Chapter 6

Grayson came into my room and walked over to my bed.

"You're not asleep. So look over at me."

I shook my head.

"You know you're not allowed to touch my car when I'm not here."

I shrugged. He pulled me onto my back.

"It's just a car Grayson."

"Excuse me?"

"You're over reacting."

"No I'm not. I don't take your shit when you're out of the house."

"There are no scratches or anything! It's perfectly fine!"

"You could have wrecked!"

"Heaven forbid something happen to your baby."

"You could have killed yourself and took Rebecca with you."

I turned over, "You wouldn't be so lucky."

He was getting frustrated now. "Why would that make me lucky?"

"You wouldn't have to pretend to like me to make your dad happy."

"Are you fucking serious?" he yelled.

I didn't say anything. I could hear someone running to my room. Grayson just waited until the person barged in.

"We heard yelling." Mason. "You alright?" I couldn't tell who he was talking to.

"She's fine. Now get out."

"Grayson, maybe you should take a walk."

"Get the fuck out of here Mason and take them with you."

"She's only a chick man. Don't--"

There was a thud and a choking sound. I looked over. Grayson had Mason against the door frame, his forearm crushing his brother's windpipe.

This is my fault.

Carlos put his hand on Grayson's shoulder. "Let him go. We'll all go on a run to get rid of the tension."

"I'm not finished with her yet."

"She'll be here when we get back."

"I'm not going to touch her. Get downstairs and I'll be down in 5 minutes."

"5." Mason said before walking out with the other guys following him.

Grayson walked slowly to the side of my bed again. He was probably waiting for them to get out of hearing range.

"Let's start this conversation over. Why did you take my car?" He didn't sound as mad.

"Becky needed a ride home."

"You couldn't ask Trevor?"

I shook my head, "He scares me."

He rolled his eyes. "So you risked your life to take your friend home?"

"I feel better."

He shook his head. "You get those dizzy spells. What if you got one while driving?"

I shrugged. "I don't know."

"You think I want to see you dead on some street because you're afraid of Trevor?"

"I don't know what you want Grayson. You've warmed up to me too quickly. It's not normal." I sat up. "It's like you're forcing yourself to like me. I don't want this. You know that. I don't think you want this." I started picking at my blanket. "Maybe we should just get this over with."

"Get what over with?"

His phone started ringing. He answered it.

"What? -- I need more time, go ahead and start without me." He closed his phone, putting it back in his pocket.

"Sorry. Get what over with?"

"The whole sex thing."

He shook his head, looking down.

"What? It'll take a few minutes, then it'll be done. You don't have to pretend anymore." I walked on my knees to him. "Just do what you did the other day." His blue eyes looked up at me.

"Have you always thought I was so shallow?" He shook his head. "I'm not doing this anymore." I reached to his hand; he stepped away with his hands up. "Don't, fucking, touch me. Your brother's a fool to think that you would have given this a real chance. Sure, the chance was small, but you don't even bother with it." He shook his head. "Make sure you tell your brother that you need a ride to school here on out when he gets back." He walked out of my room.

"What. The. Fuck." I said to my empty room. Grayson had to be the most confusing individual in the world. He didn't want to be seen as shallow? Give me a break. There's only one reason that he's forcing himself to be with me, and that has only to do with what's in his pants.

I watched TV until it was time to make dinner. I walked to the kitchen. Brian and Eddie's conversation stopped when I walked in.

Eddie glared at me. Grayson must have let everyone know already. "What are you doing in here?"

"Do you want to eat tonight?"

Brian, "Conner's bringing food home tonight."

I sighed and nodded. I went back up to my room and texted Becky.

Brian was the one who brought me food.

"Am I confined to my bedroom?"

He nodded. "Anytime Grayson's pissed we all are confined to our bedroom. He's never been this pissed." I took a bite of the sweet and sour pork. "What did you say to him?" I sighed, chewing my food. "You might want to consider taking back what you said."

