Long journey [Part 1: Begining]

Deep breaths Tegan. Take deep breaths.
You might be wondering why my heart is beating a hundred miles an hour and why my hands are shaking frantically.
Well, one simple word.

Bus.

Now I know what your thinking, why is a fifteen year old girl afraid of a bus? It's not my fault, okay! Ever since my bus buddy Nathan moved this summer passed, I have been forced to go through the torture of the fifteen minute ride on my own. Not to mention it's almost always late and smells like someone's dead animal.

Huff.

I wish my idiot brother Kieran wasn't being so stuck up right now by refusing to drive me. I mean, it's not like he has to go anywhere! He's eighteen and has decided to take a year off to travel and stuff before going to uni. Him not driving me is so unfair. Don't even ask about my parents. Dad works in the army and is always away and mum works 24\7 to pay the bills. I have insisted on getting a weekend job, but she always blabs on about how it would be 'cutting off my precious childhood too early.' Ridiculous.

This whole situation doesn't help with the fact I'm currently being stared at and whispered about. In the corner of my eye I can see two girls, both the year above me, both looking flawless despite the rain pelting down on us with no shelter to hide under. I roll my eyes.

Figures.

"That girl, what's her name again?" The tall and beautiful brunette named Stacy says in a hushed voice.

As if I can't hear.

"I have no idea." The second, whose name I have chosen to forget whispers back. What? If they don't remember my name, why should I remember theirs?

"She looks lonely, maybe we should go talk to her." Blondie says. "I hear she's pretty smart. Maybe I can get her to tell me the answers for the maths homework."

I wrap my arms around my satchel protectively and look away, hoping they'd get the idea.

Nope.

"Your so right Lacy!" Stacy yelled.
Stacy and lacy? Kill me now.
Luckily, before either one of them can approach, the bus drives down the road. I heave a sigh of relief and move closer to the edge of the curb, aware of the kids in the bus looking down at me and pointing.
What, did I have something on my face?! It wouldn't be the first time.

Sigh.

I wait for the bus doors to fold open before climbing on and going straight to the back. It's smells of cigarettes and cheese. Delightful. I take my seat far away from my school mates and straight away open up my phone which is already blasting music in my left ear.

I plug my right in and open up Instagram. What? Can't a girl stalk her friends on her way to school? The answer is yes, don't judge.

I let the music wash over me, blocking out the obnoxious hollers of the year sevens at the front of the bus. It's October and they're already being loud and acting like they own the place.

Seeing as I have nothing else to do, I decide to text my best friend Megan.
To:MOOGAN 🙈💜 From:Tegan
Hey! Wait for me at the bus stop. Pretty please?! Xxx
See how I use x's? It just shows how freaking desperate I am.

K see you in a bit. Xxx

I look out of the window to see we have come to the third stop. Wait, what? Since when did we have three stops? Usually there was were four, then mine and two more. What?

I look up for the first time this year actually, curious as to who the new comer was.

Silence falls over the bus, making me only just realise how loud my music actually is. I quickly turn it down to prevent becoming death and pull out one ear bud.

"Who is that?" Someone whispers.
"I heard he moved here from Spain." Said another.
I could practically hear the girls on the bus gushing, however I couldn't see the source of their gushing.

Frustrated, I sit a little higher. And that ladies and gentlemen is when I see the most beautiful creation brought to this earth.

Okay, so maybe that was a little dramatic.
But seriously, I could have sworn I was looking at a fallen angel. Light brown hair stylishly short, white v-neck, black skinny jeans, black vans, ray bands on top of his head. I felt my jaw drop to the ground and quickly looked back down at my phone as he continued down the isle towards me. My whole body stiffened as I saw him take a seat on the two seats beside mine, only the isle separating us. Good god was that loud beating my heart?!

Pull yourself together, Tegan! My conscious snapped. He's just a boy, jeez.

My conscious was right. He was just a boy. Just a harmless, godlike, unfairly hot, boy.
This was going to be a long journey.
