there's always adopting?" Steve said, trying to comfort me.
"Yeah, but it would be much easier if we just took one of the Barton's." He said laughing.
"That's actually a great idea. Dibs on the traitor baby!" I sad smiling.
"I thought you didn't like him." Steve said laughing.
"Someone's gotta teach him how to behave." I smiled.
"You'd be the perfect woman for the job." Steve said as he took my hand.
I smiled and took a sip of my tea, not leaving my eyes from his for a second.
Hey guys, and thank you for reading! I got some plans for the future chapters and I really hope you'll like it. But in the time being, I hope you can enjoy Nat and Steve just cuddling around. I like them like this the most, and when they're all badass. But yeah, I'll update again soon. Take care! (:
