Chapter 25: The Mind Reader

Note: AGAIN, sorry for taking so long. I'm editing my previous chapters and stuff, it's very tiring...so I saw some people wanted to continue with Deamon, Verbal and Bebop, and someone wanted some Martyn and Toby...coming up! Warning this chapter will contain mushy romance and more dirty talk from the demigod crew!

Tia's POV

Throughout my life, I had always found myself asking questions. Who made the world? How did life come to be? What was our purpose in life? These questions made me ponder our very existence, the very nature of who we are. But one question, which was echoing in my head, over and over, would just not go away.

How the HELL did Ridge put up with these guys?

Deamon was driving a...I don't know what the hell it is.

"A Jaguar XJ220" Deamon smirks, looking round to wink at me. Damn his mind reading skills. "One of the fastest cars in this mortal world."

"Whatever" I sigh, going back to staring at the blurring city of London through the tinted windows. God knows how he managed to find this car. A sleek, slim build, as black as the night was currently, and the interior was smooth black leather.

Personally, I was more concerned about the fact that Deamon was driving one of the fastest cars on the planet than the look of the car.

Next to Deamon in the passenger seat was Verbal, who currently had geek mode going on, spouting facts about the car that I was really not interested in, though Ridge was listening intently. Bebop was on the left side of the back, the light from London reflecting on his robot face. Ridge was squished in the middle, and was taking up a lot of my personal space, which I had protested at to no avail.

And I was sat on the right, gazing out of the windows, wondering what the hell I had got myself into.

As the car slowed to a stop at the traffic lights, I took the chance to survey the surroundings and almost gasped in shock.

"What's wrong?" Ridge asks, feeling me stiffen next to him.

"Over there" I whisper, staring through the window. "Is that...I think...is that Sips?"

Ridge leans over my lap (making sure to squish me into the very corner of the car in the process) squinting out into the night. The hardness in his eyes confirmed it-Sips was here.

"And the Hatfilms crew too" Ridge muses, leaning backwards. "No sign of Sjin. Deamon, think you can pull over?"

"One of your mortal buddies?" Bebop asks, his robot face flashing various different coloured lights as he talked.

"I wouldn't call him my buddy. He's a slimy little rat who gets on my nerves" Ridge scowls.

I second that.

Deamon snickers in the front seat. Curse his mind reading abilities...again.

"Curse them all you want, it's fun to invade in people's private lives. Don't worry" he grins, looking at me in the mirror, winking at me slyly, "I never say a word."

How reassuring, I think grimly, and he chuckles again, revving up the engine as the traffic light goes green, before smoothly pulling up on the opposite side of the pavement to Sips.

Deamon steps out first, casually, so as not to draw attention, though he stares at Sips with a blank look. Sips catches his eye, and Deamon looks him up and down with a sneer. Thank God for tinted windows.

Sips crosses the road and I stiffen as I spy Sjin in the shadows, emerging, his brown moustache twitching as he nervously follows his boss across the road. Is this what I was to Ridge now? His little pet?

Bebop and Verbal exit the car, going round it as Sips stops in front of them. The Hatfilms gang, who I was familiar with but not very much, crowded round him, looking intimidating. Ridge rests his head on my shoulder lightly, watching through my window.

I hesitate, before turning my head, letting my lips slide across his cheek. Just as slowly as me, he slips his hand into mine, squeezing it softly as I kiss softly down his neck. It was as if my brain had shut down, and my body was responding to something that I could not hear or control.

Part of me wondered if Deamon was doing this, but again, my thoughts went blank as Ridge pressed his lips to my ear to whisper. The feeling of his mouth against my skin made me shiver lightly.

"If I kill Sjin will you go out with me?" he smirks against my ear. My brain slowly turns back on again, but unusually, I don't pull away.

"If you kill both of them, I'll marry you" I chuckle, pulling away at last, hoping he didn't take that literally.

"Deal" he grins, and I roll my eyes, not protesting as he goes back to his original position, resting his head lightly on my shoulder. Though this, time, my left arm reaches up to stroke his hair softly, and it comforted me.

Even though I was barely a metre away from the man who scarred me for life, I felt safer than I'd ever felt in a long time.

Note: I warned you of mushy romance! :P

The noise of something tapping the window made us both jump, and we peer out to see Deamon smirking at the tinted window, Sips frowning and squinting at it.

"Cut it out, love birds" he grunts, and Ridge chuckles, waving his hand over my body. At first, I frown, wondering what he was doing. But when I look down, I see my clothes have changed-from a typical black hoodie and black jeans, I had gone to black jeans, black riding boots, and a black blouse-type shirt, with the top button undone. But the most obvious change was, instead of a hoodie, I wore a black coat, with silver edges. Just like Ridge's design.

"Is this really necessary?" I muse, before snapping my neck to see Sips peering closer into the window.

"Who's in there?" he demands, and Deamon turns round again, grinning through the glass.

"Yes" Ridge smirks back, before clicking the window button, and the window goes down.

I meet the Canadian's eye coolly, with an almost cocky expression. I can only imagine how this looked, me, looking similiar to Ridge, with the demigod himself resting his head on my shoulder, his arm firmly wrapping itself around my waist.

"You" Sips spits, backing away from the car abruptly.

"Sup Sips" I greet him, my eyes glancing once at Sjin who had not changed his expression.

In a flash, the hot-water bottle had disappeared from inside the car and was suddenly outside of it, making all the men step backwards warily. The door slowly opened, Ridge holding it for me, and I step from the car, my shoes making no noise at all...

Holy mother of-

You're hovering, don't freak out or you'll ruin the whole show Deamon's voice boomed in my head.

K, I think simply, folding my feet up slightly. I was indeed hovering.

It felt weird-you know when you push two magnets together and they force each other apart? That power in between them that you can feel, it felt like that between the ground and my feet, like they were pushing each other away.

"What the hell did you do to her? And who the hell are these guys?" Sips demands, looking at us all.

"Hello to you too Sips" Ridge greets him, stepping forward. He put on that weird voice again (wow, I knew him so well I knew what his different voices were), the "I'm dangerous so don't push me" voice.

"Her? She's my partner. And these? Those are my friends. Immortal friends, I'd like to point out, so you'd do well not to fuck with them, because they don't possess the amount of mercy that I do."

"Mercy?" Sjin spits, and I hid my surprise of the assassin's outburst.

"Hey, Mr Moustache, I didn't ask for a shower" Deamon snorts, and I stifle a smirk.

Not very well though.

Sips shoots a glare at me, before nodding at Sjin. He stares at Sips for a moment intently, before glancing back to me, his eyes focused. I stare back, and we have an awkward staring contest whilst Ridge and Sips begin to talk. It struck me that both of us were the same-partners of men who ruled our lives. He knew that too, and his brown eyes held an almost sympathetic look, yet I did not return it.

My scar was pulsing in time with my heartbeat.

"And the Hatfilms crew too, how nice to see you" Ridge smiles, acting genuinely courteous towards them. They share a look before turning back to the group of demigods.

"What are you doing in London?" the one named Ross replies, and I'm surprised to hear his polite tone.

"Business" Ridge grins slyly. His arm reaches to wrap around my waist, and he pulls me closer to him. As I am hovering, my feet float towards him.

"Nice business" the one called Trott snickers, and I smirk at the comment. It is then that both Sips and Sjin notice that my feet are not on the ground

"The fuck have you done with her?" Sips snaps.

"I'm pretty sure Ridge just said it's business. And it's, more importantly, our business, so keep your nose out of it" Bebop bleeps, his voice mixed with various sounds.

"And who the hell are you?" Sjin glowers, looking the robot up and down.

"Interesting" Deamon murmurs, and everyone turns to look at him. He is staring at Sjin intensely, and he shuffles awkwardly under his gaze.

"What is?" Ridge inquires, glancing at his friend.

"It appears this Sjin-" Deamon rolls the name on his tongue,"-has a bit of a crush on your girlfriend, Ridge."

Wait...what?

Martyn's POV

"Do you think Ridge still wants his car?" I muse, slowly rincing my hands of oil, lathering soap and making bubbles.

Toby snorts. "Doubt it."

I am about to reply when a loud knock rattles the metal doors of the garage, and I glance round to see a beautiful girl with shoulder length black hair that frames her face well. She looked quite young, about 20, and she wore cute, but simple clothes: a blue denim jacket, and a knee length blue skirt.

"Excuse me?" she asks, and I eagerly dry my hands.

"Hey!" I grin, chucking the towel aside and shaking her hand gently.

"Hi, sorry to interrupt." She grins sheepishly back, pushing her hair behind her shoulder awkwardly. "I was wondering if you could help me with my car?"

"Sure, I mean, that's our job" I smile-although it was a total and utter lie. Our job was to steal cars and do them up, before selling them.

"I'm Kaeyi, by the way," she smiles, glancing once at Toby.

"Martyn. This is my friend Toby" I introduce, and when I turn back to my friend, his face is glowering angrily. I raise an eyebrow at him, before turning back to her. "What's up with your car?"

"It kinda started making weird noises and stuttering halfway towards the motorway, and the pick-up guys said it would be a good idea to take it to you-they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it." She sighs frustratingly. "I know this sounds horrible, but I need it fixing pretty quick. I have a deadline to meet, so..." She scratches her hair.

"Bring it in, we'll look it over. And if we can't fix it, I'll be happy to drive you" I blurt out without even thinking.

"Really?" she grins, her eyes lighting up. "Oh my god, you guys are life savers!" Kaeyi squeals happily, suddenly bubbling with happiness. "It's just outside, I'll drive it in."

"No problem" I assure her, watching her wistfully as she darts behind the door.

"What do you think you're doing?" Toby hisses, spinning me round by my shoulder. "We steal cars, we don't fix them!"

I scoff. "Might as well make some extra money. And it's not as if you won't be able to fix it." I detect a hint of jealousy in his eyes, but I dismiss it. "Look, just do it-stop complaining." I sigh.

He glowers, glaring at the car that was being rolled through the metal doors. "Fine."

Note: SO....Inthelittledream OR LikeTotallyLittlewood? YOU GUYS CHOOSE IN THE COMMENTS! And what do you think about what Deamon has said about Sjin? Ship it or sink it? :D Let me know!