I shook my head, "Why? He could hear if I lied to him."

Brian nodded, "So say you're sorry you pissed him off."

I glared at him, "Are you taking his side?"

"I'm not taking sides. I'm watching out for the health of everyone in this house."

I shook my head, "Whatever. I'm not talking to that asshole ever again."

He rolled his eyes and stuffed his mouth with food.

Monday thru Thursday I walked to school and counted it towards my exercise. It was about a mile's walk, and in heels, that I translated into 2 miles. Becky knew that Grayson and I were through with the relationship, and he was kissing a new girl everyday. I wasn't surprised.

The final bell rang after a very bad day. I twisted my ankle in P.E. My tears had messed up my makeup, so I had to take it all off. My newly manicured nails were now ruined because I fell twice. I was ready to lie down and not wake up until I had to.

Becky hooked her arm with mine. "Are you alright babe?"

I shook my head, "This has been hell week."

She rested her head on my shoulder, "Sometimes this is what happens after a breakup."

"Let's go buy stuff."

She nodded, "And get your nails redone. My lord woman," She said as she looked at them "you fucked them up."

I nodded as I looked at them, "They're horrible."

It took us a half an hour to walk to my house. I grabbed aspirin from the kitchen and a water bottle. Becky opened my door as she entered my room first. I chugged the water after swallowing the pills. Then my heel broke...the heel which supported my already swollen ankle. Becky turned around when she heard my scream and thud. I took off the shoe and threw it across the room, it broke my vanity mirror.

I slapped my floor a few times, throwing a tantrum, and hit the ground with closed fists until my hands hurt all while screaming curses. Poor Becky tried to stop me. When I was finished she scooted closer to me and rubbed my throbbing hands.

"Feel better?"

I shook my head, "I feel like a wreck."

She smiled slightly, "You look like a wreck."

I wiped a few of my tears then put my hand around my ankle, "It hurts so bad."

She nodded, "I'm going to go get some ice for it. It's huge and turning colors."

"Help me to my bed."

"I've got her." Conner.

Becky nodded, "I'll be right back with ice."

I nodded.

Conner picked me up and laid me on my bed. He took off my other heel and threw it in the trash bin. He then turned his attention to my purple ankle.

"It's sprained. I need to splint it."

"Why can't you just fix it?" I asked through tears.

"I can't."

"Then who can?"

He looked at the ankle. "Trevor."

"Can you ask him?"

He shook his head, "Not now. When Becky leaves, I'll carry you down there and you can ask him yourself."

I nodded.

Becky didn't leave for 5 painful hours. And like Conner promised, he carried me down to Trevor's door. Every jolt of my leg, I felt. Mason hit it on his way up the stairs. I yelped and buried my head in Conner's shirt. I was in tears by the time we were at Trevor's door. Conner knocked on the door then kissed my forehead.

Trevor opened the door. "What?"

"I think it might be broken."

He shrugged, "So? Take her to the hospital."

I looked at Trevor, "Can you please just fix it?"

"Why would I do that? You've caused nothing but trouble these past few weeks."

I looked at Conner, then back at Trevor. "I didn't mean--"

Trevor's hand rushed to my ankle and he squeezed.

"Stop it!" I cried, trying to kick him away from me.

"You deserve this pain you little--"

"Dad." Someone called through my cries. Trevor stopped squeezing, but his hand still rested on my ankle.

The pain let off and the tension in my body lessened to the point where I couldn't hold my head up. Conner shifted my weight in his arms to support my head.

"Heal it and shut the door." Trevor looked back at his son. The pain completely left my ankle, then the door slammed shut.

Conner took me to the couch. "Open your eyes Casey."

I lazily did. My body felt so heavy.

"You alright?"

I shrugged, and tried to sit up straight. I was a bit wobbly. Conner just sighed at me, then put me in my room, where I belonged.
